“Hey”. I got to where Diamond stood waiting for me. “I got your message from Jessamyn saying I should come over”.
She smiled seeing me. “Finally. You are here. What took you so long?”.
“There’s traffic on the road. And its hard to pass through a crowd who wants your signature”.
“Always bragging that you are famous”.
“What? I’m not bragging, I’m telling you the truth here. Outside the hospital gate is a crowd filled with people, somehow, I don’t know, they found out that I was on my way here to the hospital”.
“Why are you looking at me?”. She scoffed. “I never said anything. And I know how you like being discreet about your whereabouts so don’t give me that look because I didn’t say nothing”.
“Okay, fine. I’ve heard you. So whats this important message?”.
“What?”.
“Come on, Diamond. The stuff about Nicole?”. I say lowly.
“Wow! Never thought the day would come when you’ll say her name without getting angry or all emotional”.
“I know right. She really destroyed my life”. I cringe remembering what she did to me. “I can never forget how miserable I was after everything”.
“Well forget it now because news flash, she’s still around”.
I turn back to my sister. “What?”.
“Yeah. I just said that. That devilish girl, Nicole is still around”.
“What are you talking about? She can’t be around, she’s locked up in jail”.
“Well she escaped”. Diamond retorted.
“What? How is that possible? I thought Dad instructed them to make sure she rots in jail”.
“Like I said, she escaped. And now, the little Miss Psycho is back in Florida. You just had to date someone crazy like her “.
“Wait. How did you know about this?”. I ask feeling paranoid hearing that Nicole was back.
“The detectives on the case investigated and found out that she was the one who toyed with Sam’s car brakes”.

“Woah! Woah! Wait!”. Violet spoke up glaring at me. “Where did you get that ?”.
“Why ask that question? Does it matter where she got it from?”. Heidi asked.
“Yes, it matters because thats Xavier’s guitar and I know he always places it in the music studio upstairs. I want to know how she got it or maybe, perhaps she went there and stole it”.
“W-What?!!”. I stuttered moving back surprised by her outburst. “No way. I didn’t steal this”.
“That is a celebrity guitar. People like you aren’t supposed to touch it. Then how come its in your possession?”.
“Do you really think its necessary to do this?”. Heidi asked butting in again.
“What are you talking about?”. Violet snapped back. “Of course, It is. Can’t you see that I’m trying to find out what a commoner like her is doing with that guitar? And whether she stole it?”.
“And I said, I didn’t steal it”. I spoke up again more loudly.
“Excuse me, I wasn’t talking to you, you speak only when you are being spoken to “.
“Okay, Violet. Thats enough”. Jayden Roy interrupted. “Stop it! We are in the middle of judging a competition”.
“This is way more important”.
“No, its not. I don’t see how its any of your business what she’s doing with the guitar. I’m pretty sure she has a good explanation but I would like it if you had let her first perform instead of attacking with those questions”.
Wow!
Did he just stand up for me?
Like, Seriously?
“Jayden, you don’t understand”.
“No, you don’t understand”. He retaliated back at her. “Look here, Violet, if you know you are going to be acting childish here then you should just stand up and leave instead of wasting all our time here, do you understand that?”.
She frowned. “I’m not leaving”.
“Then you keep quiet and let the girl sing”. Simon said.
Violet huffed angrily looking down at her clipboard while Jayden simply rolled his eyes looking away.
“So since we are all done bickering like little children”. Heidi said turning to me with a smile. “Miss, you can sing now”.
I nod still feeling nervous with the way Violet was glaring at me. I ignore her hateful and spiteful looks turning away.
I adjusted my guitar again clearing my throat lightly before I began strumming the keys slowly.
I breathed in taking a glance at the judges in front of me and my heart leaped the moment Jayden Roy gave me a reassuring smile that warmed me.
I hum the song silently still strumming the guitar slowly before I began to sing.

My voice rose high as I got to the chorus and then I couldn’t help it when my eyes closed on its accord while I continued singing the lyrics.
I can’t help it!
The song is just so enchanting!
But then I open my eyes again carefully controlling my voice as I got to a higher note still making sure it was in the same key with the guitar playing.
And then I ended the song breathing in and out raspy.
Wow!
Going on high note really deprives you of oxygen.
But I do hope I did great.
I unstrapped the guitar and took a step back looking at the judges again.
“Wow!”. Heidi smiled. “That was great, you did great, your voice was great, the way you played that guitar was great, I just loved the way you composed yourself and the thing you did with your voice while being able to keep up with playing guitar, it was really good. Keep it up, I totally love your performance”.
I smile shyly. “Thank you, ma’am”.
“You are welcome, sweetheart. You have a beautiful voice and talent. You have a solid ‘yes’ from me”.
“Thank you”.
“Okay, my turn”. Violet spoke up making my smile vanish. “Okay first, I still don’t know you got to hold Xavier’s guitar but I will get to the bottom of that”.
“Enough, just give your verdict. That is all what is needed”. Jayden Roy said.
“That was what I was about to say before you interrupted me”. Violet rolled her eyes turning to me. “Back to your awful performance which destroyed my ears”.
What?
Awful?
Heidi scoffed. “Awful? What are you saying? I’m guessing you didn’t listen well enough”.
“I listened enough and now my ears are aching”. She exaggerated. “So thats a ‘No’ from me”.
