NORA
I was up in my room that evening when I suddenly received a call from an unknown ID.
I stared at the caller with a furrowed brow. Wondering who it could be before picking up.
? Hello, who’s this?” I asked
?Nora…
A teary voice broke out. A familiar Male voice rather.
?Nora can you come over?
*He sniffled*
? Oh God oscar? Is that you?
? Yes it’s me. Come over please
His voice shaky and so messed. I wonder what the problem could be.
? Have you been crying?
I couldn’t stop myself from asking. His voice alone could attest to it.
He sniffled suddenly, giving me the right answer to my question.
? I’ll be there in a moment”
With that, I hunged up.
My heart was pounding so fast and loud now. I’m so troubled and messed up with the thought of his problem.
Hope he’s in a good shape. I thought within as I pulled into a short Jean and a plain top.
His place is a bit far from here and I wonder why he needed me at the moment. It’s a bit late in the evening.
Ever since Alicia broke his heart, I’ve been worried sick about him. The thought of him hurting himself gets me scared as hell
Even when he acts to be fine anytime I visit, I know deep down he isn’t alright. He’s trying so hard to put it all up as a man.
I hurried out of the room and met Alicia sitted with a popcorn as she settled her eyes on the TV screen.
“Dressed up ? Where to? she asked.
I simply can’t tell her I’m off to see her ex lover can I? I Definitely can’t!
“An urgent errand. Be right back” I replied in a haste picking up the car key.
I don’t intend to take long. I thought within as I walked out of the house.
Minutes later•••••
I walked into Oscar’s apartment to meet it in a big mess.
What the…??
I gawked in suprise as I stared at the empty bottles of liquor littered on the ground.
Has he been drinking?
“Oscar?” I called out
“Nora. I’m right here” I heard his faint voice calling out from a close corner.
I walked over to see him huddled up with a bottle in his hand which he was obviously drinking from.
“What are you doing to yourself Oscar?”
I snatched the bottle from him..
“Nora I can’t help it” he broke in tears.
It’s Alicia. Isn’t it?
I felt hurt immediately. It hurts so much to know he still has something for her.
It makes me feel utterly bad
“Don’t get all down because of her Oscar. She has moved on with her life. I guess you probably should” I said the fact.
Cupping his face into my palms as I looked straight into his cold hurting eyes.
“You don’t have to punish yourself. It’s her loss anyway. Who in her right senses would turn down a fine caring man like you?”
I tipped out.
I definitely won’t!
If I was to be in Alicia’s shoes, I would never have done a thing to hurt him
“Why do I have the feeling I’m the one at loss here?”
“Maybe that’s what you chose to believe. As for me, I think Alicia is the one at loss. Not you” I answered truthfully.
“If it was you, would you have done same thing she did?” He asked again..
If only he knew I would never think to hurt or even do a thing to hurt him.
“No” I replied.
“Thank you” he faintly smiled at my response.
“And I’m sorry for dragging you all the way here. I don’t mean to be selfish”
“It’s okay Oscar. What are friends for? I got your back okay.
I’m always here for you” with that, I pulled him into a warm embrace..
He cuddled his hands like a baby around me and the feeling caused a warmth in me.
“Thank you Nora” he whispered smoothly into my ears before breaking from my arms.
“Go freshen up while I take care of this mess.. you’ll be alright. Just get some rest” I added helping him up to his feet.
He staggered soberly before giving a nod.
” Thanks again Nora” he added before walking out.
Don’t thank me Oscar.
All I want is your happiness ?
DAVID
I drove back home after my brief talk with Mike. I should really stick to his advice.
It’s no doubt I’m slowly falling for Ana and it’s best I let her know now.
I thought within as I hopped out of my car. I walked inside and met my kids watching their favorite cartoon series.
“Welcome dad” they chorused.
I gave a slight nod before asking the main question.
“Where’s Ana?”
“In her room” Noel replied. Still focused on the TV.
“Okay” I breathe out as I took brisk steps towards her room.
ROSIANA
I stared continously at my phone wondering how I’m gonna tell this to David.
I feel so nervous and I don’t know what would be his reaction towards it.
I bit hard on my lip finding everything so clueless.
It shouldn’t be so hard to tell him anyway… He doesn’t.—
The door suddenly opened revealing David as he walked in..
Perfect timing!
“You’re back” I smiled, feeling an unusual happiness in me to see him.
I was feeling excited to see him. I guess that’s part of living in same roof.
“Yeah. Just came back” he nodded.
” I wanted to see you Ana” he added
“Me too David. I want to tell you something” I chirped in.
“Really? What is it then? ” He asked nudging me to say it out.
I hope this comes out smooth and clear.
I breathe out nervously as I rode out the words.
“I have a date tomorrow with Mike”
His eyes frozed on me for some minutes without saying a word.
He looks suprised.
I just hope he isn’t pissed about it..
“He asked you out?” He finally spoke out
“Yes. A friendly date. That’s all”
He nodded. A sudden change in his countenance.
“What Time?”
“Six pm” I replied
“Okay. No problem” he retorted, then turned to leave.
“Uhm David. ” I called out, stopping his movement.
“Yes?” He turned to face me.. his countenance so blurred.
“You wanted to tell me something?” I reminded.
“Oh. That! Nevermind. It’s nothing. No longer important” he replied, walking out as he shut the door from behind.
I stared blankly at the door..
Why do I feel like I just hurt his feelings?
