THE MAN IN MY DREAMS : CHAPTER 31 – 40

Chapter Thirty Six

Ava kept on thinking about what happened that night, recalling every moment.
As she walked slowly towards Erica’s room, some nurses pushed her as the ran into the room. Ava started to wonder what happened.
She hoped nothing went wrong while she was away.

She got into the room and saw Erica sitting up already. The room was a little crowded. She can’t believe that she was awake already.

“Erica!” She cheered as she ran to hug her friend.

“Slowly ma’am. She’s still weak” the doctor said.

“I want to go home” Erica said slowly.

“I know. But you still have to receive your treatment” Ava said.

“No… I don’t want to stay here”

“Doctor, arrange her discharge papers. She can receive the remaining treatment in my house” Calvin said.

“But…”

“Please” he interrupted.

“Sure, come with me” the doctor took him to his office.

“I will go get some of her dresses from the house. I’m glad you are awake. My sister is very strong” George said and left the room.
Ava and Erica were alone in the room. Even the nurses left.

“He saved you, huh?” Ava asked.

“Yeah, he did. I remembered when he jumped on my, he was so heavy” Erica said slowly.

“I’m glad you’re back Erica. I missed you so much” she said.

Erica smiled and lowered her gaze.
“He didn’t visit me right?”

Ava shook her head.
“No, he didn’t”

She smiled again and sighed.

“I..I have to tell you something Erica” she said.

Erica raised her head and stared at her.
“What is it?” She asked.

“Well, it’s a secret I hid from you. You are my best friend and I don’t want to hide anything from you”

“Is it really important?” Erica asked.

“Yes it is” she replied.

“Fine, spill it” Erica said, waiting for her to talk.

Ava really wanted to tell Erica and bear the consequences. She knew that Erica would be furious and won’t want to talk to her when she hears it.

“I.. I don’t know where to start from”

“You can start from anywhere”

“I had sx with Dylan. I’m really sorry” she said, expecting her to be angry or probably slap her.

Erica sucked in her lips and chuckled softly.
“It took you seven years to tell me that little secret of yours”

Ava turned to face Erica, giving her a what the fk look.
“Huh?”

“I knew about it. I watched you two that night. Dylan didn’t place me well on the bed so I fell and broke the vase. But it wasn’t your fault, it wasn’t his either. It was all my fault. If I’d given him what he needed, it wouldn’t have gotten to this”

“So.. you aren’t mad at me?” Ava asked, pouting her lips like a baby.

“No, I’m not. I mean, yes I am” Erica stammered.

“Please don’t be. You are gonna break my heart” she wanted to cry.

“I’m mad at you for not telling me until now. Why now?”

“I went to Dylan’s house moment ago. He almost forced himself on me again. And guess what? The dude is married”

“Whatever! I don’t care” she rolled her eyes.

“So, you are gonna move to the mansion and eat good food”

“What are you talking about?” Erica asked.

“Calvin said you are under his care and roof till the culprit is found. There are two hot bodyguards outside your door. Girl… You are lucky”

“I don’t want to. I can’t stay in the house where my boss live in and his ¢razy sister”

“Speaking of her, she was here last night. She came to visit you. She also cried and said she was sorry for the bad things she did for you. Seem like we has changed”

“I’ll believe it when I see it” Erica scoffed and rolled her eyes.

Calvin appeared in the room after an hour. The doctor assisted Erica on a wheelchair.

“After three days, you’ll have to use crutches” he said.

“Sure” she said with a smile. She loved her wheelchair. It had a remote control which she could use to move herself around.

“Don’t smile too much” Calvin said. She tried stopping but she didn’t. The doctor gave her some drugs and also some advice on what do take and do.

She listened carefully but it got to a point that it became tiring.
After the lectures, she strolled out of the room with Ava and Calvin by her side. They got into the elevator and went to the first floor.

As they went towards the door, Dylan appeared out of no where and stopped in front of them.
They bodyguards wanted to attack him but Erica stopped them.

“What do you want Dylan?”

He was smiling when he saw her on a wheelchair.
“There’s something you’d like to know between Ava and I” he said.

“Hmmmm, Ava?” Erica raised her head and stared at Ava, winking at her.

“Yes, Ava! We both had sx while you were asleep seven years ago”

Erica gave a pretense gasp and stared at Ava.
“You did what? I can’t believe that” she said showing a shocking expression.

“So?” She suddenly snapped.

“What? Aren’t you going to stop being her friend? I just said I slept with her, when we were dating”

“Yeah, we did sleep together but I got tired quickly because of your tiny thin” she said and walked away.

Dylan grabbed his trouser and shot his mouth wide open. Calvin cleared his throat and walked away.

“Bye.. ex boyfriend” she winked and left with the bodyguard. They glared at him as they walked pass him.

He couldn’t believe that Erica didn’t even react to what happened between them and Ava called him tiny thing.
He swallowed hard and left the hospital in shame. He saw as they drove off in beautiful car.

He still didn’t believe any of what just happened. He was so ashamed and wish the ground could just swallow him already.

After some hours, they got to the mansion.
Ava helped Erica alight from the car.

She sat on her wheelchair and rode herself into the house.
The door flung open as Barbie pushed the door wide open for them to come in.

“Welcome Erica” she said with a broad smile on her face.

Ava bent her lips to Erica’s ear.
“Believe me now?”

“Oh yeah, I do now” she replied.

“Dinner is ready now”

“No, she can’t eat any oily food for now. Tee, take her to her room, Barbie get the cook to my room immediately” Calvin said, heading up the stairs. He stopped and turned to stare at Barbie.

“Where’s Kelvin?” He asked.

“In his room. He didn’t come out all day” she said.

“I see. Ava, make yourself fell comfortable”

“Uh.. is there free WiFi?” She asked.

“Oh yeah, there is. Just make yourself feel comfortable” he said and head upstairs.

Tee carried Erica like a baby to her room. It was very beautiful with a balcony. She loved her bed even by looking at it already. She saw some make-up and perfume in her room.

“I don’t need those” she thought and rolled her eyes.

“If you need anything ma’am, let me know” he said and went out of the room.

Erica rode herself to her balcony and looked everywhere.
“Woah, it’s so beautiful” she murmured. This was the only mansion in this part of the estate so there wasn’t much to be seen.

There was a knock on the door.
Before she could say come in, it flung open as Calvin walked in.

“Sorry for barging in. From what the doctor said you could eat, what do you feel like eating?”

“I have no idea, I don’t like vegetables”

“I knew that. So, you have to take fruit salad”

“I guess that’s alright” she said.

He nodded and turned to leave.
“Calvin…” She called out his name, first time without being asked to.

He smiled and turned to face her, giving her a questioning look.

“Why are you helping me?” She asked, expecting a reply from him.

“Let me just say that I have feelings for you” he said.

Erica shot her eyes wide open. She didn’t expect such straight reply.

“No way…” She murmured.

He squatted in front of her and touched her hair slowly.
“I’m a playboy, a cray one but that was till I met you. I don’t understand how and why I suddenly change but all is because of you”

Erica didn’t know what to say. She wished she didn’t ask the question in the first place.

“I don’t know what to say” she whispered.

“It’s okay. I’m breathtaking” he said jokingly.

She smiled and whispered a thank you to him. He winked and left the room.
She felt happy somehow and finds it a little strange.

Barbie and Ava came into Erica’s room with food and some clothes that George brought for her.

“Where is George?” She asked.

“He left. He had some things to take care of. He said to let you know about that”

“It’s okay” she said and checked the dress.

“I know you’ve been off work for some days because of me and we didn’t have the opportunity to used the card as wished. So, I think you should go have fun on your own”

“No way, I can’t without you”

“Of course you should. If you don’t, I will be mad at you”

“Fine, I will. Take care of yourself”

“I’m here to take good care of her” Barbie said, still holding her fruit salad.

Ava gave a weird smile and left the room.

Barbie gave Erica her salad. She opened it and saw a lot of fruits cut into small pieces with milk and nuts in it. It was also chilled.

“Woah”

“I made it myself. I hope you like it” Barbie said.

Erica shoved a spoon into her mouth and chewed slowly.
“It’s yummy. But there are some fruits I’ve never eaten before”

Barbie gave a quick laugh.
“Very funny” she said.

There was silent in the room as Erica ate till Barbie broke it.
“I apologized to you for the bad things I did to you but that was when you were unconscious” she said.

“It’s okay. I wasn’t mad at you”

“I guess that’s why my brothers love you” she said.

“I see… But I’m not sure they do. They are just my boss who cares”

“If they didn’t, Calvin wouldn’t have done all of this and Kelvin wouldn’t have spent the whole night in the hospital staring at you”

Erica choked on her food and started coughing. Barbie gave her some juice and pat her back slowly.

“You need to eat slowly”

“Kelvin was where?” She asked.

“Yes, he did told the doctor not to let anyone know but he forgot to te the nurses” she smiled.

“I still can’t believe it. I never knew he was there to see me. He also saved me that day”

“So, which of them do you like?” Barbie sucked in her lips.

“Oh no, I can’t like any of them. I mean, I can’t date my boss” she said.

“It’s nothing. Just… Fine, I understand what you mean but I think they both like you. Eat your meal, I’ll go get your drugs” Barbie said and left the room.

What Barbie said still replayed in her mind. She couldn’t believe that Kelvin visited her at the hospital.
She needed to talk to him.

She was tired of the food already. She took her drugs and had a warm bath, all thanks to Barbie. She wasn’t that bad as she thought.

When it was evening, Barbie took her around the house, showing her all the corners and rooms of the house.

“That’s the gym room” Barbie said and opened the door. They just looked round from where they stood.

“It’s really huge. I haven’t been to a gym before” she said.

“Oh!” She replied and took her to the other rooms.

“That’s the kitchen, that’s the maids rooms. That’s the swimming pool”

“Woah, a pool. Can I see that?” She asked.

“Sure” she said and rolled her to the pool.

“Woah, I love swimming but I can’t” Erica chuckled.

“What did you do throughout your childhood?”

“Nothing just work, work and… Also work. My parents died when I was young”

“I heard that” she replied with a sad voice.
“Maybe once you are well, I can teach you”

“For real?” She asked.
Barbie nodded and rolled her to the other room.

“What’s that?” She asked at a room with double doors.

“Well, that’s my brother’s home office. I know Kelvin would be there” Barbie said and went to peep into the room.

“Why are you looking into my office?”
They heard a sudden voice and got frightened. Erica turned and saw Kelvin in a singlet and short. She wanted to laugh but can’t. She turned away from him, blushing.
