CHAPTER 44

ESMERALDA’S CHAMBER

Esmeralda was in her bath tub relaxing as the warm water made her refreshed. Flowers filled the bathtub as she closed her eyes.

Sage was rubbing her shoulder as she sat comfortably in the bathtub

“My lady, you keep smiling all these while….or is there a good news” she wiggled her brows.

“More than that” Esmeralda replied.

“Wow!, I’ll like to hear it” Sage Exclaimed.

“I will be having an heir soon….”

“Seriously, My lady……I thought…..” she said.

“He did already, I made him do it…….I’ll should be expecting a baby soon” she smiled rubbing her stomach.

“That very wise, My lady….no wonder you keep smiling” Sage replied.

“Why won’t i, I am already the soon-to-be Empress” she said proudly.

“At least, that slave would stay in her place” sage muttered and Esmeralda chuckled.

“She doesn’t even need to stay in this palace, once I’m made the Empress….she is a goner” Esmeralda mumbled confidently.

“That the deal, My lady” Sage eyes gleamed.

THE CHOSEN ONE : CHAPTERS 41 – 50

12PM~MAIDS QUARTERS

Aurora tossed and turned in bed, unable to shake off the restlessness that had been disturbing her for hours.

She closed her eyes, willing herself to fall asleep, but her mind refused to quiet down.

Finally, she sat up, hugging her knees to her chest as she gazed at her sleeping companions, Sage and Jade.

Why was she the only one awake?

Frustrated, Aurora threw off her covers and got out of bed. She padded softly out of the maids’ quarters, not wanting to disturb the others.

The palace corridors were dimly lit, the only sound being the soft creaking of the wooden floorboards beneath her feet. She made her way to the exit, her heart pounding in her chest as she slipped past the sleeping guards.

Outside, the night air was crisp and cool, filled with the scent of damp earth and decaying leaves. Aurora shivered, wrapping her arms around herself as she gazed out at the dark woods before her.

Is this how the outer part of the Palace is? How had she ended up here??

Panic began to set in as she realized she was lost.

As she turned to retrace her steps, the path behind her disappeared, swallowed up by the darkness.

Aurora’s heart skipped a beat. “I came out from…here just now?” she pointed, her voice barely audible.

Suddenly, she heard footsteps crunching through the underbrush, growing louder with each passing moment. Her heart raced as a terrifying creature emerged from the shadows.

Its eyes were on its chest, its mouth twisted into a grotesque grin on its forehead. Horns sprouted from its head, casting eerie shadows on the trees.

Aurora’s mind raced as she took a slow step backward, her eyes fixed on the creature. It moved closer, its eyes fixed on her, and she knew she had to run.

Her heart pounding in her chest, she turned and sprinted through the forest, the creature hot on her heels.

Why did I come out’ she mumbled inwardly as she regretted coming out wishing someone could come save her from this creature.

Branches slapped at her face, and her breath came in ragged gasps as she desperately sought escape. Just when she thought all was lost, she collided with a hard chest.

The creature fled on seeing him.

Aurora looked to see the emperor’s gaze on her, their face were inches apart from each other.

His eyes blazed with concern as he grasped her shoulders, holding her steady. “You shouldn’t be walking alone this late,” he muttered, his voice low and she blinked cutely.

“Stop doing that” he Muttered and she blinked again unknowingly.

She suddenly felt something on her lips and she widened her eyes in surprise.

The Emperor just kissed her??
