PREGNANT AND REJECTED : EPISODE 31 – 40

I ran down the stairs and got to the conference room where I saw some ladies working and cleaning the room .

“Excuse me ladies”. I said as they all turned to look at me.

“Oh my gosh! It’s one of the FOUR”. They squealed

“Hello ladies, please I’ve got no time to waste. Have you seen a lady here this morning? She is of average height…slim and beautiful with brown eyes”.

“That lady at the guest room?

“The one that slept with Harris yesterday during the party. I heard she’s a vrgn”

“I heard her mo.aning and crying. Such a naive child, she should be sixteen or fifteen”. Another said

“She walked barefooted not quite long”. The babbled and nattered like little children on and on. I just walked away towards my car.

How can girls spit nonsense!

So annoying! I held the steering wheel in annoyance as I drove along and spotted a lady who was barefooted heading towards a beach .

Then I remembered those blabbering mouths , they talked about a lady who was barefooted.

“VALERIE? Her name slipped out of my tongue as I parked the car and ran towards her .

I was still walking and smiling faintly when someone held my hand forcefully.

“Valerie? The person said and I turned back to see Drake’s pale face staring at mine .

“Drake? What are you doing here? How did you find me? What’s your problem with me? I said trying to remove my hand from his but he held me tight.

“We’re going home”. He said and kept dragging me .

“Let go off my hand Drake before I do something stupid”. I said

“You’ve done something stupid and you even endangered lives. What’s wrong with you Valerie? He stopped for a while and dropped my hand with full force .

My hand swung to the back and to the front. I winced in pain .

“Stop treating me as if I’m a baby, stop talking to me like my father”. I sobbed so hard .

I was not mindful of her tears at all. I need to speak sense into her head.

It’s enough she hurt me. She doesn’t have to hurt anyone else especially Nanny Jade.

I wanted to h!t her across the face but I just held her peace .

“I’ll talk to you as a father because your parents does not have the time to take care of you”. I yelled at her .

And a slap landed on my face.

“Don’t you dare utter that statement ever in your life… don’t you dare”. She said

I didn’t say anything,I held her hand and continued dragging her towards my car .

“Drake? She shouted trying to pull my hand away from hers.

“Drake”. She said her voice reduced

I wasn’t ready to listen, I didn’t even care about her bare legs .

“Drake…Drake I’m sorry”. She sobbed.

“I’m sorry…I’m sorry for what I said,I’m sorry for what I’ve done, I’m sorry for the way I’ve hurt everyone”. She cried like a baby the I paused.

I dropped her hand as she cried then I turned back and gave her a warm hug .

“I’m sorry”. She said mumbling

After few minutes of silence and just tears between us, I held her hand gently and took her to the car .

The rest of the journey was so silent till we got to her house. I parked at their parking lot and she came down.

“Drake? I’m sorry”. She said as we were about entering her house.

I didn’t say anything, I only took her hand and was about to open the door when the knob of the door was turned open .

Drake was so mad at me. I know I’ve done it to the peak, I’ve never seen him act like that before until now.

I was still feeling the guilt of the slap on his cheeks .

He turned the knob open and Mom and Dad stood in front of the door with worried look written on their faces . They stood there staring at me with two policemen.

What are they doing together? Why are they home? Where is Nanny Jade?

“Mom? Dad? I said looking at them as I removed my hand from Drake’s.

“Valerie? They both called .

We all entered the house again and sat down.

“Where is Nanny Jade? I said not sitting down as I scanned the whole room.

“Where she is supposed to be since she couldn’t take care of you”. Mom said .

I was a bit confused.

“What do you mean where she’s supposed to be? She didn’t take care of me? I don’t understand”. I said .

“Yes, she’s at the police station”. Dad said .

“WHATTTTT???? I shouted and looked at Drake who avoided my eyes.

“Yes, she couldn’t provide you for 2 days . I knew she was up to no good”. Mom said

“Mom? Dad? Wait! Why do I even give you those titles thy doesn’t fit you? Why are you ruining my life? You said Nanny Jade doesn’t care about me…have you ever for once checked up on me to see if I was doing well”. My eyes was lit and I was burning with fury.

“Drake let’s go”. I said to him heading outside.

“Young lady,come back here this minute your parents sat talking to you and you wanna walk out? Dad said .

I stopped and faced him.

“I regret coming into this family, I wished you’re the one walking out of my life right now…I wish you didn’t even come home at all because Nanny Jade was there when you weren’t.

She cares when you didn’t and here you are talking about walking away from you? You rejected me Dad, remember? I said those words as tears streamed down my cheeks.

“How dare you? Mom stood up and wanted to slap me when Drake held her hand .

“Please ma’am,she’s going through a lot already and she needs some space…. just give her time after all,she’s right”. Drake said as we both left the sitting room.

We headed towards Nanny Jade’s and she was there in the station. She was even handcuffed and placed in a cell .

“Nanny Jade? I called and knelt down .

Jennifer, Jeffery and their Mom was there too.

A police officer followed Drake after we paid the bills and bailed her out .

She was allowed to come out and she hugged me with tears in her eyes.

“I’m sorry Nanny, I’m so sorry I made you worry about me, I’m sorry you were locked up because of me” . I wept on my knees .

“I thought I had lost you” . She said cupping my jaw.

She didn’t even ask me where I was . She still embraced me like the prodigal daughter.
