“Poison? Why will I try to poison you? I would never do that, not even in my worst thoughts,” nanny Gloria said innocently while Mrs. Zaragoza looked at the food disgustingly.

“Get me Romina,” Mrs. Zaragoza demanded. “Romina?” Nanny Gloria repeated a question.

“Yes,” she responded. “I’ll go get her,” Zoey said and left the dining room, she walked straight to Romina’s room and knocked gently on the door.

“Who is there?” Romina asked, tiredly. “It’s Zoey,” she replied.

“Come in,” Romina permitted and she opened the door, Romina was in bed with the duvet on her leg up to her knee and laptop on her lap.

“Mrs. Zaragoza wants you downstairs,” she informed. “Mom?” She asked with a glint of joy in her voice and her eyes lit with excitement in her eyes.

“I would advise you not to be too excited,” Zoey said and she frowned. “Why?” She inquired.

“She is throwing tantrums downstairs, she doesn’t want to eat. She claims it could be poisoned, she wants Neil too,” Zoey responded.

“Neil again!” Romina growled. “She found out he doesn’t live here and she is calling you for Questioning, I assume,” Zoey said.

Romina dropped the laptop on the bed and removed the duvet, she walked out of the room and Zoey followed behind.

“Were you contemplating coming?” Mrs. Zaragoza asked immediately she sighted Romina walking towards her.

“No,” she replied and Mrs. Zaragoza rolled her eyes.

“Why doesn’t my son live here? This is his father’s house the last time I checked,” she said.

“No, the last time I checked this is my dad’s house and Neil is just some guy who claims to be a Zaragoza but isn’t,” she replied with her arms folded under her bbs.

“I am tired of listening to your lies, so keep it to yourself,” she said and Romina scoffed.

“Lies? Do you think my words are lies? Look around mom, nothing in here speaks of Neil,” she said.

“Look, over there is the family picture. Neil is not included because he isn’t one of us! Neil is not a Zaragoza, neither is he your son nor dad’s why won’t you listen to me?” She asked, frustratedly

“That is because you manipulated your dad against him! You made him hate his son!” Mrs. Zaragoza snapped and a tear dropped on Romina’s cheek.

“He has brainwashed you, hasn’t he?” She asked lowly. “Fine, do and think whatever you want. She thinks the food is poison, let a maid fix something for her, or better still she fix something for herself, and your son is free to stay,” Romina said and walked towards the door.

“Romina,” nanny Gloria called but she walked out of the door.

Mrs. Zaragoza was speechless, she could not help but notice how hurtful Romina looks whenever they argue.

She members nothing, not even her real name. She believed everything Neil told her, Neil was with her when she woke up and was lost.

How is she supposed to believe Romina’s word, when it is the opposite of the reality she was told?

“I will ask a maid to prepare something else,” nanny Gloria said and turn to Zoey. “Let’s go,” she said and Zoey followed her to the kitchen.

Mrs. Zaragoza glanced at the perfectly placed meal on the table and guilt struck her heart, she walked to the family portrait Romina pointed at earlier.

She stood in front of it and let out a groan as she was so confused, Romina was the only child in the picture and they looked happy.

If Neil was her son and she hated Romina, why did she hold Romina with so much love?

She diverted her gaze at another picture of Romina and her, she was graduating from high school.

“Why can’t I remember anything? Why is it that what I know is the opposite of reality? What is the truth?” She asked herself as she looked at all the pictures.

There was not a single picture of Neil, it was all her, Romina, and Mr. Zaragoza.

“What are you doing here? How did you find this place in the first place? Did you follow me? What more do you want from me?” Iris bombarded Neil with questions.

“Will you let me in or I force my way?” He asked and Iris stepped out of the way.

“What is he doing here?!” Nora freaked as Neil walked into their living room.

“Good evening, mom,” Neil greeted. “I am not your mother, I never birthed a d’vil!” She snapped.

“But Iris is the devil’s bride,” he replied with a smirk and Nora felt like h!tting him.

“I am not the d’vil’s bride!” Iris snapped. “But you indirectly murdered, isn’t it the devil’s job to take souls?” He asked with a hint of mockery.

“What do you want from my daughter?” Nora inquired. “Oh, I think you know,” he replied and went to sit on an armchair.

“Leave Neil, you are not a guest,” Iris said with her finger pointed at the door.

“I live here then,” he replied. “Excuse me,” Nora uttered, shockingly.

“I either be a guest or be part of the family and since I’m not a guest I live here,” he replied.

“You are neither!” Iris snapped. “Oh, darling I will advise you to save your energy for important things,” Neil said.

“Thank goodness you know,” Nora muttered and Neil narrowed his gaze at her.

“Know what Mother?” He asked. “That you are worthless!” She replied and went to her room in a rage.

“Why does she hate me?” Neil asked. “Everyone hates you, Neil,” Iris replied and sat on a couch fat from him and there was silence.

“Why is that?” She asked, gently or should I say hurt. “Because you are like a jerk, or you are one,” she replied.

“I’m only doing what I think is right, but everyone names me the bad guy despite doing that,” he uttered sadly.

“Out definition of right isn’t always the world’s definition of right,” she replied in a hurt voice too.

“Yeah,” he mumbled. “I have been there,” she said.

There were minutes of silence, arching heart trying to heal.

“Why are you here anyway?” She asked. “I don’t know, I was hurt and my car just drove here. My heart was yearning for you I guess,” he said.

“Hope you leave soon, your existence is a headache,” she said and stood up.

Neil brought out her phone and read the message from Jerry inquiring about his whereabouts.

“Iris,” he called and stood up. “Are you leaving?” She asked.

“Just wanna tell you good night,” he replied and walked towards her room, Iris ran after him and only caught up with him in the room.

“What the heck do you think you are doing?” She asked, angrily.

“Going to bed,” he replied and pushed her out of the way gently, he fell on her bed and close his eyes.

“Out of my room Neil!” Iris demanded but he didn’t move an inch.

Romina knocked gently on the door and waited patiently for someone to open it, after what seemed like decades to her the door was opened

“Aunt?” Diana called surprised and she forced a smile at her. “Can I come in?” Romina asked

“Hell yeah!” Draco screamed behind Diana and she turned around with a harsh glare.

“The question meant for me to answer you big head!” She screamed and turned to Romina who was already in the house.

“Come in, aunt Romina,” she said and Romina managed to smile.

She was not in her right state of mind when she left the mansion, she walked to Elias’s house and now her feets hurt.

“Where is your brother?” Romina asked. “Upstairs,” Draco replied.

“Now heading downstairs,” Diana said since he was walking down the stairs.

“Romina? Why are you here so late?” Elias asked. “Who gives a damn about why she is here, the good news is …” Draco trailed off.

“She is here,” Draco and Diana completed the sentence together, Elias could see Romina’s slightly swollen eyes and reddened cheek from afar.

“Isn’t it past your bedtime?” He asked the twins and they started grumbling. “You are a kller joy Elias,” Diana accused.

“We want to spend more time with aunt,” Draco said with a sad pout. “What about putting us to sleep?” Diana suggested.

“Sounds like the best idea!” Draco screamed and they gave each other a high five.

“Romina is tired, you guys should leave her be,” Elias said.

They turned to face Romina and gave her the questioning look that asks. ‘Are you tired?’

She nodded negatively. “I will put tuck you guys in bed,” Romina said and they held her hands as they led her to their rooms. She tucked Diana in first and then Draco.

“What happened?” Elias inquired as she walked out of the twin’s room.

She couldn’t reply when she collapse, Elias rushed to her but half of her body was already met with the cold floor.
