CHAPTER 70
Maxwell came closer again, and she rushed backwards so he wouldn’t catch up, but she stumbled on the desk, and she almost fell but thanks to Maxwell’s arms which grabbed her waist.
He guided her to her chair, then he made her sit and rested his palms on the chair arms, staring down at her.
“Wh…what?” She asked, unable to look up.
“Francesca was right, you’re like a baby” he said, and she finally looked up.
Immediately their eyes met, she tried looking away but he quickly held her chin gently, so their eyes stayed connected.
“Let’s…get back to… work” she said, and he nodded.
“Alright” he said and let go of the chin.
He walked out of the office with his hands in his pocket, and Jemima started blowing air out of her mouth, holding her chest.
Maxwell got back to his office and settled on his seat, then he felt something on his left palm.
He opened it and saw her hairband, the beads are a mix of pearls and crystal, so pretty.
He smiled at it before pocketing it, and when he remembered the way she blushed earlier, he chuckled and opened his laptop to start work.

XXIV CARATS~ 10AM
Cypress sighed when she came out of the bathroom, looking so disturbed as she walked down the corridor.
She couldn’t sleep well last night, all she worried about was Maxwell and Jemima’s case.
He left the house this morning without talking to anyone or taking breakfast, does that mean he’s mad at everyone?
He has the right to choose whoever he wants,but she’s just worried.
What if Jemima dumps him? Maxwell will surely attempt svicide just like he did when they lost their parents in one day.
He had tried jumping into a river, but it was all thanks to Warren who saved him, what if history repeats itself again? He’s too emotional and she’s so scared.
She suddenly stopped walking and made to rest her forehead on the wall, but an hand covered the wall, so her head landed on the hand.
She quickly looked up to see Oliver.
“Oliver”
“I’ve been watching you, are you ok? Is this still about your brother?” He asked, searching through her eyes.
She sighed, and he suddenly grabbed her hand, taking her out of the corridor.
“Where are we going?”
He didn’t reply till they got to a washroom, and he faced her.
“You shouldn’t be overly worried, he’s an adult and he knows what he wants” he said.
“You won’t understand,, Mell is the emotional type who goes extreme when something heartbreaking happens, do you know what he did when we lost our parents in a car accident one day? He almost committed sui¢ide and…
“You lost your parents in a day? In a car accident too?” Oliver cut in with wide shocked eyes.
“Yes, sadly” she replied gloomily, and he slowly took her hand.
“I’m so sorry, Cypress” he said.
“What’s with that pitiful look? I’m fine” she smiled.
“Come” he pulled her into a hug.
“You don’t have to” she said.
“But I want to” he replied, and she smiled before hugging him back, shutting her eyes.
Linda was watching from the door, glaring angrily.

LIQUOR ALCHEMY~12PM
After serving the last customer on seat, granny Suzy took her seat and inhaled.
“Is my treasure ok? He didn’t eat breakfast. Is he mad at me?” She mumbled.
“Suzy!” Her friend entered the bar, and she looked up to see the grey haired woman who’s same age as her.
“Fiona” she smiled as she settled beside her.
“I was so busy I couldn’t come since yesterday. So are you becoming the mother-in-law of the richest lady in this country? She’s beautiful too” Fiona said.
“Stop it, you know I don’t like her. How would I want a Playgirl for my treasure?” Suzy replied.
“Playgirls change too, didn’t you see the way she looked at him in the pictures? She’s in love! It’s so obvious!” Fiona retorted.
“Still…I don’t want her, I’ve sworn never to have anything to do with her” Suzy replied bluntly.
“But your treasure wants her, it’s obvious with the way he looked at her in the pictures too” Fiona replied, and Suzy stood as another customer came in.
“Need to go serve” she said and left.
“She’s too stubborn” Fiona smiled.
