Chapter 4

Arabella woke up to a bright new day. Today is another day. Another day to begin getting close to her daughter. She thought as she got out of bed to use the bathroom.

She had been assigned to the staff quaters and although the room given to her is a room she isn’t used to. She will bear with it and that’s because her daughter is far more important to her.

Dressed and ready for the day. She went to the kitchen where she saw three maid preparing the food.

“Good morning everyone. Am Bella Blake. The new Nanny”She greeted them.

The two responded as if they were being forced while the older lady who seemed to be the boss in the kitchen replied cheerfully.

Liking the woman due to her positive attitude. She went to her.

“You seem cheerful for your first day” Mrs Milly said

“I should be since have been given this job. I have to be cheerful”She said happily.

“I hope that last”Mrs Milly replied.

“Why do you say so?”She asked feeling curious.

“That’s because the young miss isn’t someone you can handle. I will advise you to quit as fast as you can”one of the two girls in the room said.

“Why? Is the young miss that dangerous?”Arabella asked.

“More than dangerous. She sent all her previous nanny away and that’s because she doesn’t want anyone of them here”The second lady replied.

“How can a little girl be successful in getting rid of her previous nanny. That’s impossible”Arabella said.

“One of them was sent away due to the bees she had put in the room and it turns out that she was Allergic to it . The poor thing had to spend a whole week in the hospital” the first lady told her.

“And what about the one of the ants. The young miss had put a lot of ants on the nanny bed. Unknown to the poor thing. She had gotten into the bed only to be bitten by it.

Two weeks of being hospitalised. If it hadn’t been for Mr Gerald influence and wealth. She would be suing him”The second girl told her .

“Sounds a bit scary”Arabella muttered wondering how her daughter got to know all of those tricks.

“She’s just being protective” Mrs Milly stated.

“Being an orphan at a tender age can tend to make one feel lonely.

When Mr Gerald took over her guardianship. He gave her his time but when he began hiring nanny. His time was taken from her”

“A child who lost her parent would certainly want to feel love from her relative but Mr Gerald being him doesn’t even give her that time and that’s why she resorts to getting rid of the nanny and most importantly.

The nanny that were hired in the past were only after Mr Gerald attention.

They weren’t really interested in her. That’s why she resulted to doing such thing”Mrs Milly explained.

“If that’s her real reason. She has nothing to worry about from me. I certainly am not interested in Mr Gerald just as am sure that he wouldn’t be interested in me”Arabella said.

“I really hope you keep that in mind” Gerald said by the door way and they all turned to look at him.

“Good morning”He greeted as he walked into the room to seat on a particular table so he could read while he have his morning coffee.

“Do you intend to eat here?”Arabella find herself asking.

“This is where I eat . Why do you ask?”He said not even giving her a glance.

“Nothing sir”She replied seeing that it’s the first time that she would see a boss eating in the kitchen instead of the breakfast table.

“Shouldn’t you be with Fiona?”He asked now starring at her.

” Am just going to……”

“The girl is your first priority. If you have anything to say or do. That should be done later. I expect you to know that”He said annoying her.

“Yes sir. I will go to her now”She replied as she turned to leave but then she stopped to give him a reply.

“I know what my job entail sir and i won’t be wasting my time trying to get your attention like the other nanny did. Just know that to me. You will only be my boss and nothing else.

I just said that to put your mind at peace” She said making it known to him that she won’t be distracted from her work or to make a mistake.

Gerald sat watching her leave and also the the three maids, who kept wondering where she got the guts to talk back to the boss.

“What a je.rk” Arabella muttered as she went insearch of Fiona’s room.

The thought of seeing Fiona again clearly wiped off her anger..

She was still heading there when she saw a snake on the floor..

She yelled and trying to escape from it she fell down. H!tting her elbow on the wall.

She was still screaming when Fiona run towards her to carry the snake in her hand

“Are you okay Lucy. She didn’t scare you right?”Fiona asked as she stared at the snake.

“Why are you holding it? Don’t you know that’s it dangerous?” Arabella asked.

“It isn’t dangerous and this is my pet Lucy”Fiona said introducing the snake to her.

“A pet? But there is poison in it and it…..”

“Am not that stupid to carry a posionous snake around. Lucy poison have been removed and it’s been with me for a long time”Fiona said.

“Really?”She asked as she stood up while clutching her injured elbow.

“Yes and you don’t have to know about that. Why are you even here? I thought you left yesterday”Fiona said.

“Well my persistence got me here and let me tell you that I won’t let you succeed in getting me out of this house. Am here to stay and I will be staying” Arabella declared.

“We will see about that? People like you are only after my uncle and his money. You have no time for me and that’s why I will ruin your plan of wanting to get close to him.

I will make sure you leave before you can achieve anything”Fiona said as she ran back to her room while Arabella stared at her.

She’s just as hot temper like me. Arabella thought as she head towards the room. She was still knocking on Fiona’s closed door when Gerald walked up the stairs.

“Having a difficult time with my niece?” He asked surprising Arabella by his sudden interest in what she do.

“A little” she confessed.

“Then I suggest you do your best in getting close to her. You are the fifth nanny am hiring.

I hope you won’t be giving problem like the others?” He asked and she turned towards him holding her injured elbow.

“I will do my best and just like I promised you downstairs. You won’t be having a problem with me” Arabella replied.

“That’s better and so you wouldn’t sue me for money or anything.

I think you should put something on that before it gets worse” he said as he walked off while answering a call.

“He is so annoying!”She muttered loudly as she continued knocking when her phone began to ring. Distracting her.

She checked the caller and when she saw that it was Nina. She picked wanting to tell her off but stopped when she heard the info Nina had to tell her.

“Am in the middle of something, can you. ….”

“This is also important”Nina said cutting her off.

“What’s wrong?” Arabella asked.

“I think you should come see me yourself” Nina stated.

“I will have to change my looks and besides that I will have to…..”
