OUR MARRIAGE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER : EPISODES 31 – 40

Episode 36

But why am I doing all this just to make her happy? Then I saw her. She has a way of bringing joy to everyone around her.

She possesses so much happiness to offer, and I wish I could contribute to her well-being.

Despite her never being controlled by anyone and always having independence in her life, she fulfills all the responsibilities of a good daughter-in-law and wife.

She ensures that they have their breakfast and medications on time.

It’s my fault for not making time for them. She always waits for me to have breakfast, but I never show up.

She was smiling while interacting with those young children.

Her eyes were shining in the sunlight. She didn’t care about her gown, which was covered in mud.

She was fully engrossed in laughter and play with the kids, who clearly adored her. I also enjoyed myself tremendously. It was an amazing time.

“Ahana, it’s time for us to leave. Mom is calling us. Maybe we can come back later,” I told her while she was engrossed in a painting workshop.

Unbeknownst to her, I secretly took several pictures of her.

We had to have lunch with the family as well.

She smiled widely at me. It was the first time I saw such warmth in her smile.

I wish I could make her smile more often because she truly deserves it.

“Ansh, can’t we stay a little longer? I need to make up for not being able to visit them after our wedding,” she said, giving me a sweet look.

“Please, Bhaiya, stay. Let Di stay. We are having fun,” a young girl came up to me and held my hand.

She was incredibly adorable. Despite not having parents, they seemed so happy.

“Hey, kids. It’s time for lunch, and then you need to study.

Don’t you all want to be like Ahana Di and Ansh Bhaiya one day?” the headmistress of the orphanage said when she noticed us with the children.

I didn’t realize that three and a half hours had passed. We had spent so much time there, but it still didn’t feel like enough.

“Yes, ma’am!” all the kids shouted.

As we were about to leave, they ran towards us with roses and gave us both a warm hug.

Ahana was overjoyed. We returned their embrace and said goodbye, promising to come back and visit them soon.

Mom had already left early for the Sehgal’s. Ahana and I had to follow.

“Ansh, wasn’t that fun? I swear those kids are so adorable. I don’t understand why life has been so unfair to them,” she said, becoming slightly emotional.

I put my arm around her shoulders. The car was parked a short distance away, so we walked towards it.

She turned towards me, and that’s when I noticed paint on her cheeks. She looked incredibly cute.

“Ahana, they are beautiful and innocent. But no one can change destiny.

However, you know what? God created wonderful and beautiful people like you who make them forget their worries and help them live a happier life. Isn’t that right?” I said.

She looked at me, her eyes almost filled with tears. There was no doubt that I had an emotional wife.

She feels the pain of others as if it were her own.

I took out my handkerchief and wiped the paint off her cheeks and hands.

“Ansh….” She said while I was busy wiping her hands.

“Hmmm….” I said finally looking at her.
“Thank you for whatever you did today. I never expected this. You made me and Ma very happy.

Thanks for everything. And also, I’m sorry that I was so foolish for messing with you.” I put the kerchief back in my pocket.

“Ansh… Give me that. I’ll wash and return it to you.”

“Ahana… Come on, yaar. I didn’t know that my wife could even say sorry or thanks to anyone. I thought she never did say anything to anyone.”

I said, laughing, trying to lighten the mood. We both were standing in the middle of the road. Quietly, I kept the kerchief in my pocket.

“Whatever… Ansh… But seriously, It Was The Best Day of My Life.” she said, laughing. It was something very genuine and pure.

“Ma says that when we apologize or thank someone, we are not being small or it’s not beneath one’s dignity.
