INTO THE DEPTHS OF LOVE : CHAPTER 71 – 80

Luke was shocked to see Richard crying, but he needed to know what had led to it.

A man like Richard wouldn’t cry over something trivial.

“What did you do to Kristin?” he asked, knowing how dangerous Richard could be when angry.

“I…” Richard struggled to get the words out. He was too ashamed to admit that he had laid a hand on a woman—especially Kristin.

“You did what?” Luke demanded, eager to know what had happened.

“I… I slapped her,” Richard finally confessed.

Luke couldn’t believe it at first. He knew Richard acted like a madman when angry, but he never imagined his anger would lead to slapping Kristin.

“You did what? What were you thinking?!” Luke raged at Richard.

No doubt he was furious at Richard for hitting a woman he considered not just a friend, but like a kid sister.

“I let my anger get the best of me,” Richard cried out in regret. He was shattered, and if he could turn back time to prevent himself from hurting Kristin, he would do it in a heartbeat.

“Anger! Anger! Anger! I kept warning you to control your anger, but you wouldn’t listen, and now you’ve inflicted it on an innocent woman!” Luke scolded.

He wasn’t scolding Richard just to lecture him; he was genuinely mad. If Richard weren’t his boss, he would’ve punched him.

“It wasn’t intentional. I care about Firefly a lot; I’d never dare to hurt her.”

“But you did, Richard! I can’t believe you could hurt Kristin! I thought you said you loved her!” Luke raged.

“Of course I do,” Richard’s voice cracked, his face wet with tears.

“Then work on your anger! Everyone has the right to get angry sometimes, but no woman will want to be with a man who can’t control his anger!” Luke shouted and rushed out to find Kristin.

Richard sat on the floor, overwhelmed with regret. He recalled the shock on Kristin’s face when he slapped her.

“You’re a coward!” he cursed himself again, venting his anger on the wall.

When his bleeding knuckles became too weak to keep punching the wall, he collapsed on the floor, tears of regret streaming down his face.

Both of his hands were bleeding dreadfully from how he had vented on the wall.

Picking up his phone, blood from his hands staining his face, Richard searched for a therapy center online.

Finding one, he quickly called.

“Love-Care Center, how may I help you?” a woman answered.

“I need help. I don’t want to be an angry maniac anymore. I need your help,” he broke down in tears.

Luke kept searching for Kristin, trying to figure out where she might have gone.

He couldn’t think of a place because Kristin hadn’t spent much time in Vegas.

He didn’t want to call her because he knew she was in a state where she wouldn’t answer the phone.

An idea struck him, and hoping she might be there, Luke rushed to the airport—and he was right.

Kristin was standing at the entrance, unsure whether she should go in.

She had nothing with her.

“Kristin!” Luke called out, rushing to her. She looked at him with watery eyes.

“Going back to Glenwood isn’t the best option,” Luke said, shaking his head.

“I don’t want to go back,” she replied in a tearful voice.

“Then what are you doing here?”
