“Letter From Nneka”

Hello, Pastor D, I hope you get to read this. I am sorry about what happened the last time. I am not a bad girl, please forgive me.

But if you think I am a bad girl, I want you to know that Ella, the one that is trying to entice you is worse. I am an angel to compare to her.

You may not believe this, but I am going to tell you three secrets about her that you have never heard. If you hear this, you would see why you should run from her and embrace me.

Firstly, Ella is a liar, she has many secrets she won’t tell you because she knows you would run.

Let me tell plain and simple that Ella can never be pregnant, she has fibroid! Don’t you see how her stomach is big? That is why she is desperate for you because you have a child already. She’s faking to love Chris, it’s all lie.

If you marry her, just know that Chris would be the only child you will have in your life. If I am lying ask her or go to the hospital. I may not have money like her, but I am a fruitful land, you and I will have children but Ella can never be pregnant…”

Pastor D couldn’t hold his tears, he burst them out, he couldn’t believe he was reading.

“But how did this letter get to Chris’ cloth?

Why am I reading it after months when we have already married? Ella has indeed been hiding things from me ”

His tears increased as he read on.

“I am Nneka, everyone knows me. Some say I talk anyhow, but I am a known devil, Ella is an unknown devil.

Let me tell you the second thing, did you know that two guys left her because of pride? She is arrogant because of her father’s wealth. If you marry her, she will want to become your boss…

(Pastor D started nodding as he read, he was like, it was perfectly true)

…Now let me burst your bubble and tell you something secret, this is how it happened….***

Pastor D stopped, he felt like he heard footsteps.

Ella had heard Pastor D’s voice crying, she became scared, she thought he was crying because of their misunderstanding. She left her room coming reluctantly to meet him.

Pastor D paused, listened carefully to hear the footsteps and then continued,

“this is is how it happened…”

He heard the sound again, paused and continued, ” this is how it happened, did you remember your wife…

“Kokoko” Ella knocked on the door.

Pastor D quickly hide the letter under the bed and bowed his head like he was praying. Though he wished he had quickly read how it happened. Ella entered and knelt to beg him, “I am sorry for what I said, please come to the bedroom,” Ella said about to cry when she saw his red eyes.

Pastor D kept quiet, he was thinking about the letter, “how it happened” he was curious so he kept quiet. “What happened? How did it happen?

Ella spoke more, “Be a man now, I didn’t say much, I was just trying to explain. You should be happy I have come to apologize…”

Pastor D said, “Really?”

And within his heart, he said, “She is truly proud, look at how she is talking to me. I know what to do, I will get the whole truth before I react. I will go to the room now and come to read ‘how it happened’ later.”

He faked a smile and stood, they both left for their room. But Pastor D was thinking about “how it happened.”

He remembered that Nneka once said Ella knew about his wife’s death. “Could that be what happened? But how?” he thought.

They both laid down and Ella made a move to make love with Pastor D. He rejected her, especially when he saw her big stomach.

“It’s true, her stomach is big, that’s nothing but fibroid. What is the essence of a big stomach that can’t conceive? And she’s proud on top of it. I won’t touch her, I just want to see the end, how it happened.”

Pastor D rejected Ella’s move and complained that he was tired. Ella slept in his arms all the same.

About an hour later, it was 11:50 pm, Ella was fast asleep, Pastor D tried to stand and tiptoe to the other room and read how it happened. He was about to open the door when Ella changed position on the bed, Pastor D diverted to the bathroom and came out two minutes later to lay on the bed.

At 12 a.m, the alarm rang, it was their prayer time, but Pastor D wasn’t interested in praying, his heart was heavy and he didn’t want to pray with Ella.

He laid asleep beside Ella and they both slept. Pastor D couldn’t stop thinking about how it happened.***

How it happened…

…I never knew Ella had fibroid, your late wife, Mama Chris told me. There was a day I was discouraged and I went to her for counselling about my delayed marriage. The Bro I wanted to marry suddenly changed his mind to marry Ella. It was so painful.

Your wife said I should not worry that the man didn’t know what he wanted. She told me that the man didn’t even know that Ella had fibroid.

I was shocked when she told me, but said she didn’t say it to ridicule Ella because they had been friends for many years. When I heard this, I left the bro for Ella. But the man eventually dumped her and ran away.

I don’t know how Ella got to know that your late wife told me about her fibroid. She became angry and told me herself that your wife would pay severely for it.

The day your wife died, at the junction from afar, I saw Ella’s car and a paper was thrown out of the car. When I got to the spot, I saw the paper Ella threw outside on the ground, squeezed, I picked it up, it was a receipt of a substance bought from a chemical shop.

Ella went to the hospital and arranged with a nurse. They put that substance in her injection….
