The keywords you are going to rank for in your website are very important because this is how people find your website.

If you target the wrong keywords you will struggle to get enough traffic to make your website profitable because there simple isn’t enough traffic there for it.

One powerful tool you can use to research keywords is GOOGLE EXTERNAL KEYWORD TOOL

EASY STEPS TO FOLLOW TO RESEARCH A GOOD KEYWORD

? Open your GOOGLE EXTERNAL KEYWORD TOOL on chrome and make sure you open up the Advanced Options section.

? Then choose a country you want to search in. (Usually you will select the country you are unless you are specifically targeting another country.)

? Then enter Local Monthly Searches greater or lesser than 1000 as your search filter. (This means that you will be focusing on keywords with at least 1000 searches per month.) When you click search you will be presented with the results and you will get up to 800 results and lots of useful information.

Extra Tips

• Once you have searched you can either use the Google tool to analyse your keywords or you can download the results and use a spreadsheet on your computer to analyse them.

• The competition field in the results isn’t the number of competing sites in the search engines but it gives you an idea of how many people are bidding on the Adwords ads. This gives you an idea of how many people are spending money advertising for that keyword. If it is high, then the niche is profitable.

• The CPC column on the far right will also tell you how much people are paying per click on their adverts, and whether or not it is worth your while using Adsense ads on your website.

• For every new website you should target 10 to 15 keywords, then as your website grows you can add more keywords.

• Create your content based around these keywords and then do your link building based around them and build a site that is profitable and ranks well.

HOW TO USE THE KEYWORD

While you strive to ensure that your content appeals to your audience, you must also write according to the SEO guidelines that will help your articles rank.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is essential because the search engines control the visibility of your articles, and if you want good visibility, there are certain things you need to do.

1. Select Appropriate Keywords

Before you write an article for your website or blog, search for appropriate keywords relevant to the topic you want to write. You can use Google Adwords’ Keyword Tool for this.

2. Simplicity/Readability

Search engines have spiders/crawlers that go over your articles to see if you are writing for more visibility or writing quality content to benefit your audience.

You need well-written articles that’ll add value to your audience and still rank.

Similarly, how you structure your paragraphs matter, don’t write large chunks of text because you think your audience wants valuable information; break your texts into bits and pieces for easy readability.

3. Keyword Placement

Yes, you have your keywords now, but how do you use them?

Do you just place them in any area that you deem fit, or do you do a strategic placement?

Keywords play their roles better if you include them in your headings and subheadings, the first lines of your introduction, and the first lines of subsequent subheadings.

4. Use Bullets

And no, I don’t mean the ones that come with guns. Bullets and numbering make your article easier to skim through and more appealing to the eyes.

5. Proper Linking

Let’s say you’re writing an article that requires you to add outbound and inbound links; what do you do?

Look for anchor texts in your article that are related to the content contained in the page you’re directing them to, and please ensure that the said page contains information your readers will find relevant.
