SWEET THORN : CHAPTERS 31 – 40

Chapter 39

As the cry grew more, so was her curiosity. She’s looking around the shelves, to see if there is any hidden person.

Her search proved negative, but something else caught her attention and that was the way a part of the wall was inner than others.

She walked slowly to that wall’s side. After a few seconds of summoning courage, she used her right palm to press the wall slightly.

Shock ate her up as the wall made a cracking sound and started opening.

“What in the world…” she muttered with wide eyes and opened mouth.

She felt scared and couldn’t move again, but loud cries were echoing in the dark passage.

“Hello! Is someone there? She asked, walking in. Luckily, she had her phone with her, so she used it’s light.

“Anybody?” She asked again while still walking.

As she walked in more, she saw a door in front of her and it’s the only door there. She unhooked the door’s lock and opened it.

Right there in front of her, was someone chained like an animal, big chains all over the person’s body.

She couldn’t see the person’s face because of the thick darkness there.

Slowly with pounding heartbeats, she raised her phone higher to see well. It’s a woman with her head bent, and her long hairs were covering her face.

“Who are you?” She asked, swallowing hard.

“Pearl” the woman muttered weakly as she raised her head up slowly, and her phone and the book she held fell from her hands.

“Mo..ther?” She stuttered with a broken voice and widened eyes.

“Mo..ther?” She stuttered with a broken voice and widened eyes.

“Mum” she rushed to her mother and hugged her tight, even with all her dirt.

“You’ve been here suffering along, while I live misery” Pearl said, crying.

“I.. missed you so much a..nd everybody else” she kept crying hard with a voice filled with agony.

“I missed you dearly too, my baby. Every day of my life has been torturous, thinking I might never see you again” her mum replied with her own tears dripping on her.

“What about dad and my big sister?” Pearl asked as she raised her face to hers.

“They’re… gone” she replied with a dejected look.

“No! No! Nooo!!! She screamed with more tears pouring out.

“They’re still out there somewhere. Please tell me you’re lying”

“No my dear, they’re really gone” her mum responded, crying with her.

“We have to leave here now, before that mo.nster comes back” Pearl said sternly as she got up.

“But how can you do that? these chains are very strong”

“I will just have to try, I don’t want to lose you too” she replied with a sniff as she started pulling the chains.

Seeing that the chains weren’t moving, she picked up a stone she saw on the floor and started htting it hard.

After what seemed like forever, she was able to break it.

“Am sorry I didn’t come earlier mum” Pearl apologized as she loosened the chains from her body.

“It’s not your fault my dear baby” she smiled weakly and fell as the last chain was loosened.

“Are you okay?” Pearl asked fearfully, seeing how weak she looked.

“Yes, thank you so much” her mum replied as Pearl helped her stand on her staggering feet.

“Am happy the most precious to me has returned” she said as her dirty face beamed with happy smiles.

“I’m beyond happy that I didn’t lose you too” Pearl smiled back and hugged her back again.

“Now we’ll always be together” her mum said with a sudden different voice and Pearl quickly broke the hug.

“Mum!” She called, staring at her strangely.

“Yes my darling” the woman smile deviously as her eyes changed it’s color.

“Who a..are you? Pearl stuttered, walking back.

“Am your mother swerry!” The woman answered, sounding pitiful as she walked slowly towards her.

“That’s a lie, you’re nothing like her”

“Oh! really?” She smiled dvilishly, still coming closer to her.

“Stay away from me” Pearl yelled, trying to run but finds herself unmovable.

“Not until I am done draining all your energy from you” she smirked.

All of a sudden, a golden circle formed around her. As the light shimmered, it drained energy from her.

“How dare you touch what’s mine?” Draco’s voice echoed loudly as he appeared.

“Glad you could join the party” the lady smiled deviously and changed to her true form.

“I truly owe your little pet all the thanks for setting me free” Lilith said with a devious smile after changing back fully.
