HER HEARTLESS MONSTER : CHAPTER 31 – 40
SAME NIGHT, A INN DOWNTOWN*
Dr. Kali’s head is covered with a blue shawl as she entered the inn, looking extra cautious.
Despite the fact that the time is past 11PM, the inn is full of people having fun both men and women.
Kali looked around for any sign of the person she’s here to meet, and she luckily saw him sitting not far from the second door.
She walked through the lanterned room and settled in front of him.
He looked up, then he removed his glasses, revealing his white eyes.
It’s Greg, Twilight’s father.
“As the university doctor, it’s not advisable to stay out too long, so I’ll make it quick” Dr. Kali said.
“How is my daughter doing? Is she coping?” Greg asked.
“What are you doing Greg? How could you send her to the university when you know how it is in there? Slade is enough for anybody to stay away from the school…that guy has no heart beating in his chest Greg” Kali replied.
Greg sighed, drinking slowly from his cup of black coffee.
“She’ll be fine, trust me. She might look fragile but there’s more to her. I sent her there cos I’m sure she’d be fine” he spoke.
“Is she a witch?” Kali whispered, leaning closer.
“I’m not sure. The only thing specific about her is the dream guy and the voice she hears” Greg said.
“Wait…same voice her mother Owen heard that drove her to the psychiatric home? Twilight is hearing it too?” Kali’s eyes widened.
“I’m only hoping that she won’t turn out like Owen. Staying at home is part of why Owen’s situation got worse, and that’s part of why I sent Twilight to the university…she needed the environment change a lot” Greg said.
“I get you, but you can just send her out of Glennville if the change is that important. I’m telling you she already has Slade’s attention, and it’s not good” Kali said.
“She’ll be fine, Kali. Stop worrying and just continue keeping an eye on her” Greg said.
“Fine, so how’s Owen doin?” Kali asked.
“I’m planning to go see her after leaving this place” Greg replied.
“I’ll come with you” Kali stood.
“Thought you said you can’t stay out of the university for long” Greg stood too.
“I can spare some more minutes” Kali smiled, and they exited the inn together.
Kali came with a car, so they left in Kali’s car.
The drive to Argentum psychiatric home took roughly ten minutes, and Greg led the way to Owen’s ward.
They met a nurse who opened the door for them, and they met Owen sitting in bed with drowsy eyes and limp hands, scattered hair, pale face and lips.
She looks like she’s not alive, but she’s still breathing.
Kali couldn’t close her mouth as she watched the pitiful condition.
“How are you coping? Heard their charges in this hospital is high” Kali said.
“I make enough sales from my herbal medicine, and i also take out loans. I’ll do anything to make her get her sanity back, but it doesn’t seem like it’s getting better.
Last time Twilight visited her and bathed her, she almost drowned Twilight in the bathtub” Greg explained, and Kali touched his shoulder.
“Keep being hopeful, don’t lose it yet” she said, and he nodded.
“Thank you, Kali”
