TOWN, LUTHER’S ISLAND*
Stella was already asleep in her bed when Timothy entered the room.
He met the maids covering her with the duvet, but they all exited the room immediately he came in.
“How’re you doing, wife” Timothy said sadly, sitting beside her.
She stroked her closed eyes, and her lids shook slightly, so he quickly retracted his hand.
He smiled with a melancholic touch, sighing out.
“I shouldn’t have let you out of the car that night” he muttered, shutting his eyes.

FLASHBACK TO 27 YEARS AGO*
The road is silent and dark as Timothy drove the car smoothly through it.
It’s 7pm, and Stella got her night cravings again, so they’re on their way to get it.
He wanted to go get her ice cream alone, but she insisted on tagging along, so he just had to take her.
Music is playing softly on the car radio, and Stella is moving to the tunes happily on her seat.
Timothy gave her soft glances from time to time, smiling each time he did.
She’s heavily pregnant, and she’d soon be due for delivery.
Scan says she’s carrying three babies in her belly. Meaning, she’s gonna give birth to triplets.
The fact that it’s her first pregnancy is something to be proud of. At least, they can rest after having the triplets.
He brought an hand to Stella’s belly and touched, feeling the babies kicking.
“Yunno what? Let’s go back. I lost my appetite for ice cream” Stella suddenly said.
“Really? You were crying for ice cream before we left the house” he replied.
“I changed my mind” she said.
“Are you sure?” He said.
“Take me back home, Timothy” she deadpanned, and he nodded before turning the car around.
He began driving back home, and Stella resumed moving to the music, singing along smoothly.
Timothy hasn’t driven for three minutes when she spoke again.
“We should go get the ice cream. I suddenly crave it again”
“What the hell! Stella” he faced her.
“Turn the car around” she replied.
“What! No we can’t…it’s late and you know how this town is. It’s dangerous for a pregnant woman to be out at night” he said.
“I don’t care! Just get me the ice cream” she glared, and Timothy stopped the car.
“I’ll make you homemade ice cream when we get home” he said.
“If you can’t take me to get the ice cream, then I’ll just trek” she said and got down from the car so fast.
“Stella!” Timothy got down too, gasping when he saw her entering the bush beside the road.
“Stella fine! We’ll go get it! Come back!’ he shouted as he ran after her,but she didn’t even look back as if something is calling her.
She kept going deeper into her forest,faster than normal.
“Stella!” Timothy ran faster too, but he lost sight of her.
The next thing he heard was her scream from the other side of the forest, and he ran madly to that spot.
He met Stella unconscious on the ground already, but she’s not alone.
She’s with an herbal doctor who’s obviously performing a powerful ritual at that time.
“Oh…no!!!!!!” Timothy screamed.

BACK TO PRESENT TIME*
Timothy took Stella’s hand in bed and rubbed gently.
“I should have trapped you in the car more tightly. I shouldn’t have let you out. I shouldn’t have let you witness that. Our triplets got cursed because of me. It’s my fault” he sobbed, resting his head beside Stella.
“It’s my fault”
