Hazel was planning to go to her dad’s room since she’s too scared to sleep alone right now, but as she reached for the door, Natalie walked in with a mean smile.
“You did what I said, Hazel. Good job” Natalie said and Hazel shivered, looking scared.
“So you’re afraid of me, huh?” Natalie teased.
“I’m not afraid of you!”Hazel said and Natalie laughed.
“Oh, but you should be. I can hurt you and the people you love”
“Please don’t” Hazel said almost crying.
“Just do as I say, Hazel. Don’t forget our deal, dumb girl” Natalie said and left the room leaving Hazel shaken.
Hazel squatted down as she sobbed silently,her mind drifting off to what happened two hours ago.
*FLASHBACK*
TWO HOURS AGO*
Natalie walked into Hazel’s room and she shut the door loudly behind her, making Hazel look up from the homework she’s doing.
“Why are you here? Exit the door” she said and Natalie laughed, the sound sending chills down Hazel’s spine.
“Calm down, little girl, and stop acting tough. You’re too small for me to handle”
“What do you mean?”
“I couldn’t care less about your approval, Hazel. But I need you to convince your father that you adore me and want me as his wife. He’s obsessed with your happiness, and if you sing my praises, he’ll be putty in my hands. I’ll get what I want, no matter what you think of me”
“You must be insane if you think I’ll say so!” Hazel exclaimed and Natalie’s expression darkened, her hand slipping into her pocket.
“Then you leave me with no choice, baby girl”
Hazel’s eyes widened as Natalie produced a gun, her heart racing with fear.
“Don’t think it’s a toy gun, it’s real. Read my lips carefully, little girl. If you don’t do exactly as I say, I’ll make sure your loved ones suffer a fate worse than death. Your dad, your grandparents, your aunt, uncle, and that stupid Katharina you treasure will all be destroyed, one by one. And as for you, you’ll be left alone, with nothing but the guilt of their blood on your hands. So, choose wisely, Hazel. Obey me, or suffer the consequences” Natalie said coldly and Hazel’s body trembled with fear.
“P-please don’t”
“Don’t dare think I’m bluffing, Hazel. I’ll snuff out their lives in an instant, and their blood will be on your hands. You’ll be the one responsible for their fate. So, will you comply with my demands, or will you condemn them to death? The choice is yours… for now”
Hazel’s body trembled with fear, her eyes fixed on the gun in Natalie’s hand. With a heavy heart, Hazel nodded slowly.
“I’ll do it, I’ll convince dad go marry you” she whispered, her voice barely audible.
“Excellent choice, Hazel” Natalie smiled at her.
FLASHBACK ENDS*
Hazel was still squatting on the floor crying when the door suddenly opened and Marcus came in.
“Hazel, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?”He squatted in front of her and Hazel quickly wiped her tears, trying to compose herself.
“I-I just have a stomach upset, Dad. That’s all”
“A stomach upset? That’s not like you, Hazel. You’ve been acting strange since I came back. Did Natalie do something to you?” He asked and Hazel shook her head, avoiding eye contact.
“No, Dad”
“Hazel, trust me. Whatever it is, I’ll make it right. Did Natalie say or do something to hurt you?” He asked but she didn’t say anything, she couldn’t meet her father’s gaze, fearing she’d break down and tell him the truth.
“Hazel, I know something’s wrong. You’re not telling me the truth. Please, sweetie, trust me”he asked again, but Hazel remained silent.
“Hazel, did Natalie do something to you?”he repeated again.
But Hazel’s body only shook more violently, She couldn’t speak, couldn’t reveal the truth, couldn’t even look at her father. She was trapped in a prison of fear, and Natalie’s threats echoed in her mind like a mantra of terror.
Marcus quickly pulled her into a warm embrace, holding her close as she trembled like a leaf.
“It’s okay, sweetie, I’m here. I won’t let anything or anyone hurt you” he said but Hazel’s body continued to shake, her silence screaming louder than any words.

AT A HOSPITAL, DOCTOR’S OFFICE*
Dr. Ryder entered the office and the two women turned to him.
“Mrs Gray, Katharina, thank you for waiting. I have the test results for Emily”
“What is it, Doctor? Is everything okay?”Mrs Gray asked as he sat down before them.
“I’m afraid Emily has leukemia. The tests showed abnormal white blood cell counts, and further examination confirmed the diagnosis.”
Katharina’s eyes widened in shock, her hand flying to her mouth. “Oh no, that’s terrible! What does this mean?”
“My baby, my poor baby… What are we going to do?”Mrs Gray started crying.
“We’ll need to start treatment immediately. I’ll discuss the options with you, but we’ll do everything possible to help Emily fight this”
“We’ll need to start chemotherapy immediately to combat the cancer cells. I’ll explain the treatment options and schedules, but I want to assure you that we’ll do everything possible to support Emily through this”
Mrs. Gray nodded, her eyes brimming with tears. “Whatever it takes, Doctor. We’ll do whatever it takes to help my baby girl”
Katharina put a comforting arm around Mrs. Gray’s shoulders. “We’re in this together, Emily will get through this, she’s a fighter”
“That’s the spirit. And I’ll be here every step of the way, guiding you through the process. We’ll monitor Emily’s progress closely and adjust the treatment plan as needed”
Dr. Ryder handed Mrs Gray a small folder containing Emily’s test results and treatment plan.
“Here’s all the information you need. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to me. I’m always here to help”
“Thank you, Doctor. Thank you for everything”Mrs Gray took the folder.
“What about her chances, Doctor? What are her chances of beating this?”
“Leukemia is a serious disease, but with modern medicine and treatment, Emily’s chances of recovery are good. We’ll need to monitor her closely and adjust the treatment plan as needed, but I’m optimistic about her prognosis. About her fall, nothing happened”
“Thank you, Doctor. Thank you for giving us hope”Mrs Gray said and they left his office.

NEXT DAY AT SPRINGDALE HIGH SCHOOL*
It was a free day at the school since it’s Friday and the boys are seen on the field, playing football. The students cheered from the sidelines, their voices echoing across the field.
“Go Mason!” Olivia and Madison shouted in unison, waving their arms.
“Go Jace!” Charlotte chimed in.
Jace turned to Charlotte with a wink and threw her a kiss, making her blush furiously. Then, his gaze shifted to Madison, who quickly looked away.
“I’ll be right back” she muttered to Olivia, excusing herself.
Olivia watched her friend go, curious about what was going on. She turned back to the game, her eyes fixed on Mason, who dodged an opponent with a clever move and she cheered louder.
“Mason’s team is definitely winning this” Olivia said to Charlotte.
“No my Jace’s team will win this” Charlotte said with confident and then she noticed Jace wasn’t on the field anymore.
“Where’s Jace?” She asked, looking around.

Madison entered into the class and she went to her seat, planning to stay there till closing when Jace walked in, all sweaty. Madison felt her heart skip a beat as he approached her.
“Aren’t you supposed to be on the field?” she asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
“I left because of you. You looked jealous when I blew Charlotte a kiss”
Madison rolled her eyes. “Don’t be silly”
“You know I can give you a real kiss instead”he said leaning closer.
Madison’s heart raced as she felt his warm breath on her skin.
“Jace, stop it”she said and he chuckled.
“You’re blushing, Madison. That’s adorable”
She knew she should push him away, but her body seemed to betray her.
Jace leaned in closer, his lips inches from Madison’s. She tried to protest, but her words were cut off as he pecked her lips softly. Her eyes widened in surprise, and she felt a spark of electricity run through her body.
“Jace, stop it! You’re dating my best friend” Madison whispered, trying to push him away.
“But it’s you I want,” he said.
He kissed her again and this time Madison reciprocated.
Meanwhile, Olivia and Charlotte were searching for Madison since she was taking long to come back. As they turned the corner, Olivia saw the scene and quickly grabbed Charlotte’s arm, turning her in the opposite direction.
“Let’s check the rooftop” Olivia suggested, trying to distract Charlotte from what’s happening in the classroom.
Charlotte looked confused but followed Olivia without question.

MRS GRAY’S STORE*
“Mrs Gray,I’m sorry to ask this but what about your husband?” Katharina asked and Mrs Gray look turned sad.
“I don’t want to talk about it now. He’s fine and I know where he is but I don’t want him involved in our lives” she said.
“Wait,he knows he has a daughter right?”
“He doesn’t know and it’s better that way. I will explain everything to you later but now,no”
As they sat in the store, Katharina flipped through the channels, stopping at a news program. A well-dressed woman was speaking on screen.
📺And in business news, Marcus Blackwood, CEO of Blackwood Wine Company, has announced a new wine launch party to be held at the company’s estate tomorrow night. This highly anticipated event is expected to draw many influential guests from the wine industry and beyond. Blackwood Wine Company has been a leader in the industry for decades, and this new wine is rumored to be their most exquisite creation yet”
Both Katharina and Mrs Gray turned their attention to the TV, their eyes fixed on the woman as she continued to speak.
📺The launch party promises to be a night to remember, with fine wine, gourmet cuisine, and live music. It’s an event that’s not to be missed, and we can expect to see many familiar faces from the wine industry in attendance”
Katharina’s eyes shined with interest as she turned to Mrs Gray.
“I think I’ll have to convince Marcus to take me as his plus one” she said smiling and Mrs Gray chuckled.
“I have no doubt you’ll be able to persuade him, Katharina. You two are quite the couple, after all” she said and Katharina blushed.
“It’s just so funny how we clicked so fast, Mrs Gray. It’s like we’ve known each other for ages”
“I’m surprised too. Are you enjoying your new phone?”
“Of course! But I don’t have Marcus’ number,I will collect it when I see him” she replied.
A customer came in and Mrs Gray quickly went to attend to her.

BLACKWOOD WINE COMPANY*
Everyone seemed very busy. Workers were running around, getting ready for a big party tomorrow night. The party was to launch a new wine, and everyone was excited.
Marcus came out of his office, his face red with anger. His secretary was with him, trying to keep up with his fast pace. The workers greeted him but he didn’t acknowledge them leaving them wondering what was wrong.
“Mr. Blackwood! Mr. Blackwood!” Reporters stationed outside the building called out, thrusting their microphones forward.
🎙️Can you tell us about the new wine? What makes it so special?
But Marcus ignored them, his gaze fixed straight ahead. His bodyguards quickly moved in, forming a protective barrier around him as they escorted him through the crowd.
“No comments, gentlemen. He will address the media at the launch party tomorrow night” Rhea said and they entered the car.
The car drove away, leaving the reporters and workers behind. Everyone was wondering what was wrong with Marcus. Was it something to do with the new wine? Or was it something else entirely?
Only Marcus knew, and he wasn’t telling. For now, he just sat in the car, his anger burning inside him like a fire.
The car screeched to a halt at the police station. Marcus came out and headed to the station still looking furious.
“I need to see someone in charge,” he said to the officer on duty.
The officer looked up, startled.
“Uh, okay, Mr Marcus. Let me get the chief”he said but Marcus didn’t wait and he marched up to the counter.
“Get me a gun” he ordered.
“Mr. Marcus, I’m not sure that’s a good idea”
“I said get me a gun! I need to kill someone!”
The officer’s eyes widened in alarm.
“Sir, I can’t just give you a gun. Who do you want to kill?”
“That’s none of your business. Just get me the gun”
The officer hesitated, clearly unsure what to do.
“Sir, I need to ask you some questions”
“Get me the gun!” he slammed his fist on the counter.
