HONEY SALT’S KITCHEN*
Asha combed Tara’s hair and packed it in a bun. She was getting her ready for school, they were actually in the restaurant Asha was working.
Last night she had called her boss and he offered her to stay in his house but she politely declined because he’s married. In stead she told him, that she would love to stay in one of the workers room in the restaurant and hopefully he agreed.
She was grateful to him for that, because she had nowhere to go to and he came to her aid. He was too good for a boss.
” Mommy are you ok now?” Tara asked as Asha tied her shoe laces.
Asha looked at her with a puzzled expression.
” What do you mean darling?” She asked and Tara face palmed herself.
She behaves like an adult a lot and Asha sometimes thinks she’s more than four years old, even though she was the person who gave birth to her.
” You were crying last night mommy, how are you feeling now?” She stated clearly this time and Asha smiled.
” Am fine now darling, all thanks to you.” She said and flicked her nose, earning a chuckle from her.
” Mommy where is daddy?” She asked and Asha went dumbstruck. She bit her lower lips so hard as she arranged her uniform properly. By this time she was done tying her shoe laces.
” Daddy is on a vacation.” She blurted out after few minutes of silence.
” What is a VO-CA-TI-ON.” Tara asked as she emphasized on the words. And that was when Asha realized what she said.
Thinking about Tara’s dad always gives her a severe headache and she didn’t want that, not now.
” Vocation is another name for holiday, you know the holidays you take after a term in school right? Daddy is also on vacation and he’s working hard, making lots of money for us.” She explained and Tara smiled widely.
” So, mommy if daddy comes now, he will by lots of rainbow candy for me right? Then I can’t wait to see daddy.” She said and Asha smiled at her. One could tell it was a fake smile, if only Tara knows that she doesn’t have a dad.
” Alright let’s go!” Asha said and the walked out.

******
Asha kept taking orders and serving all at once. Today was also filled, as customers occupied the whole tables and chairs.
They had to tell other customers to book for before coming. Their restaurant was growing rapidly and it was taking place among the best in the whole of las Vegas.
Asha came out of the kitchen holding a tray of french fries, alongside with two burgers and a glass of an orange juice. A customer had ordered that and she needed to deliver it quickly.
She was about taking a step forward when her phone made a ” BING” sound. It only makes a bing sound when the message is about good news, well that’s her belief.
She placed the tray of junk foods on the counter as she decided to check the message.
She brought out her phone and viewed the message, a gasp escaped her mouth. It was indeed a good news and she was extremely happy. She jumped in excitement and twirled around earning stares from the customers.
The customers smiled watching her, seeing a young worker smiling widely and jumping in excitement means something good has happened and they were happy for her.

GOLDEN HIGH SCHOOL*
Asha arrived at the school putting on the school uniform, she payed the driver off and walked into the school’s large compound.
Yesterday she received a message in her Gmail, that she passed the scholarship exam and could start school right away.
When she was Nineteen, she wrote a scholarship for the entrance of this school and after a year, she got nothing but worked hard for the school uniform, it really costs a fortune but she believed that she will make it.
She’s not here because she wants to go to school but because she really wants to earn a certificate in this school. That certificate alone will make her quite her restaurant job and would be accepted in any company.
The school was the top one school in the whole of las Vegas and offers the best education. It was a school of wealthy kids and Asha was fortunate to get in.
They also offers a scholarship exam to study abroad at the end of the three semester. She believes she could do this and she will make it. After all it all takes diligence and hard works.
” Finally am here, we can do this!” She said with a smile before walking towards the huge school in front of her.
Students were coming in, most of them came by cars… different models and Asha was bewildered.
She entered inside the school, standing at the hallway and was welcomed by stares and from the students.
? Who’s she, haven’t seen her before.
? It seems she’s a newbie.
? Gosh, she’s pretty…I love her hair.
Prudent who was taking books from her locker heard those comments and she was curious to know who the person was, she turned back and and was surprised staring at the lost Asha.
She couldn’t believe her eyes as she started taking long strides towards Asha. Her heels making sounds and her uniform skirt swayed at both sides.
Asha stared at prudent in surprise and she was about saying something, when Prudent dragged her out by the wrist.
She dragged her inside a washroom immediately and locked the door.
” What are you doing here?” Prudent asked.
Asha stared at prudent as tears welled up in her eyes. Her little sister has grown so much and was looking very pretty.
” You’ve grown up onto a pretty young lady, I only get to see you on internet…but seeing you in person now has made me very happy. Thank you for taking good care of yourself.” Asha said as she held Prudent’s hand caressing it softly.
” Quit saying trash and stop acting like the big sis you’ve never been!” Prudent half yelled.
” You also remembered me, I thought you wouldn’t, it’s been four years.” Asha said and Prudent scoffed loudly.
” Of cause I remember you, who wouldn’t remember someone that abandoned her little sister, without the feeling of any remorse?!” Prudent half yelled and continued.
” In fact, what are you doing here? And why are you on uniform? Is this some sort of a joke or what? You want to became an high school mom?” She asked with with a crumpled face.
” Prudy listen to…”
” Quit the nickname Asha, you shouldn’t be here, this isn’t a place for you…you are a mom and you are supposed to stay at home taking care of that being you call a child!” She said cutting her off.
” Don’t talk to me in such manners Prudent, am your elder sister!” She retorted causing prudent to chuckle.
” Did you just say younger sister? Well, in case you have forgotten, I was your younger sister, the sister bond broke when you refused to terminate that bastard you call a child!” She said sternly.
” Prudent please listen to…”
” You will need to take a transfer or else my mom will have to transfer me to another school.” She said cutting Asha off again.
” No, I won’t take transfer, I wrote a scholarship because I needed it!” Asha said in a teary voice.
” Fine, do whatever you want but stay away from me, we don’t know each other, you are just a newbie and nothing to me. I don’t need to bad energy to ruin my family’s reputation!” She said and walked out of the bathroom leaving Asha all alone.
Asha sat on the floor as she broke into tears. She hated her life so much and wished the ground would swallow her immediately.
” Why me?” She muttered as she cried bitterly.
