Chapter 37

Well, he obviously doesn’t and he thanked his stars for the period of time he spent learning the shorthand method of writing with his friend and practicing it even though it is no longer a marketable skill.

“Strange write up. I repeat, you won’t get a chance even if you want to escape. Rewrite those words in English let me see and watch you share it, now!” Mr Smith said suspiciously.

“Alright! You don’t trust me at all! What is the essence of sparing me to make this deal? Let’s just get this over with and end anything between us!” Fred shook his head.

“Write the text in English, I’m waiting” Mr Smith repeated.

“That is good to make an anthem for your organization. I need treatment for all these bruises your men inflicted on me. Is that also too much?” Fred wanted to buy time. He hopes Tony, his best friend, sees the text and helps him out

He does not trust whatever this man is saying about setting him free after he returns all the evidences to him. He would rather dine with his enemy than trust his shadow, talk more of a bigger enemy? Not advisable.

Tyler pulled over and helped Molly come down from the car. He took her hand and led her to the river.

“So peaceful here,” she said and smiled at him, he knows exactly what she needs for the mood she is in.

“Yes, that is true. Look at that house over there, that is where I go whenever I feel lonely. You won’t believe it Molly, but I have to tell you about it anyway,” He said, pointing at the wrecked house far beside the river bank.

“Tell me, what is life like to be a heir?” Molly demanded.

“That is what I was about telling you. I envy you, Molly. Life is h’ll being told what to do, how to live yourself, what steps to take, people making decisions for you and your every movement being monitored…” he trailed off sadly.

“How can you envy me? I mean, I have always wished to be like you, or Sophia. She was really nice to me, and we grew up together and she sacrificed a lot for me on our journey to adolescence. I really miss her” Molly shook her head.

“You can’t be sad here. Sorry that I started such a conversation, let us go fish, I had kept a fishing net and hook there that I use on each of my visits” he changed the subject.

“Yeah, right!” She pushed her thoughts aside and went on to enjoy the vast experience she is about to have.

“Can I dip my legs into the river? Is it safe?” She asked curiously as they stopped to have a closer look at the water.

“Yes, it is clean and free of dangerous insects,” he chuckled softly.

She sat down on the floor without minding her school uniform and thrust her legs into the water. “More refreshing than pool water” she murmured.

“Yes. You might catch a chill. Here…this will help” he removed his school jacket and covered her.

No one has ever treated her like that. Like caring about if she was going to get cold even in the snow, or being so nice and gentle. Her parents try their best to send her to school, so they barely spend time together after her father drops her off at school and she can’t blame them.

She has not been into a relationship before. She usually declines because her parents made it sure to her that if she fails them, they will disown her and they told her no boyfriend until she graduates from high school and college if possible, but looking at Tyler now, she doesn’t give a damn if she fails them.

“About what you were saying earlier… Do you really mean that you are more like a puppet in your own family?” She asked curiously.

“I’m a puppet, not more like it. My grandparents say what happens in everyone’s life so long as you are a member of my family. They don’t even let my father be the head of his own family, because they say he was not too rich when he married their daughter,” he replied.

“About what you said to me and in front of the other students… how serious were you?” She waited for a reply anxiously.

“Molly, I don’t know how to make you believe that I love you, I truly love you with all my heart. I was afraid from the very beginning because I knew everything about your background and my grandparents will interfere with my life as usual, so I didn’t want to hurt you” he answered sincerely.

“Tyler, I love you too. I have always loved you from that day I ran into you at Sophia’s 8th birthday party, but I was afraid too. I believed that rich people are meant for rich people and you wouldn’t want anything that is beneath your status. I also thought you were into Sophia, so I stayed away until we meet again in school” she confessed.

“Can you give me an answer to the question I asked back…”

“Remind me of the question again” she smiled up at him.

“Will you be my girl?” He asked.

“Yes, Tyler, I will. It is a dream come true” she replied happily. He helped her stand up and hugged her tightly.

“Thank you so much for this, you will never regret it” he said.

“I pray so. Kss me already!” She laughed.

He did. They were lost in their new world when a voice interrupted.

“What nonsense! Two students making out in broad daylight even in school uniforms at a god-dmned school hour?!” The voice hushed and they split apart grasping.

“Enemy of progress!” Tyler muttered and Molly laughed.

“Oh! I’m an enemy of progress, huh? Humph… this teens… so you are progressing on someone’s daughter? I see,” the intruder exclaimed.

“Well, we are sorry for trespassing…”

“Why are you apologizing to him? He just ruined the best moment of my life! Let us go somewhere else, Molly,” he took her hand, but she pulled away.

“I love it here. Mister, I hope you can just go and leave us alone, please?” She pleaded with a bow.

“Whatever! Just don’t come near that building, enjoy yourselves and get going. I hate naughty school girls and arrogant school boys! Disgusting!!” The intruder said and hurried away.

“That still doesn’t sound pleasing, I was thinking we would fish and all the fishing items are in that place he is restricting us from. What do we do now?” Tyler asked.

“Don’t worry, let us just cuddle and feel our hearts beating as one. You and me together is all I would ever ask for, so stop with the gloomy face!” She tried a joke.

Justin and Alex planned to leave the guards behind. They drove off immediately they got into a taxi. The guards entered another cab and tried following them, but they were able to escape when they came down from the taxi and entered a bus.

Justin knew that the guards will keep looking for them until they meet again. It is only a dead wish for them to go back to his mother without him or any tangible reason why they allowed him get away.

He cared less about them when the military zone came to sight. The only that mattered to him was finding Sophia and making things right.

“You are not planning to climb up and go inside, are you?” Alex asked worried sick about Justin.

He showed Justin the place Sophia climbed that night at the back of the military base. They were not able to see her, so they are saddened.

“Are you sure you don’t have a clue of what really happened out here? I mean, I know she has many enemies especially among the girls” Justin asked for the third time.

Alex has told him that he doesn’t have a clue what happened to her because he was busy executing his own mission and was stupid in failing to protect her.

“Well… the only thing I know is that I saw Gena follow her and she doesn’t seem to know. But I didn’t mind her because I thought she wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize the mission and she denied doing anything to her to my face” Alex explained.

Justin rapidly climbed the wall up and looked inside the military zone. Alex did the same and they saw nothing suspicious inside that tells the military to have someone with them.

“If they caught someone alive, I think they will be punishing the person somewhere to get information out of the person and they must have gotten some since yesterday night and would be preparing to head out” Alex confirmed after watching the soldiers for a while.

“Yeah, they seem normal and unperturbed, just going on their usual routine with just a little ease and at alert to avoid being caught off guard again.

“If Sophia was shot by the soldiers just like I guess Celina must have been shot too, their corpses are already thrown away. But if she was shot from behind by the following enemy, she is likely to fall at the back of the building which is just where we were standing” Alex observed.

“So what is your suggestion?” Justin asked and jumped down from the wall, Alex followed him too.

“Like I said, if it was Gena’s handwork, then she must have fallen here. Let me check for signs” Alex said and examined the area.

He found what he was looking for and told Justin that someone must have taken her either dead or alive away. And the problem is who took her and where he or she took her.

“If someone really took her, then she must be alive. We must find her, Alex,” He said hopefully.

“We can only hope and pray. Let’s go!” Alex took him to their car and told the driver to drive gently around and stop at every hospital or local clinic.

“Well, that is a good place to start. I’m glad you came, Alex. I am a coward, what could I have done without you?” Justin said appreciatively.

“I loved her too, this is the only way I can help her and I know she is safer with someone who truly loves her and she loves the person too. And I happen to know that that person is you,” Alex smiled at him.

“Thank you” Justin tapped his shoulder fondly.

“It is going to rain heavily soon, we have to cover at least seven hospitals before it starts raining and we also need shelter” Alex realized beforehand.

“You have the best observant eyes” Justin chuckled.

Frederick couldn’t believe Mr Smith was such a dummy, the man already believes he is the winner and Fred cannot do anything stupid.

He told the driver to stop by a nearby pharmacy and get him drugs and he said it is to show him how much he really wants him to close the case and end the investigation.

Fred smiled to himself and just prayed that his friend got the message he sent and brought the military to intercede to set him free and catch the man.

“What is keeping him inside there?” Mr Smith asked and took another glance at his wristwatch.

“Must be crowded inside,” Lee offered from the front seat.

Flying Dragon ran towards the car immediately with a plastic bag that must contain the medicine. He opened the third seat where Fred shared with Mr. Smith to give them the medicine because there was a barrier between each of the seats.

Fred knew that was a golden opportunity. Even if his friend doesn’t show up, he has to escape anyhow. He made a promise and he has experienced worse treatment before. It is better he die trying than live to regret never trying at all.

He kicked Flying Dragon and pushed himself through the door and fell out. Gvnshots accompanied him as he lunged for the sidewalk and ducked into the first street.

He was aware they were chasing him, so he didn’t stop even when he heard other gvnshots that must have come from the cops.

“Get in, Buddy!” He heard his best friend call and he dashed into his car and he sped off with tyre screeching speed.

“Thanks, man. I didn’t know you saw the message” he grasped.

“I did, I was waiting for a perfect time and also waiting for the cops. And your timing was so dmn splendid!” His friend laughed.

“I pray the cops catch that bea$t!” Fred cvrsed.

“Angelina called me, she sounds worried and I didn’t know what to tell her”

“It is not safe here again. I know what to do, help me book an evening flight to Florida. I miss her and I need to see her”

“Call her and let her know that you are safe for now, she might develop a heart attack since last night” Ben advised his friend.

“No, I want to surprise her. Ben, just do me a little favor. I think you should keep those documents, no one is looking your way, I will wait for everything to die down and I shall come back to pay him in his own coins when I feel the time is right” Fred requested.

“No problem, I will keep it. Let me call someone at the airport for reservations. You can stay in my house for the meantime” Ben smiled.

He took him to his house. He bathed, ate and rested his head. When he woke up, it was late in the evening and Ben informed him that his flight was booked for six o’clock.

He dressed up and was on his way out when the police phoned them to tell her that they were not able to capture the man.

“He is the most coy, I know they will let him escape,” Fred muttered.

“Hop in, I will drop you off at the airport. We know the cops are not competent enough to chain that man, even if they do, he will buy his way out and no one will question that. It is better this way, you will surprise him” Ben said thoughtfully.

“If possible, help me tow my car from the Mountains Hotel’s parking lot, but don’t go there on your own, get people to do that so as not to arouse suspicions on yourself and put your life in danger” Fred requested.

“Alright, I will do just that,” Ben nodded and gave him a friendly hug.

Fred entered the car and Ben drove out to the airport.
