CHAPTER 97
Axel received a message from Melanie telling him to meet up in the school parking lot.
He arrived and met her already waiting. He smiled shortly before walking to her.
At least, he still has a reason to smile.
“Bae,” he called slowly.
Melanie turned to him, trying her possible best to avoid his eyes.
“I’ve thought much about this, and… Staying away will be the best thing”
“Let’s stay away from each other, Axel. I don’t want to cause a fight between you and your friends, I don’t want you two becoming enemies all because of me. Let’s do this please” Melanie said.
Axel was too stunned to react. She was asking to stay away from her??
His eyes cleared when he saw her walking away. He quickly rushed to her and hugged her from the back, his hands resting on her bbs, but his mind wasn’t there at all.
“I can’t do that, Mel. I’m gonna die if I do so. I’ll settle this, I’m talk to him, just don’t stay away please,” Axel said brokenly. His voice was torn, his heart was tearing apart slowly.
“Axel… Please,” Melanie’s lips trembled as tears trickled down her cheeks.
Axel sniffed and tears rolled down his cheeks, dampening her shoulder. She was all he needed at the moment.
His parents left him, his friends left him, she was the only cause of his happiness and she asking to stay away…
“Please,” he whispered in tears.
Melanie slowly moved away from him and walked away, not casting a glance at him nor saying a word.
Staring at her back view, Axel’s heart shattered and he felt happiness leaving his life slowly.
“Melanie,” he whispered in tears.

It took almost all of Melanie’s being not to retrace her steps and rush to his arms, telling him how much she’s grown to love him.
She continued walking dejectedly as balls of tears kept rolling down her cheeks. She could feel her heart slowly ripping out of her chest.
Kylie, who was passing by with Leon, happened to see her. His eyes widened on noticing her tears and he didn’t know when he got to her front.
On seeing him, Melanie stopped walking and never bothered to clean her tears. Rather, she kept crying.
Kylie cupped her face in his hands, rubbing it soothingly as he stared deeply into her eyes.
“Why are you crying?” He asked softly.
“Did that bstard hurt you? Did he?” He asked again.
Melanie shook her head, still crying hard.
“I love him,” a sob wrenched out of her throat.
“I love him so much, I can’t…” She choked on her tears.
Kylie watched in sadness as her tears kept falling freely on her cheeks.
He stretched his arm and pulled her to his chest, rubbing her hair before placing a light kss on it.
“It’s okay, just calm down first, huh?” He whispered gently.
Melanie stood still in his arms as her tears wet his clothes badly. Slowly, her tears died down but she couldn’t stop sniffing.
Kylie broke the hug to stare at her, his thumbs went to her eyes and he cleaned her tears off.
“What happened?” He asked gently.
Melanie explained everything to him, including the part that Ace was her ex.
“And do you think that’s the best thing? Staying away from him?” He asked.
