The Next Day

Dylan’s Mansion

“Dylan.. I mean boss doesn’t know about this.. does he?” Claribel asked, hastening her footsteps as she headed towards the large verandah where the interview was taking place… With Lady Ann

Ann breathed

“I’m in charge of employing new maids, I don’t think I need to ask before I do what I ought to do” she replied

Claribel scoffed

“But at least….”

“Claribel!” She cautioned feeling frustrated already

“I understand you okay?, and he knows we need a new maid” she said and Claribel nodded slowly

The compound was filled with quite a large number of people, hoping to be the lucky winner

Deanna was present too, not with Princeton though.. sipping her cold juice almost every minute

Andrea wasn’t back from school yet

“Claribel..” Deanna smiled as she appeared alongside with Ann who already got herself sitted

“Madame Deanna..” she whispered and proceeded towards where she was sitting

They hugged,

“You grew more thicker” Deanna said and Claribel’s eyes widened

” what… Stop please” she bit her lower lip shyly and they both laughed

“We need to talk” Deanna said and she nodded

“Later”

“The interview begins now..” Ann announced and everyone got serious

Claribel sat beside Deanna

“Who could she be among them.. none of the faces here are familiar” Ann thought squinting her eyes as she kept staring

After some minutes, fifteen people were interviewed already and none passed

Deanna was so strict in the selection and Claribel only watched

“Next..” Ann said and a lady on short, long sleeved gown came next

She bowed in greetings, and kept staring at Claribel

“Your name..?” Deanna asked and she replied quickly

“Natalie Klein”

Ann smiled immediately

“Cathy…” She whispered in excitement and the lady secretly winked at her

The interview session with her begun immediately and Ann kept hoping she passes.. Deanna can’t be predicted, she chose to handle the interview session herself since she was around.. coincidentally

Dylan’s car drove in almost immediately and Andrea was the first to highlight as usual

“Mum!” She screamed excitingly, rushing to Claribel as Claribel advanced towards her

All attention was diverted to them

She giggled as she jumped into her arms.. Claribel smiled stroking her hair

Dylan got down also and looked around with a blank expression

Deanna smiled satisfactorily

“Congratulations, you passed the first stage” She said and Ann’s heart leapt for joy

“Everyone should dismiss now.. no hiring of any maid!” Dylan said loudly and Ann gasped

Deanna stared at him in shock and Claribel slowly dropped Andrea… the crowd murmured all sorts

“Dylan, Ann reported that a maid resigned recently and needs a replacement…” Deanna said

Ann’s gaze landed fearfully on Cathy who let out a deep sigh

Dylan scoffed

“We have numerous of maids to replace her.. cancel the interview!” He said again

“Dylan..!!”

“We have numerous of maids to replace her.. cancel the interview!” He said again

“Dylan..!!” Deanna called taking a swift glance at the crowd before diverting her gaze back to him.. She opened her mouth to speak but Andrea beat her to it

“Dad, it will be very wrong to cancel it cuz, these people have definitely been here for hours, you won’t want to hurt their feelings too, we’re all humans!” She said confidently, talking like an adult

“Mum.. Talk to dad” she added, turning to Claribel who gulped down nothing, biting her lower lip

Her voice was loud and the crowd definitely heard her statement

‘Mum..’

?Is Dylan married?

?I know he has a daughter.. but who’s that lady?

?His daughter calls her mum!

? My granny told me he lost his wife six years ago… She’s definitely not the little girl’s mum

?she’s pretty

? That should be Deanna, his childhood friend

?Maybe he married her recently, I’ve never seen her with him though

?They look so cute

The crowd kept mumbling all sorts, staring at Claribel with different thoughts running across their minds

“I will not go back on my words!” Dylan said authoritatively and Deanna scoffed with a glare

She stood up and pulled his hand, dragging him into the mansion

“Go take shower, you need it urgently” she ordered and he stared at her with a scoff

“Like seriously..?”

“Let the interview continue” Deanna smiled broadly and Ann heaved a deep sigh in relief

Natalie smiled satisfactorily

“Congrats, you just passed the first stage, prepare for the practical stage” Ann said with a smug smile and Natalie nodded with a slight bow before returning to her previous position

“Next…”

The interview continued and after a long time, Deanna suddenly felt nauseous, she started feeling dizzy and felt like vomiting

The weird feeling was really unexplainable

She covered her mouth with her right palm and stood up immediately, running inside the mansion.. heading to the nearest bathroom

Everyone looked at her in surprise, Andrea was confused.. She changed into a random wear and has eaten already

Claribel ran after her immediately in worry

“Lady Deanna?” She called, watching her rinse her face with the running tap, breathing heavily

“Are you okay..” she said again and Deanna sighed

“I feel sick, guess I need to take some rest” she said weakly

“You need to go to the hospital right”

“Maybe”

She walked slowly out of the bathroom, flushing the toilet

Claribel stared at her suspiciously

” Guess you are pregnant…”

Granny Teresa’s House..

“Why don’t we take a stroll” Jessica suggested and Harold’s face lightened up

“Oh really.. just the both of us” he flashed a smile

Teresa was knitting as usual, while Paisley’s eyes was glued to the book she was reading..

It’s a cooking book where she learns how to make and bake varieties of delicacies and snacks

The teens were bored and showed no sign of interest in the Kdrama series that was being displayed on the television

“Do I need to get changed?” Harold asked staring at himself

Jessica shook her head sideways

“Of course not.. you look cute in this”

She said, adjusting her skirt

Harold heart raced

“She just told me I’m cute!!” His mind screamed excitingly

“Mum.. Granny, we’ll be back before dinner” Jessie said with pleading eyes

Teresa nodded slowly

“Alright, but please help with some carrots at the the grocery store on your way back” She said

“Get some money from the desk in the room” Paisley said also

Jessie nodded, pecking her mum’s cheek

“Bye..” she said and entered the room to get the notes

She came out few seconds later and left with Harold

Teresa heaved a deep breath

“They’re are still young.. Yunno” she said

Paisley nodded slowly

“We can’t be so sure though..” she shrugged

“I never knew this street is this beautiful” Jessica squealed after few minutes of walking.. She couldn’t help admiring everything

Harold smirked

“Cuz you’ve never for once tried looking around”

“I know right..” She rolled her eyes and he laughed

“I’m glad you’ve stopped being a cry baby”. He changed the topic and she sighed

“Ion wanna remember such memories okay.. I’m trying to be fine” she said and he nodded

“I’m sorry”

“Fine.. jerk”

“You talked about being bullied in school..who did that” he said

“I wasn’t bullied though, I was only threatened by your pathetic crush, Simpson” she scoffed

Harold furrowed his brows

“I have a lot of girls crushing on me, she’s one of the desperate ones” he said proudly

“Not like you’re cute”

“You said that yourself before we left” he smiled and she rolled her eyes again

“I wonder who deserves the eyes rolling award, you or my sister” he said and they both laughed

Harold stylishly took her palms in his, holding her hand before she could do or say anything.. holding her firmly

Jessica turned to him surprisingly, trying to remove her hand from his, he held it more tightly and winked.. she looked away immediately, flashing a secret smile as her cheeks heated up

“Geez..!”
