CHAPTER SIX

RIELE

I took off his shoes and blew at his toe until he stopped shaking feeling more relaxed around me,

I looked up to his face and smiled before asking;

“Still hurting? “He shook his head staring at me with a puzzled expression on his face.

He pulled his leg from my grasp keeping his bare foot on the floor still looking straight to my eyes.

“I get it! I’m famous not meant to touch you right? “I asked and his gaze on me became unbearable,

“No, that’s not it”

“Then why looking at me like that? ”

“Its just.. No one ever did this for me”

I blushed tucking my short hair to the back of my ear again,

“Really? Thanks then buh… “I bent down to help him carry up his guitar,

He was bending down too to carry up his guitar so we both ended up carrying it up together with our hands closely touching each other and our gaze on each other.

“Buh… You should know how to carry this more firmly so you don’t wound yourself again”

He nodded as I let go off my hands on it,

“Thanks ”

“You’re welcome! Time to play! ”

He nodded and I giggled moving two steps away from him as he sat down again on the chair,

I sighed positioning myself for a dance and half closing my eyes with my two hands raised up flexibly in the air,

And then, he began to play softly on the strings,

At first it was smooth and really good as my legs moved swiftly to his moves until he began to jabber ;

” Ahskdueuuwhsbndkdk… “And he stopped throwing his guitar to the ground with his face buried in his palms,

I sighed going close to him,

“Hey”

He raised up his head when he heard my voice,

“Yes?? ”

“I understand, ”

“I’m sorry, I’m not good with guitar ”

“That’s fine, I’m not good at it too but am perfectly okay with pianos”

“Its obvious am not even good at pianos”

Oh! What’s he good at then? I smirked trying to find something nice to say to him,

“Well, you’re good with something like comforting people ”

He smirked looking at me,

“Comforting people? Whom did I comfort? ”

“Me”I pointed at myself and he gave a hearty laughter which made me laugh too,

“There you go! You laughed so well… You have a good laughing face “I added and he smiled at me,

I just feel so warm with him even though I’m getting to know him,

I smacked my lips sitting down beside him while he turned to look at my face,

“Something is bothering you but… ”

“I don’t want to talk about it”he interrupted me,

“I didn’t say you should talk about it… Let’s dance it off… I mean I can teach you ball dancing ”

“Ball dancing?? “He looked at me with a puzzled expression on his face,

I nodded and he smiled but it didn’t last long as his face squeezed up into a slight frown.

“Why are you so nice to me? I just met you and you’re… ”

“Riele, the famous girl “I finished up his sentence and he nodded not taking his eyes off me.

“Don’t mind my good attitude Carson, I’m just this way….. I like keeping friends cuz it makes me forget about my background and…. ”

My dad’s harsh face flashed through my mind and I sighed shaking my head,

“That’s alright, I will like to try dancing the balls with you”

I brightened up holding his palm into mine unknowingly,

“Really? ”

But he didn’t reply immediately as his eyes travelled to our hands and how I interlocked my fingers with his,

I realized that too and I took my hands off his clearing my throat,

“Uhm… “I played with my hair a bit avoiding his gaze,

“Uhm… Let’s.. I mean let me teach you, get up “I ordered getting up,

He stood up too and I guided him into standing beside me,

“Now look.. Gotta be flexible and then hum a very sonorous or romantic song,

elergy, dirge anyone but it must be really slow and sweet… “I lectured as I raised his two hands up to the air after mine

“…. And then you gotta be flexible and then your legs… ”

On and on, I taught him, from the legs movement to the hands, fingers, head and then the waist,

Your body and then how to take a step forward, backward, left sides, right sides, how to take a shot in the air standing on your toes

And then how to jump elegantly from one toe to another without falling,

He watched on at me clapping and repeating my every deed getting over excited and laughing at the styles he didn’t get right

It was fun! Watching him do rubbish calling it a ball dance was really fun and in the end of the day,

I knew it deep inside me that I’ve got a friend! A friend that I can confide into….

“See you tomorrow “I said as we were done for the day,

“When am I gonna see you? ”

“At your house “I snapped jokingly but I meant it, am gonna give my bodyguards that assignment to locate his resident for me and I’m gonna pick him up to school!

“My house??! ”

“Yes! Or your girlfriend gonna throw me out ”

“I don’t have a girlfriend ”

“Sounds good, see you tomorrow
Bye! “I said snapping my hands and then my bodyguards surrounded me once again,

“Sorry I didn’t tell you I came with them”I apologized giving him a wink as I dissapeared into the car….

RILEY

Three days later,

I sat up from my hospital bed after taking a hot coffee from my mug,

How I have been? Bitter! Sour!

Worst days!! I wish I can die! I want to die!!

The press! The news and my fans comments isn’t helping matters for me at all,

I feel cheated and bad! Like I wanna die!

My legs is better, at least the plasters have been taken off and I’ve been practicing leg walking like a baby again!

How annoying it is!!

My aunt came into the room handing a paper to me;

“What’s this? I asked half reading the contents of the paper,

“We’re discharged today”

“But I can’t leave!! My ankle must be fixed before I leave!! ”

“Its healing!! The doctor can’t do anything apart from all these expensive treatments they’ve done for you! ”

“Really! I mean I don’t know if you’re my aunt or just… ”

“Riley am not ready for your nasty attitude this afternoon”

“Nasty? Can’t you see that I can’t dance? !! Can’t you see that am broken??

Do you care about your fuvking self and your family alone forgetting about me?? ”

“Riley, I’ve been here with you for almost five days now without complaining… ”

“You ought to stay with me cuz you’re the only relative I have!! ”

Silence reigned in the room,

Why am I so angry with her? She’s done enough or haven’t she??

“I’m sorry Riley but we are leaving, I’ve got things ready and we’re leaving in the night to avoid crowds since you don’t have bodyguards again”

I nodded without words,

“And you have to drop out of that competition, your ankles needs healing”

“I won’t”I refused,

“You have to”

“I won’t! I am the winner!! I’m always and no one can beat me to it even with my damaged ankles! ”

She spoke no further neither was I ready to argue with her all day long,

My mind is made up and I must dance even if its gonna be the last thing am gonna do, I must do it!

Night,

We arrived into my own home and she left thirty minutes after and promised to call later tommorow morning.

I told her I could be on my own and that’s the reason she left,

I really needed to be on my own, I sighed walking wobbly around my living room and staring at the empty house over and over again.

I’m alone now, never knew that those maids and guards around me made my house so bubbly and never boring to stay into.

But now I know, I sighed again standing at a dancing motion, I closed my eyes and then clamped my two palms together and then moved it about flexibly over stretching my body in a bending motion.

And then I stood up straight again and tried standing on my toes, at first it was simple but not less than three seconds I began to get tired and painful standing on them.

So I let go falling to the ground, I breathed heavily standing up again to repeat same thing,

I kept up with the pain when I stood strecting my legs from side to side and landing on my toes until I couldn’t do it anymore and I fell flat on my face again.

I panted, why am I so tired? I haven’t done anything yet!

Is this how bad I will play when I go there?

Oh no!

It can’t be!!

DAMIEN

I washed my body listening to the early morning radio and my parents jokes and laughs in the other end of the room,

I heard my little sister’s voice and then a doorbell jingling,

I let the water run through my hair one last time before I stopped the shower from running.

I grabbed the towel and soon, I was in my room, the room I used to share with my younger brother.

I went to my closet and picked out clothes, my best tho since this was my first day working for a huge company.

Biggest happiness which had come into my family!

Not gonna talk about myself cuz immediately I dressed up, I left for the living room so I could have my breakfast and leave for work!

“Here comes my boy! “They all exclaimed together when they saw me,

“Hi everyone”I pecked my little sister who sat close to me ,

“You’re a man now! “My dad said and we all laughed and then the food was blessed,

We began to eat peacefully with no noise as mom occasionally deboned fish for me, cut it into halves and then fix them into my spoon smiling,

“Mom”

“Eat up son, get healthly”she would say and I will smile at her nodding my head until our door bell jingled,

“Come in! ”

The door opened and then a bodyguard stepped in followed by the most beautiful girl I’ve never seen in the world….
