“SON?!” Romina called more like a question as she stared at her mom. “Why do you look surprised?” Mrs. Zaragoza asked.

“She is faking it, mom,” Neil started with a smile and held Mrs. Zaragoza’s shoulder.

“Faking…. What the heck is going on here?!” Romina inquired, loudly. “I was going to ask you the same thing, Romina,” Mrs. Zaragoza replied, she called her name with disgust.

“What?!” Romina freaked, her mother spoke and looked at her as if she was her mortal enemy.

“Now is not the time mom, you need to rest,” Neil said and Mrs. Zaragoza nodded.

Neil turned to the maid beside him and ordered. “Get her a glass of water.”

“Pardon,” the maid uttered slightly shocked.

“You heard me!” He growled. “Yes,” she replied and rushed to the kitchen.

“If you will excuse us mom needs to rest,” Neil said and helped Mrs. Zaragoza walk past Romina.

However, he couldn’t because Romina held Mrs. Zaragoza’s arm.

Mrs. Zaragoza looked at her with disdain but she ignores the hateful and strange looks.

“I believe this is a joke,” she said and Mrs. Zaragoza brushed her hand off.

“What joke are you talking about?” She asked. “Mom, why….” Mrs. Zaragoza interrupted whatever it was she was about to say.

“I am not your mother! I have a son, not a daughter, and I have only one child. I will advise you to go out there and look for the whôre who gave birth to you,” She spat with a straight face and Romina knew it was not a joke nor a prank of any kind.

Mrs. Zaragoza turned to Neil who was trying his best not to laugh. “Let’s go, son,” she said and Neil accompanied her upstairs.

Romina watched in bewilderment, as her legs moved backward unconsciously, she lost her balance and almost fell but Elias was fast to catch her.

“Am dreaming, aren’t I?” She asked with a sad smile. “What is going on, Romina?” Nanny Gloria inquired as she moved closer.

“I wish I know nanny,” she replied. “You should sit,” Elias advised and walked her to the couch.

“Your mom seems to be suffering from amnesia,” Zoey blurted and all eyes were on her.

“What do you mean?” Romina asked as she tried her best to hold her tears.

“Amnesia is a state where…,”

“I know what amnesia means!” Romina snapped at her. “What I don’t understand is why my mom thinks Neil is her son! Why would she think that b@stard is her child?! I am her daughter! I loved and grew up with her, why can’t she remember me? Just why!?” She screamed as tears successfully left her eyes.

Elias tried hugging her hoping it would calm her down but she pushed him away, what she needed was not a shoulder to cry on but someone to give a reasonable answer to her questions.

“Should we still look for Jerry?” The detective asked and Romina raised her head, that was right there is someone who can help her.

“Yes, please find him,” she replied. “Okay, I will take my leave now,” he said and left.

“Neil poisoned mom’s mind,” Romina stated. “The question is, how did he do that?” She directed her question at no one as she stood up.

“If she has full amnesia, he must have told her a fake story, someone with amnesia will believe whatever they are told,” Elias said.

“How do we tell her the truth? She is convinced that whatever it was Neil told her is the truth,” Nanny Gloria said.

Romina sat on the couch and took a handful of her hair, her eyes were watery and her heart was arching.

“There is always a solution, you just have to believe,” Zoey said and Elias sat beside her.

While upstairs, Mrs. Zaragoza dropped the glass of water on a table and walked toward the window.

Neil took her to the room she was bedridden, that was her room before the accident anyway.

She felt at home and an unexplainable joy ran through her veins as she stared through the window.

“Are you okay mom?” Neil asked behind her. “Yes,” she replied with a smile.

“Don’t be bothered by Romina, okay,” he said and she nodded. “Why does she feel familiar though, my heart ached whenever she spoke,” Mrs. Zaragoza said and Neil chuckled nervously.

“What do you mean?” Neil asked. “I don’t understand, son,” she replied.

“You should rest, you are only stressed,” he said and helped her get in bed, he covered her with the duvet.

“Don’t leave my side,” she said and he nodded, he sat on the space beside her and watched her sleep.

‘This is just the beginning, aunt. I will use you in making your daughter’s life miserable, it will be too late when you find out the truth,’ Neil thought with a mischievous grin.

Neil walked down the stairs with his hand tucked in his pocket, he whistle a song happily, his smile dilated as he got closer to Romina who was standing by the stairs.

“Hey sis,” he said sarcastically. “What’s wrong? You look lost, is something bothering you?” He asked mockingly and walked past her

“What did you do to her?” Romina asked with a straight face.

“What are you talking about?” He questioned back pretending to be clueless.

“You know what am talking about, Neil!” She snapped and turned to face him.

“You sound like a lost puppy, oh I know what’s wrong, you lost your mommy,” he laughed and pointed a finger at her, he enjoyed touching her.

“Romina Zaragoza lost her mother,” he laughed harder while Romina watched in silence.

Neil stopped laughing and took slow steps closer to Romina. “Does it hurt?” He asked.

“Yes, it will hurt when I beat you in your own game!” She replied, fiercely.

“Courage! I like that, but you can be too courageous you know,” he said and walked to the couch, he jumped on it and moaned comfortably.

“I never knew this couch was soft,” he said and Romina walked closer to him.

“I wonder if mom will be soft on you when she finds out the truth,” she said and he sat up.

“Same here, but I wonder if she will have the power to react when the truth comes out,” he said.

“What is your plan, bstard?!” She growled. “That is…..” He trailed off and chuckled.

“What makes you think I will tell you? I am not stupid Romina, my plan is mine and they are known to me alone. The only thing you should think and worry about is your safety,” he said.

“What are you going to do to me?” She asked. “I won’t hurt you, Nah I don’t do that but I ain’t sure if mon will be lenient with you. She will be so enraged when she finds out the bitter truth,” he said with a mocking smile.

“What truth?” Romina asked, frustratedly. She was getting tired of his drama, he has no right to speak and act towards her that way.

But, she needs all the patience in the world because Neil is one step ahead of her.

“The truth that you threw me out of the house after her accident with dad, and you hid her from the world,” he paused and stood up, he leaned closer and whisper into her ear. “That you are the cause of her sickness.”

“You animal!” Romina growled and held him by the collar. “I am going to kll you mark my words! I will be your downfall!” She shouted while he laughed like a maniac instead.

Zoey ran towards them and made Romina release Neil’s grip. “Control your anger sis, you are only going to give mom more reason to hate you,” he said and arranged his shirt.

“Mom? Doesn’t your tongue hurt as you call her that?” Romina inquired.

“You are right sis, it hurts but what can I do? I have to call her that for the meantime,” he replied and feigned a sad pout.

Romina opened her mouth to speak but he beat her to it.

“Tell mom I had something I had something important to attend to,” he said and left.

“How was your day?” Jerry inquired immediately Neil stepped into the house.

“Annoying, it was hard calling that woman mom,” he replied.

“You have to get used to that,” Jerry replied.

“We should celebrate,” Neil said and brought out two glasses of wine and a bottle of wine.

“Celebrate?” Jerry asked and he nodded. “Yes, I won’t have this victory if not for you,” Neil replied as he poured the wine into the glasses.

Neil gave him a glass while he took the other, they raised their glasses to the air while Neil said. “Cheers to more Victories.”

“Cheers,” Jerry replied and they clicked glasses. The door opened and a young lady walked in.

“Nicole, what brings you here?” Neil asked with a smirk. “Is that the first thing you ought to say to your sister?” Nicole asked and he smiled.
