OUR MARRIAGE IS JUST A PIECE OF PAPER : EPISODES 51 – 60
Episode 53
My muscles were all tensed up now. I too felt weak now. I would at least imagine what Ahana must be going through. She was still hiding in me. Her fragrance around me.
” Dad… Is Ma alright?” I asked, my voice all down now. I was feeling too much pain in my heart. I just hope she is fine.
“Actually she is in ICU. Doctors are saying that there are some internal injuries and they have to keep her in observation.
They can’t say when she will be conscious again. I am with Dad now. He is in trauma too.”
I could feel my cheeks getting wet now. Ahana was still in my arms and I was crying too.
After so many years, I felt like this. Vulnerable. Ma and I had really grown close in this time. She had been really sweet and considered me as her son.
“Ansh….” Dad called.
“Yes!” I whispered.
“You have to be strong. For yourself and for Ahana. Please. She needs you now. Can you please come here?”
“Of course we have to. I will ask my secretary to ready our private jet at once. We will reach in a few hours. Please send me the exact location.
I will inform Dad and Grandad. Dad, please don’t worry. I am sure nothing will happen to Ma. She will be perfectly fine.. At least for Ahana..”
“Hmm… See you. Please take care of my girl. She is very emotional. She can’t handle herself.”
“Of course, I will.”

ANSH’S POV
After Dad ended the call, I glanced at her. She was undeniably a sensitive person.
I was well aware of that. I saw her still deeply affected by our conversation.
I wasn’t even sure if she heard us or not.
Fortunately, I was at the office during that time.
My cheeks were still wet from tears. Her eyes were closed now, and her breathing had become calm.
“Ahana… Look at me, please, sweetheart. Have some water,” I said softly.
Her eyes were swollen and red from continuous crying. I assisted her in drinking water.
A little bit spilled from her mouth, and I wiped it away with my sleeves. She looked at me, and our eyes met.
Her brown eyes clearly showed the pain she was experiencing. A pain that I couldn’t heal. I knew there were tears in my eyes too.
Ma meant a lot to Ahana. I knew that. She was everything to her.
“Ansh…” She finally spoke.
“Ma…” I replied, and she grabbed me again, crying.
I hated seeing her like that.
“Ahana… Nothing is going to happen to Ma. She is going to be perfectly alright. We need to go to her now.
She needs you by her side. Come on.” Ahana didn’t move. I knew she was already tired, mentally and physically. She looked sleep-deprived.
I grabbed my cellphone and called Dad. I informed him, and he was shocked as well. He and Grandad were also leaving on their flight.
I called my pilot and asked him to prepare the plane. I called Sara and explained everything. I told her to pack our clothes and send them to the airport quickly.
She was confused, and I informed her that Dad called with this shocking news.
“Jen…”
“Yes, sir?”
“Ask someone to clean up this place. I want it to be as it was earlier. Due to an emergency, Ahana and I are leaving now.
Ask the driver to bring the car. We are going to the airport. Reschedule my meetings. Take care of Ahana’s schedule too. Call me after 24 hours for any updates. Until then, don’t disturb. I hope you understand.”
“Yes, sir… Should I help?” She asked when she saw me picking up Ahana.
“No… Do what you have been asked to do.” I was being firm, but I was strong enough to handle my wife alone.
I lifted her up, and she wrapped her arms around my neck.
Surprisingly, she didn’t resist. She seemed exhausted. I carried her to our car. Everyone in the office looked at us in surprise.
They had never seen us in this state before. I was her husband, and I had every right to hold her, now officially.
The black Lamborghini was waiting outside. We both got into the back seat. Ahana was still holding onto me. We quickly drove off. Ahana’s cheeks were still wet.
“Ansh…” She spoke for the first time in a while.
“Hmmm…” I hummed, gently rubbing her back.
“If anything happens to Ma… I won’t be able to go on. She means everything to me. Please don’t let anything happen to her…” More tears streamed down her face.
I pulled her closer.
“Ahana… Look at me.” I wiped her tears, not realizing that mine were flowing too. She reached out to wipe mine.
“This isn’t the Ahana I married. She was strong and a fighter.
I promise, okay! Nothing will happen to Ma… You have to take care of yourself.

Ahana, you have to be strong for yourself, Ma, and me. Remember, Grandpa is also going through a lot of things. He needs you. Okay!
Sweetie… ” I kssed her forehead.
She nodded and hugged me tightly. It was the best moment of my life. I felt so full and complete.
At least at this point in time, she trusted me, and that was more than enough for me.
Even during the flight, she didn’t say anything.
She preferred closing her eyes and relaxing, still wrapped in my hands. When we landed, the car was already waiting for us.
We quickly checked into the hotel and went directly to the hospital after changing our clothes. Ahana was dead silent during the entire journey. I rarely see her like this.
