CHAPTER 37

“Baby, I am coming okay? I don’t see any reason why you don’t want to come home first before we talk.” Kim said on phone walking out of the mansion and shutting the door.

She was the only one at home at the moment, Peter left to meet his date. He met with a beautiful single mother online and thought of meeting her. She seemed great on phone, and Kim hoped she was as great in person.

“Baby, trust me okay? Come home would make me so tired and lazy to step out again. You can take the car and drive down to the Company.” He said and she smiled nodding.

“Alright, see you soon.” She said and hung up the phone. She knew Landon had probably planned another surprise. “Or why would he ask me to start coming to the company at 11 am when he left some few hours ago.”

She got into the car and sat placing her bag on the other front seat. She checked out her makeup in the mirror and felt contented with what she wore.

She knew Landon wanted to make her birthday a memorable one this time around. “It was surprising that he never mentioned it up till now. Gosh, he is so secretive.” She thought with a smile on her face as she ignited the engine and drove out of the compound.

She hit the road and turned on her music player to listen to some random songs to keep her alive as she drove. She hasn’t driven a car in months, so she felt happy Landon felt she was already okay to do so.

Soon, the phone in the car began to ring. Landon called her on face time. She clicked on it and looked at the screen briefly with a smile on her face.

“Would you let me concentrate as I drive?” She asked chuckling.

“I needed to be sure you were coming, and that is why I called the car line. You look so beautiful, baby.” He said and she flushed.

“Yeah?” She asked and he nodded.

“Yeah.” He said and she nodded.

“Landon I am so anxious to know what is going on.” She said and he smiled meekly.

“You have less than fifteen minutes to get here, you are more patient than you can think.” He said and she sighed smiling.

“Fine.” She said rolling her eyes, and she took a glance at the camera again.

“I got to go now, I need to concentrate on my driving okay? Can’t let the car have a scratch.” She said and he laughed nodding.

“Alright. See you soon. I love you.” He said and hung up the call. Kim laughed softly, pulling back her attention to where it was supposed to be. The road.

Still driving, she got to the front of the traffic light and pressed the breaks when she saw the light turn red. Her car was the first in front of the Zebra crossing.

She breathed out nervously and tapped the steering with her thumb. She couldn’t wait for the sign to change. After few minutes, she bent her head, and alas! The sign changed to yellow and then green.

And immediately, she drove past the zebra crossing. She had few minutes left to get to the company. Approximately 10 minutes.

As she drew closer to where she was going to have a turn, she sighted a jeep behind her from the mirror. At first, she ignored and drove into the turn.

And when she saw the jeep follow closely she started to suspect that something was going on. She tried to calm herself down and erase the negative thoughts from her head.

“What if they are just going the same way as mine?” She asked herself moving to the right, and she saw the jeep move too.

“Okay, this is weird.” She thought. She was too scared to reach for her phone to call Landon because she was shivering. She got closer and closer to the burst out to the main road and she accelerated.

She needed to get out because she knew get would be bursting close to Landon’s company.

As she was about to burst out, a car from nowhere stopped in front of the street forcing her to press on the breaks. She looked back and wanted to reverse when she saw the Jeep approaching fast.

“Oh no.” She said in a shaky voice. As she was in between the two suspicious-looking cars, she picked up her phone to put a call across Landon.

It began to ring and she saw some masked men drop from the jeep and running to her car with guns.

“No no! Landon, please pick up!” She yelled in tears. They got to her, opened the door saying no words.

“Let me go!” She yelled trying to struggle, but then there were their men holding her. She didn’t have the strength to fight back.

“Let me go!” She yelled in tears as they smacked the phone off her hand and it fell to the ground. And that was when Landon’s picked up.

“Hello?” Kimberly heard Landon’s voice, but she couldn’t reply anymore. She already tied her mouth, and worst of it all hit her head with the bottom of the gun which made her go unconscious immediately.

“Hello?” Landon kept repeating. He walked to the window and peeped out to check if she was in the compound already, but he couldn’t sight the car anywhere. He shrugged his shoulders and hung up.

“Maybe she dialed my number by mistake.” He thought walking out of the office to tell his people that she would be there soon, and they should make sure they made it memorable for her.

“Talk to me,” Alex said at the other end.

“She is at the back of the jeep as we speak.” He responded and Alex displayed a grin on his face as he looked at Racheal.

“Good. I will be there soon, good job guys. And no hurting! Okay?” He asked.

“Roger that.” He responded and hung up.

“So… Are you going to tell me what is going on? Or you are going to keep me in the dark?” Rachel asked with a $eductive smile on her face.

“You know I can’t keep you in the dark baby. But for now, I would have to keep this information from you. Once all is settled, you would be the first to know.” He said happily and Racheal nodded smiling.

“If you say so then. If you are happy, I am happy.” She said reaching for his lips.

I have to reach somewhere very important now. I will get back so soon to deal with you.

He winked at her and walked out of the house. Immediately he was out, Racheal sprang to her feet, picked up her phone, and rushed to the window dialing a number.

She watched Alex walk to his car, and then drive out.

“I need you to trace him now. He is going to pass in front of your house any moment from now. He took the black Benz, I need to know what he is up to this time.” She said and hung up the call.

“Ba$tard.” She mumbled walking into the room.
