CHAPTER 40

EMP. AUGUSTUS CHAMBER

Queen Nana entered the chamber and Emperor Augustus turned away from the window.

“It time, Augustus” she muttered and he groaned.

“Mother…..”

“Don’t call me, you have been staying alone….why don’t you make Esmeralda the empress” she cut him off.

“I was once a mistress too before I became the empress……you can’t just wait for the so-called goddess to change your fate. Esmeralda is the one for you” She added.

“She did Already, mother” he blurted and she was taken aback.

“What!!!!, the Goddess had abandoned us”

“No she didn’t, all thanks to the soceerer…….Fate changed already”

“How can this happen” she mouthed.

“It bound to happen, Mother” He said, calmly.

“You can’t just wait, Make Esmeralda your empress…..she might be the one” Queen Nana urged.

“We’ll talk later Mother, You can leave” He told her.

“Are you telling me leave” she raised a brow.

“No mother, I’m just tired of this discussion” He groaned.

“Alright” she muttered and left the chamber.

Emperor Augustus inhaled and exhaled loudly before going to his seat picking up a parchment.

Aurora has been summoned to the emperor’s chamber and she wondered why he called for her.

She exhaled and entered the chamber to see him sitting with a parchment in front of him.

“My Lord, I’m here” she called and he raised his head.

“Why did you allow him touch you” he blurted without thinking and she was taken aback by his words.

She remembered being with Caeser when the emperor saw her and she blinked.

“We were…..just having a harmless conversation” she replied, scratching her hair.

“That doesn’t mean he should touch you” he cut in and she swallowed.

“From now on, No other man should touch you not even the slightly part of your hair…….do you understand me” he warned and she quickly nodded.

Why is he being protective? This is weird??

“Come over here” he ordered calmly and she moved closer.

“Get me my tea from the dining area” he ordered and she did just that immediately.

“Is there anything I can help you with, My lord” she asked.

“Can you read” he turned his gaze to her after taking a sip.

“Yes My Lord” she replied.

He handed some parchment to her “Take this, Read it” he said and she took it and started reading using the parchment to cover her face so as to prevent herself from staring at him.

Minutes Later, she heard snores and she put down the parchment to see the Emperor sleeping while snoring softly.

She was lost in staring at him as her hands moved towards his hair. She heard noises at the door and she halted.

“I want to see his highness” A voice came from outside and Aurora recognized it to be the Esmeralda’s.

She looked back at the emperor and saw him still sleeping, she didn’t want to wake him up before he get angry at her as she didn’t want that.

Her heart beat rised, she doesn’t want the mistress to meet her here?

“His highness gave us order not to allow anyone in till tomorrow” One of the guards said, loudly but polite.

“You shouldn’t stop me from seeing him, that rule shouldn’t be applicable to me” She growled wanting to go in when the guards stopped her.

“My lady, you have to go” The other guards said.

Esmeralda didn’t heed but she pushed the guards away gaining entrance to the chamber.
