Episode 20

Rissa and her friends arrived at the shopping mall in a blue serene car.
It’s Alex’s birthday and they decided to celebrate it together since her parents were out of the country.
Mykel was right behind them, leaning on their car and watching them go in clueless that he was around.
“I wonder the best present to get for a picky girl like you” Rissa said going through the rows of shoes and sneakers.
“I’m not picky at all! I’d accept anything at all” Alex chipped in bashfully.
“We need to get her something that a typical seventeen years old girl would want” Zoe said sticking her nose in the air.
“Yeah right, Alexandra looks and acts nothing like a seventeen” Rissa blunted and a laughter erupted from Zoe while Alex stiffened up.
“I would get you a car but looks like none of us need one! Gosh!!! Having rich parents is hard” Zoe peeved rubbing her forehead.
“How about this?” Rissa asked holding onto a glittering diamond dress.
“Oh my God! Its ravishing” Alex blurted with enthusiasm.
“Great! Rissa has gotten something while I’m still here staring at scarfs. This one looks nice” Zoe said and picked up a randomly colored scarf from the railings.
“Yeah, it’s just like the rainbow” Alex chimed holding her cheeks.
“Well then, happy birthday Alex” She shrugged and walked to the counter.
She paused and glanced at the price tag.
“Gosh! This is so cheap!!! Alex deserves better….” She sniggered boisterously.
“She doesn’t look like she cares” Rissa interpolated and their eyes drifted to Alex who was taking selfies.
“What are we waiting for? Let’s join her”.
The two girls rushed to Alex and posed for a few selfie shots. Their voices giggling filled the atmosphere at the clothing section.
After a while, The girls marches out from the mall holding shopping bags. Mykel had been at the spot keeping himself busy with his phone.
He just wanted to know where Rissa was and if she was okay.
After he was convinced on seeing her with her friends, he set to leave but not until the appearance of two strangers stopped him.
They were dressed in black and acted suspiciously.
The girls were still taking selfies and laughing as they approached the parking lot, unaware of the danger that lies ahead.
Rissa opened the door of the car and before they could step in, two huge men had them surrounded.
The driver was not even in the car making Rissa panic a bit.
“Who are you….” She whispered completely muzzled.
One of the men snatched Alex’s cellphone and forced it into his pocket.
“Hey! Thats mine, you thief!” She scowled.
“Now, give us your wallet….if you don’t want us to harm you” The other one’s cocky voice demanded.
Rissa was yet to understand what was going on. She has never found herself in such a situation.
No one has ever asked her to surrender something she has this way.
She looked around for help.
Mykel, who has been staring decided to help out.
Yeah…he wasn’t ready to risk his freedom by getting into a fight. The probation officers would throw him back in jail if he gets caught.
And the last thing on his mind now, is helping miss rudeness.
He took off his tie and coat and left it with the driver.
“I’ll be back” He assured but he was held back.
“You can’t do this alone” He said and followed him to the fierce scene.
Rissa’s eyes dilated the moment it clashed on Mykel’s.
She thought she was starting to hallucinate.
“Is there a problem, here?” Mykel asked the men.
They looked at him without saying a word.
“He took my phone!” Alex screamed and what happened next was unexpected, one of the men threw the driver a hard punch that sent him to the floor.
Mykel attacked him and they both ruffled themselves on the floor.
Rissa’s real driver appeared and she screamed angrily at him;
“You worthless pig!! Where have you been???”.
Everyone took their eyes back to Mykel and the thief. The thief’s face was already covered in blood due to Mykel’s punches.
“He’s gonna kill him” Zoe whispered and Rissa’s heart skipped on hearing that.
The other thief who was being held down by the two drivers managed to get up and pounced on Mykel.
The thief held onto Mykel’s head and slammed it against the car and he slumped to the floor.
Blood trickled out from the side of his head and fear engulfed the girls…
“Call 911!!!!” Alex and Zoe yelled at once.
Rissa stood stupefied, unable to move a limb but her eyes didn’t leave Mykel.
