THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 71 – 80
THE NEXT DAY
Cassius woke up to a pounding headache, the consequences of a night spent drinking. He knew he had broken the rules; alcohol was strictly forbidden except during special occasions. He rubbed his temples, trying to alleviate the pain.
As he stood up, Belladonna entered his room, a look of concern etched on her face.
“What are you doing here?” Cassius asked gruffly, not bothering to hide his annoyance.
Belladonna held out a small pouch containing a herb. “I saved you last night. You were drunk. This herb will help with your hangover.” She said.
Cassius didn’t even glance at the herb. Instead, he glared at Belladonna, his eyes cold and unforgiving.
“So why are you still here? Did you think I’d consider you because she’s with another man now?” He asked.
Belladonna’s expression remained calm, but her voice took on a hint of anger.
“What are you talking about?, Cassius.” We asked.
“Just like you, I know how to wait. I’ll keep waiting until she comes back to me. She’ll realize the human boy isn’t worth her love, and she’ll come crawling back to beg me.”Cassius smirked confidently.
Belladonna’s eyes flashed with anger. “You’re really a jerk, you know that right?” She asked.
“But you can’t resist the jerk.”Cassius chuckled, his smile condescending.
Belladonna’s face twisted in disgust. “Who says I can’t? You know what? I’m finally done with all this. Done waiting for you for more than three years. I’m so done, and I mean it.” She snapped.
Cassius raised an eyebrow, his smirk faltering for a moment. “What are you talking about?” He asked.
“I, Belladonna Edward, accept your rejection and will no longer be your mate.” Belladonna said coldy while glaring at him.
Cassius’s laughter was mocking, dismissive. “You’re kidding, right?” He asked.
“I’ll never joke about something like that. I hope you’re happy now. You finally have the freedom you’ve always wished for and also good luck in getting the girl.” She said and with that, she turned and stormed out of the room, leaving Cassius looking taken aback.
“She’s joking. She’ll soon come back and start begging me.”He muttered to himself.
Cassius’s gaze fell on the herb Belladonna had left behind. He picked it up, drinking the contents in one swift motion.
Meanwhile, Belladonna bumped into Thane in the corridor. He caught her by the arms, steadying her.
“You should be careful,” Thane said gently, his eyes scanning her face.
But his expression changed to one of concern when he saw the tears streaming down her face.
“Are you okay?” he asked worriedly, his voice soft and gentle.
Belladonna nodded, trying to clean her tears. “I’m fine.” She said.
Thane’s eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched in anger.
“Is it my brother again?” He asked.
Belladonna shook her head, trying to compose herself.
“I just want to be alone. We’ll talk later.” She said.
Thane’s expression softened, and he nodded. “Okay, but if you need someone to talk to, I’m here.”
Belladonna forced a smile and nodded before turning and running off.
Thane called after her, “Belladonna!” but she was already gone.
Belladonna reached her room, slamming the door shut behind her. She lay on her bed, her tears flowing freely, but she was determined that these would be her last tears. She would never cry because of Cassius again.
