Chapter 1
As i walked into the school compound,i saw Tobi and her friends walking out of the compound,I wanted to approach her and tell her what I feel about her,of course my courage failed me yet again.I loved everything about her,the way she walks,talks, smile and her personality, she didnt know me,I knew her from a distance,we were in different departments and different levels,I was in my third year,while she was in her second..
I often see her at the carteen, the school gate and some other parts of the school.i had tried my best to get her off my mind,but the more I tried,the harder it gets.no girl had ever made me felt that way, I’d summon courage and rehears all to tell her ,but once I see her,I won’t even have the courage to go closer to her, let alone present all I had rehears.whenever I see her,I don’t know what to do.I woudn’t even be able to say a word….
She was looking very beautiful as always,I turned and admired her as she walked pass me with her friends..
Oboy no go die ohhhh,a voice whispered to my ears,it was kunle,my annoying roommate and best friend,Oremi,kiloshele,what are you looking at,he asked,Alaye leave here joor,see how you startled me,I said…..
So,is that babe you are looking at as usual,,come on man let’s go home,but for real guy,if you love her,walk up to her and tell her you do,instead of always starring at her anytime you see her, kunle said,,,
K,I know I have to talk to her, but I don’t know how,I love her so much,I said….I never see guy wey mumu like you,oga,, if you love somebody walk to her,and tell her you love her,na so African China sing arm,dey there dey dull…abeg I dey H,make we go find food chop,food even dey that hostel sef,you cook before you go class,guy answer me na,kunle shouted at me,,,Kunle please you are simply annoying,get to the house and look for what to eat I said to him.
Life went by in school,and of course I saw my angel from afar daily without her knowing I existed,I was okay seeing her daily,not until I started seeing her with a very handsome guy almost all the time.obviously she had found herself a boyfriend.You see your mumu,you dey wait make tree grow, another man dey chop the fruits already,guy your mumu no too much,I think I have heard enough about your misery girl,I am happy she had found someone,so that you can be focused.kunle teased.
I had to think less of her,since she was already out of reach,but deep down my heart ,I still loved her and wished she was mine.soon I was in my finals,I tried my best to concentrate, studied and graduated in flying colours.i went for service in Portharcout were I was posted,and then returned to Lagos my base to look for a job.
It’s been Eight months and I was yet to get a job, thankfully one evening I received a message in my mail,saying I should resume in a company I had went for interview some months back.i was very Grateful to God,and the job was amazing.i was doing well,I could take care of myself and my mother and still have enough to save…
I was able to secure a place for my friend K,and we were working together in the same place.
One afternoon during lunch break,I and K went to have something to eat,when we saw this beautiful and elegant lady walked majestically in to the restaurant,she was so adorable,, taking a closer glance,it was my crush from the University.K see,see who just walked in,I said…
My oh my,oboy this your crush that year for school don fresh ohhh Wella, kunle said, kunle bring your voice down na,you wan dey shout,I replied.guy,oya na your shoot be this ohhh,go and tell her how you feel,all through school days you couldn’t say a word,guy if you refuse saying something now,I doubt if you’d ever see her again.man up for once and speak up.i thought about what he said,and knew it was high time I spoke up.i sipped my glass of juice and went to her table.
Good day beautiful,I said,she raised her head and was starring at me In a kind of way…..
Your face looks familiar,she spoke,like I have seen you somewhere before she said,though not very sure where,but I know I have seen that face.oh you are right, would you mind my joining you,I asked,no I don’t mind, you can,she replied…
I sat ,I am Temitope,you can call me Temi.nice meeting you Tope,I prefer the last four letters, not the first four letters,she said.we both laughed,okay boss lady, whether Temi or Tope they are both my name’s,,,most people call me Temi,but I wouldn’t mine having a beautiful lady like you calling me Tope..I said.
Please stop with the flattering,she said,i am Tobechukwu ,please call me Tobi.(if only she knew I had known her name for a long time),,,wooowww from the Eastern part of the country,that’s great.i said.
But for real Tope you look familiar.she insisted.well you are right ,from University of Benin I guess.i said.
you graduated from Uniben,no wonder,maybe I would
have seen you around the school.she said yeesss maybe I said.i didn’t want to tell her I had been following her around like a lost puppy loving her from afar.
TEMI, it’s way past our lunch break, Kunle came in to ruin the moment,Tobi please meet my friend Kunle,Kunle Tobi,they shock hands and exchanged pleasantries.please if you don’t mind I’d like to have your phone no,so we keep in touch,okay she replied, i gave her my phone and she typed her no.i cleared her bills without her knowledge and then went back to the office
