INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 71 – 80
Dante clenched his fists and stood up. “This means Kristin lied to us. It now explains how she’s able to pay off our debts! I told you, Gladys, my suspicions were correct; Kristin isn’t working as a waitress in Vegas. It was easy for her to fool us because smartphones are barely used in Glenwood.”
“But why would Kristin lie to us? I thought she had learned from her mistakes?” Gladys asked disappointedly.
She now understood why Richard had come to Glenwood; it wasn’t because of his properties, as Kristin had said. He came to Glenwood to see her.
Why would Kristin get married and keep it a secret from them? Gladys wondered.
There was a moment of silence in the room before Dante finally spoke.
“We are going to Las Vegas,” he said with determination.

**LAS VEGAS**
Richard exhaled sharply after Luke informed him that Lewis was doing fine.
“It seems like you care about Lewis?” Luke asked.
“He used to be my best friend. If he hadn’t hurt Kristin, he wouldn’t be in the hospital, right? I don’t regret it, though. He shouldn’t have laid a finger on my wife,” Richard said, his face showing the anger he felt when Lewis hurt Kristin.
Luke smiled. He wanted to remind Richard that he was under a contract with Kristin, but knowing Richard was already falling in love with Kristin, he chose not to mention it.
“Luke.”
“Yes, Richard?”
“Research the best medical schools in Vegas.”
“Why? Does someone want to become a medical doctor?”
“Just do it. You’ll find out later,” Richard said calmly.
“Alright. I will look into it immediately.” Luke left the office.
As Luke exited the office, he saw Kristin styling the hair of a little girl while smiling.
Kristin had come to the hotel with Richard earlier. She insisted she didn’t want to stay at home, and Richard agreed she could accompany him.
“I guess she misses her daughter,” Luke muttered before approaching her with a smile.
“I didn’t know my buddy is a hair stylist,” Luke said, pretending ignorance about Kristin’s daughter.
Kristin returned a smile and set the little girl down from her lap.
“Thank you, miss,” the little girl said, pecking Kristin on the cheek before running off.
Kristin smiled, watching the little girl interact with other children—children of vacationers staying at the hotel.
“Do you miss her?”
“Miss who?” Kristin asked, shifting her gaze from the little girl to Luke.
“I mean the little girl who just left. It seems like you want to carry her again,” Luke lied. He was actually referring to Kristin’s daughter.
Kristin smiled.
“Where’s Mr. Grouchy?” she asked.
“Still busy, but he will be with you soon.”
“And your wife?”
Luke fell silent.
“You haven’t resolved your issues with her?” Kristin asked.
“The problem is with me,” Luke sighed sadly.
“What really happened?”
“You’re my buddy, and that’s why I’m telling you this,” Luke hesitated before speaking. “She called another man’s name while we were making love, and when I confronted her, she said it was a character from a movie.”
“That’s strange,” Kristin said, furrowing her eyebrows.
“I know, right? I want to believe her, but I just can’t.”
