Episode 2
Zoey’s Perspective:
Mandy and I hailed a cab and headed to the venue of the party, which was held in a classy event center.
“Thank goodness we’re not running late. Thank your lucky stars, Zoey,” Mandy said as we entered what seemed like a club to me.
Oh my! Loud upbeat music was playing, and almost everyone was dancing.
“Wohoo!” Mandy raised her hands in the air and shouted.
Oh my!
“Mandy,” I lightly slapped her arm.
¢razy girl.
We passed by the numerous people dancing until we found an empty table.
“Where could Donna be?” I asked as Mandy grabbed a glass of wine from the table and started drinking it.
“Well… she’s the one we’re celebrating. What do you expect?” She asked and took another sip of wine.
Oh dear! This place is so noisy. It’s actually my first time attending such a party, so you can’t blame me.
If the celebrant wasn’t a close friend, I wouldn’t have agreed to come.
“Come on, Zoey; let’s dance,” Mandy said as she began moving her body wildly.
“You know me, Mandy; I don’t dance,” I rolled my eyes and poured myself a drink.
She laughed and continued dancing energetically, and soon, two guys approached us.
“Hey, beautiful,” one of them tapped Mandy, and when she turned to look at him, she smiled and jumped on him.
“Hey, handsome!” She giggled, and they kssed.
What? Who is this guy?
Hm.
“I’ve been looking all over for you. I thought you weren’t coming,” he said.
“Yeah – I was just about to call you, anyway,” she replied and pecked his lips before he put her back on her feet.
“So… why don’t we go have fun?” He suggested, and she chuckled, turning to me.
“See you later, Zoey. I’m sure Leo will keep you company,” she winked at me and left before I could say anything.
What? Is she serious??
“Mandy…” I tried to call her back, but she disappeared into the crowd with him.
Oh my! She didn’t tell me she had a new boyfriend.
“Hi,” the second guy greeted.
And why did he stay behind?
“Hi,” I murmured and took a sip from my glass.
I noticed him licking his lips, then leaning on the table.
“So, I’m… Leo. And what might your beautiful name be?” He asked, and I scoffed.
“Sorry, but I’d like to keep that personal,” I said straightforwardly.
“Hold on; I think I remember! It’s Zoey, right?” He asked excitedly, and I rolled my eyes.
Mandy!! Look at what she caused.
“Hmm. So, it is Zoey. Nice name,” he complimented with a nod, but I didn’t say anything. Instead, I just drank from my glass.
“Uh… are you also a friend of the celebrant?” He inquired.
“Yeah.”
“O…kay. Would you mind joining me for a dance?” He asked, and I chuckled.
“Sorry, I don’t dance,” I replied.
“Awwn. Why? Such a pretty lady not dancing?
“Anyway, I…”
And that’s how he started bringing up other topics. Although he seemed talkative, I must admit, he really kept me entertained.
I ended up laughing along the way.
After a while, his phone rang, and he excused himself to receive the call.
I checked the time – wow! I needed to get ready to leave before my mother gets angry at home.
But where’s Mandy? I needed to inform her that I was leaving.
