THIRD PERSON’S pov.

Baldwin’s Mansion

“Please take care of her for me” Mr Baldwin said as he tucked his wife in bed.

He had just finished helping her take a warm bathe, and helped her change into comfy nightwear.

“Aren’t you gonna stay and watch over her?” Fatima asked.

Mr Baldwin shook his head.

“No, I can’t stay because I must see Marvin before 7am tomorrow” he replied. “Staying the night would spoil the surprise I have for her tomorrow”

“Another surprise?” he nodded, but Fatima scoffed. “Mind I remind you that your surprise tonight didn’t please her at all?”

He smiled.

“I’m sure she’d love my surprise this time, I’ve made up my mind and I’m finally moving back tomorrow”

Fatima’s eyes widened in surprise.

“Really?!” she screamed, but quickly slammed her hand over her mouth when Rachel groaned sleepily.

“Yes, it’s time I start being her husband again”

Fatima broke into a wide, satisfied smile, she jumped happily and clapped her hands quietly.

He pulled the duvet up to her chest, leaned down and planted a lingering kss on her forehead.

“Don’t let her know I brought her back” he caressed her cheeks.

Fatima nodded, he kssed her once more, but on her cheek this time and rushed off.

RACHEL’S pov.

The Next Morning

“Ow!” I grunted as I sat up and leaned back on the headboard.

My vision blurred as I had just woke up, I pushed my hair off my face and started massaging my temples, to numb the severe headache I’m suffering from right now.

“My head’s klling me” I grumbled, and heard a scoff which made me jumped in fright.

I turned and saw Fatima standing by the door, with her body leaning on the frame and her arms folded on her chest as she glared at me.

“You’re finally awake” she said.

Finally awake? Does that mean I slept past noon already? What about my cafe?!

My eyes alarmingly shifted to my alarm clock sitting on the bedside table, but I heaved a sigh of great relief when I saw it’s just 6:31am. I patted my chest and help myself adjust my breath.

Then I saw a glass of water and a sachet of aspirin on the bedside table, I mentally thanked God before reaching for them and hurriedly gulped down the aspirin.

“We were both wasted last night, right?” I asked Fatima.

I can’t seem to recall what happened last night, I only recall going to the karaoke and that’s all, I don’t have even the slightest memory of what happened after I was drunk.

“We weren’t both wasted, it was just you, darling” she corrected me.

“Oh”

“Yeah” she lifted herself off the frame and walked towards me.

“Then.. how did I get back?” I asked again.

“Of course, I had to carry your overweighted body all the way back!” she answered.

I looked down at myself and started poking my cheek when she said I’m overweight, I pouted my lips but quickly broke into a wide, goofy grin.

“That’s why we’re best friends” I said and grabbed her right arm when she’s closer, then pulled her for a hug.

“Yeah, yeah” I replied, patting my back and I know she’s rolling her eyes while doing that.

I kssed her cheek and pulled away from the hug.

“You know I love you, right?”

“And I love you more, baby” she replied.

I laughed.

“Come on, freshen up and come down for breakfast” she told me. “Or we’re gonna be late for work” she added, referring to my cafe.

“Yes, ma’am” I replied and jumped off my bed and dashed into the bathroom, leaving Fatima to help me rearrange my bed.

Breakfast was brief, because Fatima wouldn’t stop teasing me about last night. Now we’re both ready to go to the cafe.

“Bye, Mrs Jackson” we both waved Mrs Jackson and headed for the door.

We froze immediately we opened the door and saw Mike, he’s about ringing the doorbell. He smiled.

“Good morning, beautiful ladies” he greeted us.

“Good morning” Fatima answered grumpily and stormed towards the gate, leaving Mike feeling confused at her attitude.

“Uh.. I guess she’s never gonna like me” he said.

I laughed, but shook my head in disagreement, people like them who hate each other always have some kind of connection between them.

“She might” I replied, then stepped out and we headed towards the gate too. “So, how was your pre-wedding photoshoot?” I asked with a bright smile.

He cleared his throat and pushed his hair back, making him a little bit feminine.

“There wasn’t any photoshoot”

“There wasn’t? Why? Your fiancee rescheduled?”

“No, she…” he paused and I raised my brows. “We broke up”

My legs stayed rooted in their spot immediately he said that, I blinked a few times as I tried to process his words.

“You broke up?” he nodded. “Why?”

“It’s a long story” he said.

“I have all the time in the world, but can’t you make it short?”

He stared at me for a moment, as though he’s contemplating, then he shook his head.

“I don’t wanna talk about it” he said quietly.

I wanted to force it out of him, but I decided against, he’s gonna tell me when he’s ready. I sighed.

“It’s fine, you guys might make up soon” I consoled him.

He simply smiled and shrugged.

“I know you’re dropping us off, but can we hurry up?” Fatima shouted from Mike’s car. “Time is money” she added.

I rolled my eyes, she’s depending on his service or should I call it help, yet she’s being rude and unappreciative -typical Fatima.
