M.I.A. (Merciless in action)

(Unknown POV)

” Taking fire, I repeat taking fire……. This is brainstorm 5205……..We request for back up urgently….Over” The next in command shouted as we hide behind the wall.
There are only a handful of us soldiers left, our warrant officer has been killed so the next in command took place which is our staff sergeant.
The terr©rist also never cease to stop firing at us and we also fire back at them then we see another set came out of hiding.
” Mayday, mayday, Alpha 1 do you copy?……..we are outnumbered……We are in enemies territory, We need back up I repeat we request for immediate back up, Over” the staff sergeant said through the radio but we got no response.
We keep firing at them and they keep shooting back at us.
” what are our orders, staff sergeant?” I asked then he think for a while looking the remaining soldiers.
” we need to retreat” the staff sergeant said.
As I look up to count how many are left of the terrorist only for me to see one of them holding a RPG (Rocket-propelled-Grenade) and pointed it at our direction.
” RPG, RPG….. Take cover” I shouted then we all ran away from our hideout then the rocket hit the wall ‘GGGBoaaaaaaarrrrrr”.
Fortunately none of us were hurt then we ran away from their territory and look for a safer place while they keep coming at us.
” we need to retreat” the staff sergeant said again.
” No we can’t, staff sergeant…..what about the hostages?” I asked.
” we need to abort the mission……we will come for them later” he said.
” we’ve come this far……it took us four(4) months to get to this people…..we can’t abort at this stage” I said.
” listen corporal, we are outnumbered…..there’s nothing more we can do” he said.
” we’ve killed lots of them, it’s only remaining few of them, we can’t just go back now” I said.
” I can see the fire in your eyes corporal, they’ve killed our men and you wanted them to die as well…….i feel you but they got ammunition we don’t, We are running low on ammunition…..we will all be killed if we stay any longer” the staff sergeant said.
” send me sir…..let me go ” I said boldly.
” Whaaat, what are you talking about?” Staff sergeant asked.
” Give me a chance, let me go save them” I said.
” don’t you hear any word I’m saying corporal, There’s nothing we can do…..no ammo” he said.
” Sir……I understand the situation and I’m ready to go, sir” I said.
” you’re going to die, Soldier…….you are still young” the staff sergeant said.
” I will be glad to die fighting for my country, I’m here to serve my country, staff sergeant” I said.
” how many rounds do you have left?” he asked.
” I’m out” I replied.
” here, take my sidearm and soldier……give them a tough one before you go down” he said giving me a pistol.
” Roger that” I replied then I saluted him.
I made my way back into their territory and I can see some of them still searching for us.
I crouched down and walk slowly with making sure I’m not detected, I entered through the back.
I can see them trying to vacate the premises, they are loading up some things into the truck.
There are not many of them left, I approximate them all to be about 30-40 of them left.
I saw the hostages tied down in a place and some men with them.
I keep walking then I see one of them with his back at me, I bring out my knife and move stealthily behind him then slit his throat and with one hand covering his mouth.
I dropped him, took his gun and grenade and move forward, I got to another side then did the same to about three more men taking only their grenade.
I was going about getting closer to the hostages then one of them saw me then shoot at my position.
I quickly hide behind a wall, he signalled to the others and I can hear them running towards my position.
I tried to peep at them then they started shooting at my position non stop, their weapons are way too heavy.
I hid behind the wall then they throw something which landed by my side, Immediately I saw it’s a bomb I quickly pick it up and throw back at them.
” Bbbboaaaa” I heard.
This give me the chance to shoot back at them, and killing about three of them, then I saw another four of them throw grenade at me but I have no choice but to jumped away from where I am.
After the b©mb exploded then continue firing at me, I took out two grenade then unclasp it then throw it at their direction.
After the b©mb exploded I ran away from there then started firing at them.
I saw some of them running towards my direction then I throw a grenade at them which kill some of them.
.
They are too many for me alone infact I would’ve been dead if not that the staff sergeant came back with the rest to help me out.
To cut the long story short, All the terr©rist were killed including their leader and the hostages were saved but two among them are already dead.
All of that happened one month ago, A very dangerous group of terr©rist kidnapped some outsiders.
We were given a mission to rescue them safely but our mission was compromised which led to killing of our men including our leader the warrant officer.
For my bravery act, I was given a medal and got promoted to the rank of staff sergeant.
Now I’m in a plane going back home after my service in the north and only few minutes left for us to touch the ground.

My name is Desmond da Silva, I’m 24years old, and I’m in the army, it’s my fifth year.
My father sent me to army school since I was little which give me a easy access to gain entry into the army.
Army school isn’t that bad as I first thought infact I don’t think there’s nothing wrong in Navy school.
When I was in school I have this one friend Steven, we are best friends till now.
Steven is a computer guru, I mean anything about a computer he’s your guy.
He also teach me alot of things, much more like all he knows about it but not all.
Though it took me a while cause of school and all that, he’s also in the army but he’s the tech guy not like a field soldier like me.
He do alot of things for us in the army, tracking, modifying, cracking, hacking and so much of anything about technology.
When I learnt about all this I had to beg him to teach me all he knows, and now I also know how to do so much like but he’s still the boss.
I should tell you more about my family, My father Abraham da Silva is the commissioner of police and a highly respected police officer at that, I took after him.
My mom Hannah da Silva is a housewife who love and look after all her kids.
My mom is the best, she took control of the house and make it a great and loving one.
She is a highly respected woman in the society as well.
There are six of us in the family, My older sister Victoria, she’s two years older than me and she’s a medical doctor.
She called me few months ago that she got employed at one of the biggest hospital in the state.
I also have younger sisters, they are lovely, beautiful and so adorable, I love them so much.
They are both girls, twins actually Grace and Mercy, they are 17 and they will be looking forward to writing their waec exam in a few months.
I will be meeting them soon when the plane land, I just can’t wait to meet them all.

(Mr Silva residence)
.
Mr Silva has prepared a welcome back/congratulation party for his son and was getting ready to pick him up at the airport.
” c’mon honey, go now his plane will land in a few minute” Mrs Silva said from the kitchen.
” yeah I’m ready…..I’m about to go now” Mr Silva said as he got down from the stairs.
” Dad wait for me, I’m coming with you” Mercy said coming down from the stairs.
” Alright…..where’s Grace?” Mr Silva asked.
” she’s still dressing” she replied.
” okay then let’s go” he said then they went out.
There are about six police officers guarding him and they wanted to go with him to the airport.
” don’t worry officers, just stay here……..I’m about to meet my son first time in eight months, I can’t have police all around me” he said.
” stay here and help them prepare for my son’s arriver, constable here will drive” he added pointing to one of the officers.
” yes sir” they saluted then Mr Silva entered his car with his daughter.
The constable entered the car and drove off to the airport.

The plane landed and everyone started coming out after they have been checked.
Mr Silva and her daughter has been waiting for Desmond at the lobby then they saw him coming out.
” Big Brother” Mercy shouted and Desmond turn to their direction then Mercy ran to him and embrace him tightly.
” Hey baby……how are you?” Desmond said.
” I’m fine bro….I’m so glad you are back” mercy said.
” me too sweet, wow you are now a big girl” Desmond replied and they smiled then went to his father.
” Good morning dad” he said hugging him.
” welcome back son, how are you?” Mr Silva said.
” I’m doing great” he replied.
” how was your flight? ” Mr Silva asked.
” it was great” Desmond replied.
” Good……let’s go home” Mr Silva said then they went to their car, they entered and Desmond sat at the front while his father and Mercy sat at the back then the constable drove off.
” how’s Mom?” Desmond asked.
” your mother is at home…….can’t wait to meet you” Mr Silva replied.
” how about big Sis, and Grace?” he asked turning to Mercy.
” Grace is fine, Sister Victoria is at the hospital but she said she will be home early” Mercy said.
” I can’t wait to meet them……I’ve really miss you all” Desmond said.
” Bro, dad told us about your promotion…..congratulations” Mercy said.
” thanks baby” Desmond said.
” We are going to celebrate this” Mercy said.
” Of course we will” Desmond said.
” how’s life in the Army, son? ” Mr Silva asked.
” it’s not bad dad, everything depends on determination……all we should think about is the good thing we could do for our country……and to make our country a better one” Desmond said.
” you’re right son……We should always do the right thing and never compromise” Mr Silva said.
” and also remember to fight for justice, when you notice injustice make sure you set it right and never procrastinate remember, the delay of justice is injustice” Mr Silva added.
” yes dad” Desmond replied.
” so when will you be going back?” Mercy asked.
” in two months” Desmond replied.
” that’s too short, you left for eight month and now you’re finally back only to here that you will be going back in two months time” Mercy said pouting.
” don’t worry baby, everything will be alright soon…….and this two months…..we are going to make it a memorable one” Desmond said smiling.
As they keeping talking and smiling they started hearing some noise behind them and tire screeching.
” what’s happening? ” Mr Silva asked and Desmond looked back.
” it’s a car driving rough” Desmond said then the car drove fast and it’s beside them.
Desmond saw them, two men at the back and two at the front then he wind down the glass.
” you better watched the way you drive” Desmond said to the one driving and none of them say anything.
” Bro, who are they?” Mercy asked.
” they are just some men” Desmond replied.
” maybe we should speak some sense into them” Mr Silva said.
” don’t worry, they’ve stopped” Desmond said.
Desmond wind back the glass and when he look sideways he saw them all bringing out a gun and pointed it at their car.
” Get down now” Desmond shouted and they started shooting at their car.
Mercy was screaming as they keeping firing at their car, the glass of the glass got shattered.
The constable tried to drive past them then the a$$assins targeted the car tire then the car somersaulted multiple times.
The a$$assins drove away after they’ve completed their mission, Desmond tried to move but he couldn’t.
He felt pain at the back of his head and he realized that he’s bl.eeding, he turned then see the constable dead, he turned to his father and saw him breathless.
” ddaa…daad…..daaadd” he called weakly but he didn’t move then he turned to his sister and found her unconscious as well.
” Mer….Me…mer….mercy….” he called then he blackout.
