Chapter 32

BRITTANY’S POV

I waited in the bedroom as Hayden is with his mom. I know they are talking about me and I badly want to know what it is.

I sat on the bed and try to think about other things to get my mind off it but it sadly isn’t working.

I decided to log into social media and hopefully, funny updates would make me forget about Hayden’s mom and everything.

Immediately I put on my data, Brenda message came in.

Brenda- Hi Baby.

Me- hello.

Brenda- so are you going to the party?

Me- what party?

Brenda- where have you been living, the grave?

Me- maybe.

Brenda- ha ha. Check the school’s group chat. That’s what the students are talking about.

Me- the group chat’s messages are too much. Don’t know where to start from. Just tell me.

Brenda- Fine! Nick, the hot dude in creative art department is hosting a party at his house this Friday.

The entry is simple, come with the opposite gender.

Me- so you must go with a guy?

Brenda- exactly. So are you coming?

Me- No

Brenda- Oh Common. Don’t be a kill joy. It’s going to be fun.

Me- even if I am going which I definitely am not. I don’t have a guy to go with.

Brenda- that’s simple. A lot of guys are looking for partners to go for. You are cute. You would find a guy in no time.

Me- which guy are you going with?

Brenda- will ask Andy

Me- he is going?

Brenda- practically all the students are going.

I looked at the screen in anger and jealousy at the thought of Brenda going to the party with nick.

Me- I stay with my parents so uhm, don’t think I can go.

Brenda- you can just make up a lie. You can say the school is organizing a party or night reading. Just anything. You will be back before 10.

Me- I will think about it.

Messages from unknown numbers were coming in and in no time, I was able to discover they are getting my number from the school’s group chat and they are all guys asking to go with me to the party. I reply none as I thought of Brenda words.

While in high school, I attended a few parties. Sneak out with Ezra and Tiana and I never got caught.

I closed my eyes as I imagined Brenda and Andy kissing at the party.

“I don’t even like him, why is this all over my head” I wondered.

My heart love playing tricks on me. First it was Ezra, then Hayden, Now Andy. What’s wrong with me??

I was in thoughts that I didn’t notice Hayden enter the room until I felt his presence beside me.

I looked up at him.

“So??” I started. “She hates me?” I asked referring to his mom.

“Of course not. She loves you”

“I’m not so sure about that.”

“She was just trying to scare you. She’s happy I’m married and to a beautiful woman at that”

I blushed and looked at him cockily.

“You said it”

“Said what?” He scrunched his brows.

“You called me a woman. Last time I remembered, you said I’m not a woman”

“You are not. That was a slip of the tongue”

“I see” I said and bite my lips se..ductively.

“If you do that again, would be forced to do what I don’t want to do” he simply said.

I smirked and bite my lips again.

I was about talking but he cuts me off by slamming his lips on mine.

The kss was a bit rough and I love it.

He stopped and I looked disappointed but tried my best not to show it. He moved away from me and swiftly, he walked to the bathroom leaving me alone.

I looked on confusedly. Why would he kss me and walk away just like that.

I then remembered the last time and how I got angry when he went far.

I gulped down nothing feeling a bit guilty.

Lying on the bed, I closed my eyes and slept off almost immediately.

(The next morning)

I opened my eyes and Hayden was knotting his tie. He was all dressed up.

“How do you always manage to wake up so early” I asked as I got up from the bed stretching my hands.

“I’m used to it” he replied simply.

I nod as I watch him knot his tie. I was tempted to get up and help him with it but I didn’t.

Instead I made my way to the bathroom.

“Are you going to school now?” He asked as I was about i enter the bathroom.

“I don’t have class till 10” I answered.

“Okay then. Will be downstairs” he said and I nodded.

I entered the bathroom and looked at myself in the mirror. My hair were scattered all over my face.

“My morning look is the worst” I muttered to myself taking my brush to brush my teeth.

While I was done, I took my bath and dressed up.

I left the bedroom and went to the dining room to find Hayden and his mom talking and eating.

I gulped down nothing nervously. I don’t know why I’m scared of his mom.
I silently sat down beside Hayden. He looked at me and his face held an unreadable expression.

“Good morning” I greeted his mom.

“Morning. How was your night?” She asked and I noticed her voice is calm.

“Was good. Yours?”

“I can see. Good too” she smiled looking at me and Hayden.

Hayden stands up. “I’m leaving now” he announced. “Will be back early” he added and pecked his mom’s cheek.

He looked at me and for a moment, I thought he was going to do the same thing, instead, he gave me an half smile and walked away. Ouch!

His mom looked at me and then smiled.

“You love him right?”

“I don’t know” I decided to be honest.

“I think you do”

“You would accept me?”

“Of course yes”

“I thought you didn’t like me.” I utter.

She chuckled. “I do. It was Hayden’s choice to marry you. I can’t choose a woman for him. I’m glad he finally decided to settle down. I was a little bit discouraged because of your age at first but age is just a number after all and I know he really loves you. I have no choice but to accept you”

I nodded but five words out of everything she said ranged in my ear.
