It took Cecelia some minutes before she was able to stand up from the bed, and going back home, she met Luke waiting for her.
“Are you alright? Why are you walking like that?” Luke asked, when Cecelia came home limping.
She was limping because of how Lewis banged her aggressively.
“I’m fine, love. I mistakenly slammed into a stone on my way home” Cecelia lied.
“Sorry about that, love. Lemme take a look at it” Luke tried taking off her stilettos, but Cecelia snuggled backward.
“No, you don’t have to. I can manage”
“Are you sure?” Luke asked, he was worried.
“Yes I am fine. I can handle it, I know you have so much work to do since Richard is not in Vegas”
Luke furrowed his eyebrows.
“How did you know Richard isn’t in Vegas? I didn’t disclose it to you” Luke murmured, looking at Cecelia suspiciously.
Cecelia bit her lips trying to think of what to say to Luke. She overheard Lewis on the phone, and that’s how she got to know Richard wasn’t in Vegas. Cecelia cursed herself a million times for not keeping her lips sealed.
“What are you up to, love?”
Cecelia faked a smile and said; “I just guessed, because you have lots of files piled up for you”
Luke’s eyes went to the file on the table.
“Is that why you think Richard isn’t in Vegas?”
“I guess so. I will go in and rest” She kissed him briefly on the lips and went to the room.
Luke continued with his work, and when he was done, he went to the room and found Cecelia sleeping.
“I wondered why she looked so tired. It’s not like she is a working class lady” Luke muffed, staring at his wife.

Richard’s eyes were fixed on Kristin’s as she disinfected his wounds.
Just like how Justo had predicted, she was treating his injured arm.
“You shouldn’t have gone hunting with Justo. I told you he is not a serious person, and look you got yourself injured” Kristin stated as she treated him, but Richard wasn’t concentrating on what she saw saying.
His eyes were fixed on her, reminiscing what Justo told him earlier today.
*You just have to think deeply on what you feel for Kristin. Do you love her romantically and see as a woman, or you just see her as a friend*
These words echoed in his ears, as he stared deeply at Kristin.
Kristin noticed the way he was staring at her, so she waved her hand close to his eyes.
Richard came back to the present.
“Do you have something to say to me?” Kristin asked, and Richard shook his head.
“It’s definitely going to heal in a few days” She smiled after she was done treating him.
“Thank you” He muttered and Kristin smiled at him again.
“How’s your dad doing?”
“He is still unconscious, but the doctor said he’d wake up soon. Will you like to visit him?”
Richard shook his head.
“I’m not ready yet”
“Ready for what?” Kristin asked.
“What about your mom?” Richard asked, changing the topic.
“She is with the rest of the farmers, they normally gather around and drink during the evening”
“What about you?” Richard looked at her.
“I don’t appear in such gatherings” She smiled.
“What about your best friend? I don’t see her around” Richard said. He was trying to know the people around Kristin, but meeting her dad, he’d have to prepare for it.
“She is not in Glenwood for the meantime,” Kristin said in a low voice.
“Your mood changed all of a sudden, are you alright?”
Kristin nodded trying to brighten up.
Gladys walked in, and they both stood up.
“Mom”
Gladys’s eyes went to Kristin, and it diverted to Richard.
“Richard, right?”
Richard looked at Kristin before nodding his head.
“We need talk”
“What do you have to say to him?” Kristin asked.
“It’s just between us,” Gladys said and left.
“You don’t have to go with you if you don’t want to”
“It’s fine, Firefly. It’s obvious she doesn’t like me” Richard leaves, and Kristin puffs her lips.
