Chapter 13
The following day, Cora was walking towards the class when she sees Cassie carrying few cartons containing new delivered books.
“Cassie”. Cora calls and walks up to her smiling.
“Co…ra”.
“Where are you taking these to”. She asked with a smile.
“To the library, the book shop lady said I should take it to the library, and arrange them in the shelves.”
“Huh,,,why will she ask you to do that, is not your job”.
“Am her assistant Cora,,,she pays too, for every job I do”.
“Then let help you Carry some of this”.
“Is okay Cora, you don’t have”.
“I insist Cassie”. Cora said and takes some of the cartons of books from her.
“So let go”. Cora said smiling.
Cassie looks at her and nods her head.
And both headed for the library.
When they got to the library, Cora also assisted her in arranging the books in the shieves.
“Thanks Cora for helping me out”.
“Is nothing Cassie, according to what I Clark told me, I did a lot of horrible things to you, let just say am repaying all of this”.
“You have really changed Cora, I wish you can remain like this”. Cassie said.
And Cora smiles.
“Clark said you are an orphan”.
“Yes I am Cora, I lost my parents when I was 16, I also had a brother too, but he died too”.
“Am sorry about Cassie”.
“Is fine Cora, am already getting used to it anyway”.
“But how come you go to Genie high, from what I know is expensive”.
“Ryan helped me out,,,,I was given a scholarship her in Genie high, thanks to him,,,and I also do part time jobs during the weekends”.
“That so kind of Ryan,,,and you what I feel like am like you Cassie”.
“How Cora”.
“Well,,, being an orphan,,,and also struggling to survive”.
“Those hunches of yours are not true Cora, because all your life, you have lives in luxury, I guess that why you became a cold spoit brat”.
“I guess you are right”. Cora said.
And both laugh, and then the school bell rang.
“Is time for class Cora, we should be going now”.
“Cassie,,,can we be friends from now on”.
“You Want to be a Friend to me”.
And Cora nods.
“Okay Cora”.
Cora smiles and held her hand.
“Let go to class together”.
Cassie nods with a smile, and both leaves the library.
On getting to the class, the homeroom teacher was already inside the classroom.
“Cora,, Cassie”. She calls in surprised when she sees both of them holding hands.
“Sorry we are late ma”. Cora apologize.
“No,,is fine, am just surprised to see the both of you together, from what I knew before, Cassie is your big time enemy”.
“Not anymore ma, because Cassie and I are now friends, right Cassie”. Cora asked looking at Cassie and Cassie nods with a smile.
“That good to hear, am glad you are changing alot Cora,,,you both should have your seats, I was about to announce something”.
Cora and Cassie nods and went to their difference seat.
“So you are Cora are friends”. Ryan asked when Cassie sits beside him.
“She asked me to be her friend Ryan, and I have no choice but to agree to it,,,,I saw you both yesterday Ryan, why didn’t you tell me you both are now friends”.
“Sorry about that Cassie”.
“Is fine Ryan,,,,,and I think I like the new Cora, she even helped me at the library”. Cassie said.
Ryan looks at Cora and smiles.
“Okay students listen up’. The homeroom teacher said bringing back Ryan’s gaze from Cora to hers.
“The school has decided that you take a break from school, and go on a summer camping”.
And there was a loud shout from the students, some began hitting the table while some began to sing.
?Is summer break,,is summer break, we are going for camping,,is summer break, we are going for camping, is summer break ?
And some began to dance to the beating of the tables sounds, and Cora just watch, Wondering why they were so happy.
Cora taps Clark and Clark looks at her.
“Why are they so happy about the summer break stuff”.
“Because the students get to be free from school activities, and go for camping”.
And Cora nods and smiles looking at the students who keeps singing dancing and hitting their tables.
The homeroom teacher sighs and said.
“If this continues, I might just ask the school din to cancel the summer camping”.
And the students immediately became calm.
“So ma, where are we going for summer camping”. Dahlia asked.
“Muuido camping island”. The homeroom teacher answers.
And the students screams in excitement mumuring to one another.
“Can at least say something”. The homeroom teacher said.
And the students became quiet, since they didn’t want the summer camping break to be cancelled.
“The summer break we only last for Two days and a night,,so if you want to go to the muuido camping island, you can go the principal to write down your name, but if you don’t want to go, you can as well have your summer breaks anywhere you want, as long as you come back when school finally resumes understand”.
“We do ma”. The students chorus at once.
“That good to know, classes ends after today’s lectures so get ready for your two days summer breaks”. The homeroom teacher said and leaves.
Immediately she leaves, the students jumps up in excitement, dicussing what they are going to wear during the trip.
Audrey sighs and looks at Clark.
“I guess you won’t go this time”.
“Why”. Cora asked looking at Clark.
“Clark is allergy to water waves”. Audrey answers turning to face Cora.
“I don’t understand Audrey”.
“I can’t be near a swimming pool, beaches, rivers or lakes,it will be difficult for me to breath when I do”.
“Sorry about that Clark”.
“Is fine Cora, you can enjoy the summer break with Audrey, I will just go home during the two days summer break”. Clark said.
Cora sighs and looks towards Ryan’s direction and he was busy talking to Cassie, and somehow she didn’t feel happy about it.
“You of all people are going to join in the camping”. Cassie asked in disbelief.
“Yes Cassie, is cool to sometimes participate in school activities”.
“Says the guy who Doesn’t get along with everyone”.
Ryan chuckles and said.
“You are going to right”.
“Since you are going then am going to”. Cassie said and giggles.
Ryan smiles and looks at Cora.
*I hope she is going to*. He muttered inwardly and continues looking at Cora who was T-chatting with Audrey and Clark, and when she laugh to the discussion they were having, Ryan smiles.
