RILEY

He helped me through out my trying times and he’s still helping me.

He might be a blockhead but he’s the best thing that I’ve ever had after my aunty’s death.

He’s everything that I needed, both physical and emotional.

He stands by me and gives me all the support I needed even though am an annoying brat who doesn’t need anyone’s help.

He’s so cute too.

He’s tall and he’s nice and kind.

He’s perfect and I can see the reason why Riele likes him so much.

I gulped as our eyes stared into each other.

Does he like me?

What if he doesn’t?

Then am the fool around here isn’t it?

I can’t say it.

“Answer me”she pressed further but I was mute.

I couldn’t speak.

Say yes and what happens?

Say no and make him feel so unwanted by me?

My heart raced faster and adding to my nervousness.

Phones were raised up to our faces and everywhere was as calm as ever.

I couldn’t even speak up.

Say what?

*Yes, I like Carson*.. Like the heck!

I stepped back a bit and then ran away.

Why am I running?

Why am I even running harder?

Cuz I have to run away from everyone and every face speaking to me.

I have to run so far away from everyone and anyone.

I didn’t stop until I was out of school then I stopped panting for breath.

“Why are you running so hard? “I heard Daniel’s voice.

I scoffed.

“Can you just go away? “I grinned.

“Not after running all these distance following you”he snapped panting.

“I didn’t ask you to follow me so please go away”

“At last let’s have a cup of coffee down there”he pointed still getting into my throat.

“Can’t you leave me alone!

I don’t want you!

I don’t like you… “He grabbed my hand,

“Let’s go have some coffee down there to make up for all the calls I gave you yesternight and this morning but you weren’t picking up”

“I’m not your girlfriend whom you call the way you want! ”

“I never said you were crush, “he beamed at me and I felt more disgusting.

“Just leave me alone “I struggled to get my hand off him but it wasn’t working.

He seemed stronger than I can be.

“I can’t. okay?

Everything I ask you to do or when I do something for you,

I always deserve a payback”

“And that’s having a cup of coffee with me? ”

“Exactly! pretty”

I sighed.

Today is such a bad for me.

I shook my head repeatedly and then looked at him once more.

“Just a coffee and you will let my hand go? ”

“Yes, I will but for now”he replied

“Let’s go”I said…

CARSON

Running after her seemed like I was a bit late cuz when I reached the gate,

I saw her walking hand in hand with that so-called Daniel.

My heart broke.

I gasped for breath immediately looking at their backs.

I almost fell but I held myself.

Is this why she couldn’t say that she liked me?

No, she doesn’t like me but is that what had been so hard for her to say?

I became angry.

She’s so ingrateful and so unfeeling!

Why him?

I made to follow them but someone back hugged me.

“You’re mine Carson,

Forget about her,

She won’t and can’t even admit that she likes you”…. it was Riele speaking placing her head on my back.

“She can’t even say it to you and to me”

I stood rooted at the spot ,

I was looking into an empty space infront of me.

“Carson,

I love you and I always do,

She’s going to give you nothing but pain!

She’s so ungrateful and will never value you till the rest of your life! ”

I turned over getting her hands off me,

“Look Riele,

Everything is wrong with dating you okay?

First,

You’re my brother’s would be bride.

Second,

You’re almost a married woman.

Third,

I won’t fight for something that I know so much that I won’t ever have,

Fourth,

Your family set me up and almost sued me to court because of you and more will happen if I try… ”

“We can fight! ”

“Fight? Fight for what?

Riele, I don’t like you not to talk of loving you”

She stepped back a bit looking into my face.

“I want to ask you a question and I need an answer now! ”

“Go on”I urged.

“Do you like Riley? “She asked and I was mute for some seconds thinking.

Her hair…. Her laughs… Her smiles… Her voice…. Her lashes…. Her eyes… Her nose… Her lips… Her face….How she acts and behaves around me.

Everything about her is just perfect and the highest fact is that, she’s a crazy dancer even before she lost her legs.

She’s so perfect everywhere and gaht no flaw.

Okay, she’s got some rude attitude but am used to it.

So I don’t think I only like her but also loves her a whole lot.

“Answer me”she added tugging at my clothe and I nodded my head rather slowly.

“I don’t like her but love her”

Her face frowned and creased up into anger.

“But you met me before her!

She can’t dance! I can!

She can’t even move her ankles and always lost out!

She’s nothing but a cabbage with a *fancy* attached to her ballerina!!! “She yelled bitterly but I didn’t care.

“There’s something she told me which I never believed and do you know what it is? ”

She kept looking at me with tears in her eyes and face,

“I don’t care to know what you believe or not Carson… I can cancel my marriage cuz of you,

Don’t leave me please,

I love you so much to part with you”she sobbed.

“Riele,

You asked me a question and I answered you remember? “I reminded so she will stop acting out.

“Fine! “She cleaned her tears,

“She doesn’t like you does she? “She beamed and I shrugged.

She doesn’t even see me not to talk of liking me.

I’m too low for her,

“That’s the more reason we should be together cuz she clearly doesn’t deserve us “she pressed further looking into my eyes but I looked away.

“Carson… ”

“What is it Riele? ”

She’s being a pain in the neck all the time!

“Kss me, ”

“What! what’s wrong with you? ”

“She’s coming and I want you to kss me? ”

“Who’s coming? “I asked confused.

Kss her?

Why?

I don’t want to get into trouble more than the one I have.

If I should have problems now,

It should be because of Riley and not Riele.

“Riley… ”

I turned to see her coming back with Daniel again.

This time,

They weren’t holding hands and probably gave each other some distance.

She was looking at me sternly but I looked away.

“Kss me even if you don’t love me please”she pleaded and I sighed.

“Just once and don’t ever ask me to do it again”

she nodded and I found my lips in hers,

?Look!

?Carson kssed his brother’s fiancee!

?Oh my!

?Where’s my phone?

?Riele don’t have shame at all!

I removed my lips from hers and gulped.

She smiled,

“Thank Carson “she said and then walked away waving and winking .

Riley was standing few paces away from me.

“Wow! That was great! “Daniel began to clap.

“You did so great!

Look at cameras everywhere taking your pictures,

Wanna be a celebrity by all means…. “He turned to Riley smirking,

“Someone like him shouldn’t be around you at all sweetie,

Gonna call you later,

Better answer my calls”he winked and then left.

We both stood looking at each other without saying a word.

What would I say?

That I kssed her all because she asked me to do so.

Or say,

*Where did you go to with him?*

* Why did you have to go with him? *

*Why didn’t you say that you like me?*

“Uhm… That was great! “She muttered trying so hard to smile at me.

“Uh… Was it? I.. She. A.. Are… “I stammered and she smirked.
