Neil smirked and dropped the glass of wine on the table, he walked to the living room and jumped on the couch.

“This is much softer,” he moaned and Nicole walked further into the room.

“You have a sister?” Jerry gasped as he watched Nicole walk closer to Neil.

“What have you been up to these days?” Nicole asked. “Something good,” he replied with his eyes closed.

“Something good, you mean kidnapping?” Nicole asked with her hands folded.

“Kid…., why will I kidnap and who will I kidnap?” Neil asked with his eyes opened.

“Your suppose step-mother,” she replied and he chuckled.

“Never knew you watch the TV,” he said sarcastically. “It can’t be avoided when your brother is a criminal,” she replied and he sat up.

“That is mean Nicole,” he pouted childishly. “What did you do to the old woman?!” Nicole Inquired, loudly.

“Don’t bring down my house, Nicole!” He snapped. “I didn’t do anything wrong, I just brainwashed her,” he replied with a shrug.

“Brainwash?” Nicole asked. “Yeah, I told her the opposite of reality and she believed it,” he responded with a smile.

“I can’t believe we are siblings,” she said and sat on an armchair far from Neil.

“You should be grateful for having me, our lives will still be worthless if not for me,” he stated.

“I am grateful that you acted like a responsible big brother after what happened to our parents, but I am ashamed of what you let it do to you,” she replied.

“Do to me? What the heck do you mean by that?!” He asked with his eyes raging.

“You turned to a stranger, you are no longer the Neil I knew, the Neil I was proud of. You became a criminal,” she spat.

“Criminal? You have no idea what that word means, the criminals are the Zaragoza! They are the monster and criminals, it is their fault, everything we went through is their freaking fault! And the pain they are going through. The pain I am making and will make them go through can not be compared to what we went through,” he retorted.

“All this needs to stop Neil, you have done enough! You murdered Mr. Zaragoza, you infiltrate their family. I think you have done quite enough, they are not the only ones involved remember?” She asked.

“Yes, but they are the mastermind and I am not going to stop until I make life a living hell for them and their generations to come!” he snapped

“Mom and dad must be disappointed in you,” Nicole spat and stood up, she glanced at Neil whose breathing has become unstable before leaving.

“You sister is mad at you,” Jerry said behind him and he pushed the table in front of him making it shatter into pieces

Jerry moved back in fear while Neil growled lowly.

“How dare she speak when she has no idea of what I went through!” He sneered.

“Calm down Neil,” Jerry said. “Why do I have to be the bad guy when they are the devils?! Nicole will appreciate me when she understands my reasons,” he said through gritted teeth and left the house.

Romina watched her mom sleep peacefully without the aid of a machine or anything, she wanted to touch her and stroke her hair but she was scared of what her reaction will be so she held back.

It has always been her dream and prayer that her mom gets better but now that she is better she is not even courageous enough to stand as her daughter.

Mrs. Zaragoza opened her eyes and sat up, she didn’t notice Romina’s presence.

She sighed and hugged her knee to herself, she felt weird and didn’t understand why.

“Where is Neil?” She asked no one shortly after she remembered her orders for him to stay with her.

“Neil left hours ago,” Romina replied with a smile while Mrs. Zaragoza frowned instead.

“What are you doing here?” She inquired. Romina had no idea of what to say, she was worried and missed her but all that will sound like an excuse.

“I… I noticed you have been asleep for a while so I came to check up on you,” she responded.

“Came to see if I was still breathing?” Mrs. Zaragoza asked with a scoff.

“No, mom I was worried,” Romina replied. “I told you not to call me mom! I am not your mother!” She snapped.

“You are my mother, you gave birth to me and raised me, whatever Neil told you is a lie. Neil is the imposter and bast@rd, please, believe me, mom,” she pleaded as tears fell from her eyes.

She never knew the day will come that she will have to re-introduce herself to her mother and try to tell her things she knows.

“He told me you were going to say this, you have always badmouthed him and you will continue to. I don’t understand why your father gave you all the rights in the past, but I am here now to fight for my son,” she said.

“You have to believe me, all that you were told are lies,” Romina tried to sound convincing but it fell on the deaf ears.

“Why should I believe you if all you are going to say are lies? I will not let you instigate me against my son!” She snapped.

Romina was clueless about what to say to sound convincing, she bowed her head and sniffed in.

“Don’t believe me or Neil, but believe in yourself, listen to your heart. Only you can find out the truth mom,” she said and left the room.

“Romina,” Zoey called as she made to walk past her. “Not now, Zoey,” she replied and went to her room.

Zoey went downstairs and met nanny Romina to prepare dinner, Zoey stood by a chair and watched Nanny Romina carefully set the table.

“Romina has been in her mom’s room since earlier, can you go and get her?” Nanny Gloria requested.

“Romina is in a bad mood, but I will go and get Mrs. Zaragoza,” she said and went back upstairs.

“Mrs. Zaragoza,” Zoey called as she knocked on the door. “Come in,” she responded and Zoey went in.

“Who are you?” Mrs. Zaragoza asked, she would have assumed she was a maid but the maids were dressed in a uniform.

“My name is Zoey, I am Romina’s female best friend and a second daughter to you,” she introduced briefly.

“Second daughter?” She repeated more like a question, Neil didn’t mention Zoey to her.

“Could Romina plans to confuse me?” She mumbled inaudibly.

“It’s fine if you don’t remember me, I believe you will eventually,” she replied. “Dinner is ready,” she added and left the room.

Mrs. Zaragoza left the room after many thoughts, she didn’t want to move around the house without Neil.

Neil is the only person she trusts and his absence means they could be up to something.

She walked down the stairs and sighted nanny Gloria and Zoey waiting by the dining table.

“Good evening, ma’am,” nanny Gloria greeted and she responded with a nod.

Mrs. Zaragoza sat on a chair and waited while nanny Gloria dished the food, she was hesitant in eating it.

“Don’t you like the food? It’s one of your favorites,” Nanny Gloria said.

“Where is Neil?” Mrs. Zaragoza inquired, instead.

“He left hours ago and I doubt him coming back,” Zoey replied. “Why won’t he come back?” Mrs. Zaragoza asked.

“He doesn’t live here,” Nanny Gloria replied. “Romina threw him out?” Mrs. Zaragoza asked.

“No, he didn’t belong here in the first place,” nanny Gloria replied.

“I believe it’s Romina who doesn’t belong here,” she replied and stood up

“I am not eating the poison you prepare until my son returns,” she said and nanny Gloria glanced at Zoey.

Iris was done doing the dishes when her mom walked in to get a glass of water.

“Have you spoken to Elias?” Nora asked. “No, he is busy with an unknown. I think he hates me,” she replied.

“Don’t say that,” Nora cautioned. “But it is the truth mom,” she replied.

“He loves you, he just has a lot to deal with. Be patient, things will work out between you two,” Nora assured.

“How sure are you mom? Elias left in the middle of our discussion to attend to something I believe is more important than me, I called and texted but none was returned,” she said and sighed.

“I should not have told him about my past, it was a grave mistake doing that,” she mumbled and her mother hugged her.

“You just have to believe things will be fine,” Nora said. “I wonder how long it will take,” she said in her arms.

The doorbell rang and they disengaged from the hug. “I’ll go and get it,” Iris said and left the kitchen

Iris opened the door and her eyes widened at who she saw.
