THE MISTRESS’ DAUGHTER : CHAPTER 81 – 90

Just then, Thane reached out to touch Belladonna’s hair, and Cassius reacted without thinking. He sped across the room, grabbing Thane’s hand before he could reach Belladonna’s hair.

The two of them looked at him in confusion, Belladonna’s laughter dying on her lips.

“Why did you want to touch her hair?” Cassius asked, his voice sounding strange even to his own ears.

Thane looked at him like he was crazy. “She has a leaf in her hair.” He said.

Belladonna’s eyes widened, and she reached up to touch her hair. “That must be when I went to the lake.” She said.

Cassius’s eyes locked onto the leaf, and without thinking, he reached out and gently removed it from Belladonna’s hair. Their eyes met, and for a moment, they just stared at each other.

Thane cleared his throat, breaking the spell. “Uh, thanks, Cassius.”

Cassius’s face grew hot with embarrassment. “Thane, I have something important to tell you.”

Thane raised an eyebrow. “What is it?”

Cassius hesitated, realizing he didn’t actually have anything to say. “Uh, never mind. Just…just go train your students or something.”

Thane looked at him like he was crazy, but he shrugged and walked away.

As soon as Thane was out of earshot, Cassius turned to Belladonna. “You…uh…you should be careful. Thane can be…persistent.”

Belladonna looked at him, “I can take care of myself, Cassius.” She said and walk away from him.

Cassius’s face grew hot with embarrassment.

“Right. Of course. Sorry.” He yelled after her.

He turned and walked away, feeling like a complete idiot.

As he walked out of the training room, he heard Thane’s voice behind him.

“What did you want to tell me before?” He asked.

“Just go to your room and stop distracting her” Cassius said.

“Distracting who?” Thane asked Cassius didn’t respond and just left.

“The fool is finally coming to his senses” Thane said while chuckling.

The sun had just begun to set, casting a warm orange glow over the forest. The students of the academy were milling about, enjoying the freedom of the evening after a long day of classes.

Thane, however, had other plans. He had been drawn to the abandoned side of the forest, a place where few students dared to venture.

The rumors of demons and evil creatures lurking in the shadows had kept most students away, but Thane was not one to believe in rumors.

He had been coming to this side of the forest for weeks now, and he had yet to encounter anything out of the ordinary.

As he walked towards the waterfall, the sound of rushing water grew louder, and he felt a sense of peace wash over him.

He had always found solace in the natural beauty of the forest, and this spot was one of his favorites.

But as he approached the waterfall, he noticed something that made his heart skip a beat. There was someone swimming in the water. Thane’s eyes narrowed as he tried to get a better look. The person was a girl, and she seemed to be alone.

Thane’s curiosity got the better of him, and he crept closer, trying not to make a sound. The girl looked up, and their eyes met. Thane felt a jolt of surprise, and the girl’s eyes widened in shock.

“What are you doing here?” Lilith asked, her voice trembling slightly.

Thane shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. “I should be the one asking. I’ve been coming here alone for like a month.” He said.

Lilith’s eyes flashed with anger. “Me too, so this belongs to me.” She said.

Thane chuckled, a low, husky sound. “If you think I’ll leave, then you’re really wrong.” He muttered.
