THE MIRACLE I NEED : Episode 1 – 10
EPISODE 6
Kathleen had worked her way into a very foul mood by the time she walked out of her room carrying a big bag which contained all the necessary things she would be needing for the weekend.
She said nothing to Pete as she got into the car, and the moment she shut the door she took out her phone to call her choirmaster, “Brother James, it’s me Kathleen, can you hear me?” She asked immediately Brother James took the call.
“I’m sorry I can’t attend tonight’s rehearsal, my boss gave me an assignment, so I have to stay back.” Kathleen explained before disconnecting the call.
It was as though Amanda could feel the tension between her father and Kathleen, she didn’t say a word and neither did any of the two adults speak to each other. The only sound in the car was the music coming from the stereo which was connected to the Bluetooth of Pete’s phone.
Pete hissed irritably when his phone started ringing again, and he took the call not bothering to disconnect it from the stereo, “I’ll join you guys soon.” Pete informed Ken irritably.
“Hey handsome… I just wanted to be sure you’re still joining us and Ken isn’t just trying to prank me.” Kimberly’s voice sailed over the car alongside the loud music which was playing in the background.
“Kim.” Pete said with a grin.
“I see you still remember me.” Kimberly said with a flirty giggle which made Kathleen want to hiss. So he had stopped her from attending her vigil simply because he wanted to hook up with a lady?
“When I’m not mad? How can I ever forget you?” Pete asked making Kimberly screech with laughter.
“You obviously haven’t lost your beautiful sense of humor. I’ll be waiting for you then.” Kimberly said in a sultry voice before disconnecting the call.
Pete had a grin on his face until his eyes met with Kathleen’s eyes in the rearview mirror and he observed the way she was glaring at him. “Need I remind you that I’m your boss?” He asked with an evil smile, since something told him she was trying to refrain herself from saying something.
“Isn’t that the only reason I’m not saying anything?” Kathleen asked and turned to look at Amanda who had fallen asleep.
“Good. As long as you remember that, then I guess we will get along pretty well.” Pete said as he parked the car in front of a really big compound.
“You don’t want to get down?” He asked as he got out of the car and went over to the other side of the car to carry Amanda.
Kathleen grudgingly picked up her bag and got out of the car to follow him inside. Immediately they entered the compound, a huge white dog bolted out from God knows where and tried pouncing on her.
“Blood of Jesus! Jesus!” Kathleen shrieked fearfully and shut her eyes very tightly, her heart beating really fast as the dog licked her hands.
Pete roared with laughter when he heard her calling for Jesus, “I never figured you to be a drama queen. Come on in, Pandora is harmless. She’s just trying to introduce herself to you.” Pete said without stopping to spare either lady or dog a glance.
Kathleen managed to open one eye to peek at Pandora and shut it immediately she noticed the dog was still looking at her. She remained there standing very still until the dog got tired and moved away from her.
“I don’t have all night.” Pete called from inside, making Kathleen snap out of whatever zone she had been in, it wasn’t until she opened her eyes that she realized the dog had left already, so she quickly hurried in the direction she had seen Pete take.
“Wow! She finally made it!” Pete said dryly, “I’ll show you to your room. That’s the room you’ll be using whenever you’re around. Amanda shares a room with me for the time being, so you’ll be using the room opposite mine.” Pete said pointing to both rooms.
“She might wake up at night to eat, so I’ll show you the kitchen.” Pete said as he led the way to the kitchen. After showing her everything he considered important, he turned to look at her, “Do you have any question?”
“When are you coming back?” Kathleen asked, looking at the wall clock. The time was already past 8 PM.
“I’ll be back when you see me. Goodnight.”

“Are you sure he is still coming?” Kimberly asked with a frown. She has been waiting for him for over two hours already, and she was beginning to get fed up. She knew she could easily pick up any of the single guys in the club and have them satisfy her tonight as she usually does, but Pete was a handsome, wealthy and single guy. Someone from her own social class who she could easily get married to, and that was the only reason she was still exercising patience.
“He will come. I told you he had to take his daughter over to the babysitter’s house. Don’t worry, he will join us soon.” Ken assured her with a grin, as he squeezed the bum of the girl who was twerking in front of him.
“There he is! I told you.” Ken said with a grin as he pointed towards the entrance the moment he saw Pete walking in.
“What took you so long?” Kimberly asked with a pout, the moment Pete approached them.
“I’m sorry. I had to take care of something important. It’s good to see you again.” Pete said with a grin as he pecked both side of her cheeks.
Kimberly looked him over and felt like licking her lips, he was even more hot and handsome than she remembered him to be. She wondered just how hot he would be in the bedroom too.
“You are hot.” Kimberly whispered into his ear and nibbled on his ear lobe making Pete’s thing to go hard.
He swallowed convulsively, “And you are bold.” He told her with a grin as they both returned to where she had been seating.
“Guy how far na?” Ken asked as he reached out his hand to shake Pete’s hand.
“I’m okay mehn, that babysitter girl, I didn’t know she lives in a ‘face me I face you’ apartment. I couldn’t allow Amanda sleep there, so I had to drive them back to my house.” Pete explained.
“As beautiful as she is, she lives in such a poor area?” Ken asked in surprise.
“I couldn’t believe it myself.” Pete said with a shake of his head.
Kimberly cleared her throat, “Are you here to talk about your babysitter? Why don’t you guys talk about her when next you have your boys time out alone?” Kimberly asked, making Ken wink at Pete.
“Okay, since I’ve delivered him to you, I have to go take care of some serious business.” Ken said as he rubbed the erect nipple of the girl in front of him, “Guy, let’s see later.” Ken said before walking away with the girl.
“This Ken, he hasn’t changed.” Pete said in amusement, wondering how Ken could be so immoral in public.
“Have you?” Kimberly asked, as she moved closer to Pete.
“Have I what?” Pete asked in confusion.
“Have you changed? I remember you used to do a lot of silly stuff back then in school.” Kimberly said with a coy smile.
“Really? And what do you mean by silly stuff?” Pete asked with a grin, pretending to not understand what she was saying.
“If you ask me, na who I go ask?” Kimberly asked with a giggle, “On a serious note sha, you used to be pretty flirty back then, even though we never really got together.”
“So why didn’t we ever get together? I’m sure you knew I had the hots for you.” Pete asked curiously. Almost everyone in highschool had known about the huge crush he had on her.
“You never really asked me out.” Kimberly said with a crush.
“But I did give hints. Everyone else got it, why didn’t you?”
“Hints can be pretty misleading. What am I supposed to do with your hints? I prefer to go for something when I want it.” Kimberly said with a suggestive smile, as she moved even closer to him and placed her hands on his thing.
Pete understood the message she was trying to pass. She was sexually attracted to him and she wanted him, and that was okay by him. He just needed to be sure she wasn’t going to be dreaming of happily ever afters.
Pete cleared his throat, “Hold on…”
“What? Come on, don’t tell me being a father has changed you.” Kimberly said with a frown.
“I just want you to understand that there are no happily ever afters here. I’m not interested in a real relationship.” Pete said making Kimberly raise a brow.
“What do you mean by real relationship?”
“The only relationship I can offer you is friends with benefits. I’m not interested in love or marriage.” Pete said, making Kimberly’s lips twitch.
That was always easy for these rich guys to say. She was just going to agree to his terms right now and rope him in later. She intended to get married to him and have a real society wedding like her mates.
“Okay then. Friends with benefits it is.” She said with a wide smile.
