CHAPTER 36

Maxwell stylishly removed her hand from his hair and stood.

“I have to go now, can’t get my family and friends worried” he said.

“Oh! Sure I’ll drive you home!” She quickly stood too and took his arm.

She hung it on her neck and started guiding him out as he limped.

“I can walk on my own” he said.

“I can’t let you, you might fall” she replied, and he relented, letting her take him till they got to her car.

She drove him out of the hospital, and the remaining minutes of the drive was silent, till they’re almost at his place.

“You might wanna come be my manager whenever you’re ok” she finally spoke.

“Manager?” He asked, and she pulled up in front of his place.

She brought out a card and handed it to him.

“Anytime you think about working as my manager, just come to R Holdings with that, you’d be allowed into my office” she said, and he sighed before looking at her.

“Don’t even say no” she said, and he smiled dryly.

“By the way, why did you come to Jemima’s mansion earlier?” He asked.

“Oh, wanted to tell her something confidential , but don’t worry, I can always see her later” she smiled, and he nodded before trying to get out of the car, but it was so difficult cos of his legs

Sloane quickly got out of the car from the other side and rushed to him, helping him down.

“You sure you don’t need crutches?” She asked.

“I don’t like it, I can manage on my own till it gets better” he replied.

“I’ll call you when I get home” she smiled.

“You don’t have to” he replied.

“I will” she said, and he looked at her.

“Take care of yourself” she said, and before he knew it, she stepped closer and gave him a peck on the cheek.

“Miss Sloane” he muttered, and she smiled.

“Goodnight” she said and got back into her car, driving off.

Maxwell limped into the house, and surprisingly, the lights are off, making him wonder why.

“Is there no one at home?” He muttered.

He began searching for the switch, but a little before he’d locate it, the lights suddenly came on, accompanied with shinny confetti which poured on his head from above, then he saw a blue cake sitting on the center table.

“Happy 1M followers!” Cypress and Warren finally came out of their corners.

Warren was holding a crown, but immediately they saw Maxwell’s condition, the crown fell from him, and Cypress’s shoulders dropped.

“Mell what the h’ll!” She screamed.

“Oh my friend! What happened to you!”Warren ran to hold him.

“Treasure! What happened?” Granny Suzy came out too, and her eyes widened.

“Oh my goodness! What’s this? What happened? I mean… what…my baby!!!” She shouted as Warren made him sit on the couch.

“Tell us in details” Cypress said beside him.

“There’s nothing to say” Maxwell replied.

“Shut up and talk!!!” Warren and Cypress chorused, and his eyes widened as he turned to Warren, then to Cypress.

“Who did this to you? Was it hit and run? Did thugs attack you? Tell me what happened before I lose my whole damn temper!” She shouted angrily.

“My baby!! We were planning to celebrate your 1M followers, and now this?

You’re totally wrecked! What are these wounds! What’s with the bandage!!!” Granny cried like a child.

“Is it your boss?” Warren asked calmly, and Maxwell stood with difficulty.

“It’s nothing, granny I’ll be fine, so cheer up” he said grimly and went in.

He sat on his working chair and met his dinner waiting on the dinning table.

He prefers eating in his room whenever he eats late, and that’s why granny takes her time to bring his food here.

He opened it and met chicken and cheese with Italian sausage, granny’s speciality.

He smiled as he picked a chicken and took a bite, then he got his phone.

His eyes widened when he saw ten missed calls from from Frances!

“Fk! The outing!” He gasped, and his head banged immediately.

The chicken fell from his hand, and he held the head tightly as it continued banging.

“Now I can’t even talk loudly?” He muttered, holding it still.

He suddenly remembered when Jemima ran into the rain with him the other time, and he stayed still for a while, then his phone rang.
