Episode 50
The guests had already arrived. I quickly rushed in. Two people followed me with the gifts. Mir was standing in the doorway.
When they saw me, he came and gave me a tight hug. I missed him too.
“Buddy… I thought you wouldn’t come. But I am really happy you made it.” I nodded. He took me inside, and I saw Piya. She was glowing. I hugged her.
“Piya… You look beautiful. And cute…” I said. Her traditional dress was suiting her. Mir was also wearing a kurta.
“My baby really cares for me,” she said, laughing and putting her hand on her grown belly.
I signaled the helpers to put the gifts on the table.
“Ansh… This wasn’t necessary. Why did you bring so much?” Mir said.
“It’s for my champ. I don’t want the baby to think that his uncle doesn’t love him,” I replied.
I looked around. I saw Dad, grandad, Ahana’s dad, and grandpa chatting. Ma was also speaking to Piya’s parents. Mir’s parents were there.
But amongst everyone, I didn’t see Ahana. She was supposed to arrive first.
“Hey… Searching for someone?” Mir asked.
“Nope…” I replied, but before I could finish, Piya jumped in.
“Of course… He is looking for his wife. Ahana… Isn’t it? Actually, I am sorry I took her from you for some days, but I swear if she and Jaai weren’t there, I wouldn’t have made it…” She and Jaai. So he was also present.
“… Ahana has been a savior. She has done all the arrangements. She went to bring the sweets. She must be back in a minute.”
I looked around. Everyone was traditionally dressed, and I stood out as the odd one. Just then, I caught sight of her.
She had several packets in her hand, obstructing my view of her. I approached to assist her before she fell, but Jaai came to her aid. I saw him supporting Ahana from her waist and taking charge of everything.
She had a smile on her face. Jaai had been absent until now, but he suddenly appeared like a hero.
I despised him even more. He was also wearing a traditional outfit.
To describe Ahana as beautiful would be an understatement. She looked stunning. Her hair was let loose, contrary to its usual tied-up state.
She was wearing a traditional attire that barely covered her, revealing her perfect figure. It irritated me further that her outfit matched Jaai’s. They both looked like a couple.
She wore a yellow blouse with a long yellow lehenga, or you could say a long flared skirt with decorative lace and a pink dupatta. She adorned minimal jewelry and appeared as the most beautiful person.
“Ansh… Isn’t your wife gorgeous? You seem captivated. Stop staring. She’s already yours,” I overheard Mir say. Piya burst into laughter.
I wished…
“I swear, Ansh… Ahana is a sweetheart. She took charge and organized such a wonderful event for us.
She made everything so special. You’re lucky,” Piya complimented.
“Hey, Ahana. Look who’s here,” Piya called her. When she saw me, our eyes met.
I thought she wouldn’t appreciate it, but her eyes indicated otherwise. She approached us with a smile, followed by Jaai.
“Hi, Ansh. We thought you wouldn’t come. You’re always so busy,” Jaai said, and I wanted to hit him.
“Actually, it’s high time I prove someone wrong,” I replied. I believe Ahana understood what I meant.
“See, he brought so many gifts,” Piya showed them, and I anticipated their surprise because I had already outdone them. However, Ahana was overjoyed.
“That’s so sweet of you, Ansh. I’m sure the baby will love it. Isn’t that right, J?” She said, smiling.
“Absolutely…”
“Piya… But there are still many more to come… Just wait and see,” Ahana said, and I wondered what she meant.
Then the ceremony commenced, with everyone following the traditional customs under the guidance of the elders.
Everyone danced, and secretly, I captured some photos of Ahana.
“Alright! It’s time to cut the cake. Come on,” Ahana called everyone and positioned Piya and Mir in the center.
It was a three-tier cake adorned with cute baby-themed decorations. Ahana appeared more excited than anyone else.
Afterward, when everything was done and the guests had left, only family members remained. Ahana signaled Jaai to bring something.
I saw him approaching with something wrapped in paper. She asked Piya and Mir to unwrap it.
I was astonished. It was a photo frame featuring the three of us from our college days. Just like old times.
“It’s from me and Ansh…” She mentioned my name as well, and I wasn’t even aware.
“I just want our friendship to endure like this forever. True friends are a blessing in disguise.”
Then, a few more people arrived, bringing a baby cradle and nursery items.
“It’s from the Raichand family,” she said, considering the whole family. I, being foolish, only thought about myself.
Ma also brought more presents along with Jaai.
“It’s from the Sehgal family,” she said.
They weren’t something significant. So Jaai was only assisting Ahana with this, of which I had no knowledge.
“Ahana… But Ansh already brought so many nice things…” Piya said.

“Piya… I genuinely had no idea about all this. Consider it as an added bonus. But I’m really happy he did this…” Ahana said, her smile unwavering.
I felt a great sense of pride. She was so caring. Just then, the photographer approached to take pictures and requested everyone to gather.

I noticed Jaai and Ahana standing close to each other. I hurriedly went to her side. She greeted me with a big smile. Oh, how I missed that!
Swiftly, I placed my hand on her soft and exposed waist, and she quickly reacted, mouthing, “What?” Instead, I winked at her.
“Say cheese…” is what I said…
