I shook my head. “It doesn’t hurt me!” But even my mind knows I’m laying. I saw the look Dove gave to me yesterday, no emotion like she’s finally fed up of my I come and I go and she’s so done with me.
It should like that, for the best. She should be done with me because I’d only ruin her and hurt her but at the same time I don’t want her to leave, i don’t want her to hate me.
“You say you don’t care but you look so broken” Jerry shook his head. “Who is she even?” He then ask.
“I can’t tell you that, sorry men” I reply and continue staring my coffee but it’s weird how everywhere is suddenly quiet, I raised my head to see Jerry giving me a dead serious look.
“What the fuck men?” I can’t believe he’s doing this right now. Giving that look that says I’m not speaking to you unless you tell me. “You can’t be serious” I gave him an unbelievable look.
Jerry proceeds to crossing his hands around his chest and intensifying his look.
“No we are to old for-
“Oh hell nah” He cuts me off. “We are best friends, I’ve told you all of my shits but you’re still hiding things from me” He was dead serious.
“Fine” I mumbled, I better tell someone to get it off me. “Don’t be judgemental but the girl I’m seeing is a minor, 16 year old” I muttered.
“Taylor’s friend? Dove?” He ask.
“How did you know?” I ask.
“Come on Derek, who else do we know that’s 16 and you started acting weird since she came back so I figured but I was waiting for you to tell me first” He shrugs and sips his for cappuccino.
I sighed, since he knows then he knows.
“You know that’s dangerous right? And besides Dove might not know what she wants yet because she’s still a kid, you might be her teenage fantasy so you should be careful man”
There, the honest truth I was afraid of. “So you think it’s best I stay away?” I ask.
“I think it’s best if you two talk together. If you really want to be together then do it right now” Jerry reply then gave me another serious look again.
I wonder what this motherfucker wants to squeeze out of me this time.
“I need you to be really honest with me Derek. Do you keep pushing her away because she’s a kid or is there something else you’re hiding?”
This question. I’ve always avoided it from Jerry, from anyone including my mom. “Why would you assume I’m hiding something else?” I scoff nervously and checked my wristwatch to check the time I don’t need for anything.
“Oh it’s 12pm already. Thanks for having coffee with me Jerry but I need to leave now” I stood up and began walking away but after three steps what Jerry said made me freeze.
“What if I told you I know what you’re hiding Derek” He said and I slowly turned to him. He has a dead serious look on his face, shit he knows.
