Chapter 28
“Can you please give me the keys. I just want to take a quick look and I will leave”Isobel begged the owner of the bed sit Oliver had lived in when she first met him a year ago.
“I already told you no. If you keep bothering me, I will call the police”The older woman threatened as she gave Isobel an angry look before walking off.
Isobel turned to leave too, heading anywhere but the hotel.
After the discovery she made, she couldn’t talk to Oliver, she didn’t want to see him.
She had been wondering why she left him a year ago and that puzzle was solved by his father who told her everything.
Just like she discovered now, she had found out that she was older than Oliver.
Back then she had felt hurt by the insults his father had threw at her but what had really made her leave was when he told her about her father bankruptcy.
She had gone back to the hotel and had talked it out with her father who confirmed everything.
Since her wedding didn’t go through, she decided to leave with her father but changed her mind when she got to the jet which was meant to take her back to the city with her father.
She had returned to the bed sit, waiting for him to return so she could talk to him but he never showed up.
A car horning at her jolt her back to the present moment. She got to the bus stop where she remembered her first bus trip with Oliver.
She got into it and once again her mind drifted off to the lady where she remembered all of the things she did with Oliver. Her brain had forgotten but her heart never forgot it.
Those few moments with Oliver were the most beautiful moment of all. If she had stayed a little longer with him. She had no doubt that she would have fallen for Oliver just like she is now.
She shouldn’t think about that. She had more important things to think about, she thought as she thought about the second reason why she couldn’t be with Oliver.
The bus stopped and she got out of it, heading to the hill top where the heart shaped with Flowers was.
She got there starring at the flower and wondering how Oliver would take it once he found out about it.
Owen had been sad when Loveth had died and had wallowed in pain, dying along with loveth.
She didn’t want that happening to Oliver. Everything was a mess right now but what she is sure about is his love for her.
He loves her just as much as she loves and it will sadden her if he wallowed in pain just like Owen, so before that happens, she will leave his life for good.
Just the thought of breaking it off with Oliver made her sad and hurt. She thought as she crouched on the cold floor to let out her tears.
That was how Oliver found her when he got to the hill top.
“Isobel”He called and that got her starring at him.
“How did you find……”She stopped as Oliver walked the few distance that pulled them apart to hug her.
“Do you know how worried have been? If you are going to cry, do that in front of me. If you are angry at me for keeping the truth from you then be angry but don’t leave me! Don’t leave without telling me where you are!”Oliver let out due to the frustration of searching around for her.
“Am sorry”Was the only thing Isobel could say as she pulled out of his arms.
“I just wanted to think for a while and not wanting to return to the hotel. I came here instead”She replied.
“As long as you are fine, I will be fine too”Oliver said as he pushed back a strand of her hair.
“About what my father told you. I…..”
“I remembered why I left a year ago”She said cutting him off.
“Really? Tell me!”He urged wanting to know and Isobel told him everything.
“I waited for you to return but you didn’t “She finished gently.
“That’s because my father took me back to the city forcefully. If I had known, I would have stayed and tried to do….”
“Even if you had stayed, I would still have left Oliver.”She said cutting him off again.
“Why? Why would you have leave. Are you angry that am much younger than you or are you embarrassed about it?”He asked
“How old are you Oliver?”She asked softly.
“What does that matter right….”
“It matters to me. So please tell me”She begged.
“Well am twenty three” he replied.
“While am twenty six. Its a huge age gap”She said softly.
“Our love for each other has nothing to do with our age. I loved you for who you are and not for anything else and am sure you love me the same way”He stated.
“I do and I also don’t care about the age gap. Though am sad that you kept the truth from me. Its just that…..”
“Don’t say it. I don’t want to hear it, let’s go home Isobel”He said.
“But Oliver…”
“No Isobel! I don’t want to hear it. Let’s go”He said firmly that she had no choice but to go with him.
They got back to the hotel in silence and when he told her that he had some business to attend to. She quickly stood in his path..
“What are doing?”He asked.
“You need to listen to me. I can’t …”
“I told you that I don’t want to hear it. I don’t want you to tell me that you are leaving me. Don’t say it”He begged.
“I have to leave. I must leave”She told him.
“Why? You said your not worried about our age difference or is that a lie”He asked with tears in his eyes.
“I meant it when I said that our age difference doesn’t matter”She told him truthfully.
“Then why? Why are you doing this?”He asked as he took hold of her arm, shaking her.
Her purse that held the paper in it dropped and the content in it Spilled out. Even the paper.
Quickly she pulled away from Oliver and bent to snatch the paper up.
“What’s that?”Oliver asked having noticed how she was behaving.
“Nothing. It isn’t something you should concern yourself with”She said to him.
“Really?”He asked as he turned to move away only for him to pull her close and snatch the paper from her.
“Give it to me Oliver! Don’t read what’s in it”She said as she tried taking the paper from him but it was too late, he had read the content.
“Is this why you said you were leaving?”he asked
“I told you not to read it”She said in reply.
“Answer me! Are you really leaving because you found out that you have few days left on earth!”He yelled demanding the truth from her.
