Chapter 40
West blocked Sophia’s path in an attempt to stop her, she had refused to stop walking so they could talk.
“What do you know about me? What exactly do you want from me? You think you have the right to make decisions for me because you saved me? Fine, do you want a pay back? Tell me what you want and I will do it so you would leave me the h’ll alone!” Sophia yelled at him.
“Sophia, calm down! At least I know now that your life is a mess and all I want is to fix it for you! I don’t have any right to make decisions for you, but I want to give you an opportunity to kll the dmons haunting your dreams!” West replied hotly.
“What are you talking about?” She asked quietly.
“I read the news about your parents and I saw the sèx video. You want to know who I am, right? All I have to tell you is that I am someone Mr Smith hurt, he is an enemy I can’t get close to, that’s why I need you.” West confessed.
“What makes you think I will help you? Now I get it, you were actually following me and that’s why you…”
“I was lucky to get the opportunity to save you. I didn’t mean for that to happen, but I’m glad everything turned out like that, the heavens actually favoured me. You are close to Mrs Smith and her son, that’s enough to get Mr Smith” he interrupted.
“Look… I’m still confused. How… When did you start stalking me? I almost believed your saving me was a coincidence!” She said drastically.
“If you go with me, I promise to tell you everything and how I plan to defeat that eviI man”
“It doesn’t look like you left a room for another choice. I would like to see what you have in mind and how I fit into your plans” she shook her head.
“Good, let’s go, my men are waiting,”
His men? Well, she can’t wait to meet those he called his men. Sophia was dumbfounded to see that he owns a private jet as he took her to the airport.
Seven men stood on guard in black suits round the jet. She was hesitant about following him to the plane. What if he was actually sent by Mr. Smith to capture her? What if he is one of the enemies?
“Trust me, Sophia. I am not what you think of me, I won’t harm you. Come on, let’s go. We don’t have much time” he took her hand and led her into the jet.
Sixty minutes on air, and the jet landed on another beautiful airport. Sophia wasn’t much aware of her environment, she didn’t care how amazing everything looked, but the guy next to her is what her mind revolves around.
“Where are we going now?” She finally said something since she got into the plane. She could’ve asked him this question before entering the plane.
“You will find out soon,” West assured her. He helped her come down from the plane. A car was already waiting for them. The car drove off immediately West and Sophia got in.
When they stepped down from the car as it stopped in front of a beautiful mansion. Sophia gaped at the house, when she recollected herself, she raised an inquisitive brow at West.
“Welcome to my house, Sophia. Don’t look at me like that, let’s go inside.” He had to hold her hand so she would follow up.
Her knees buckled. Who is this guy? “Wait, are you trying to tell me that this is your house? Are you this rich? Don’t tell me you own that jet!” She exclaimed.
West smiled at her. “I have what it takes to defeat Mr. Smith, all I need is your connection with his family. If you accept to work together with me, he will soon land in jail for everything he has been doing”
“I’m kinda confused. He doesn’t look like someone that cares about his ex-wife or son,” Sophia shrugged.
“Be my wife, Sophia. Inherit all this wealth by marriage, let me bless you, and you will never regret accepting to be mine. We will be stronger as one, don’t say no,” he said, staring into her eyes.
Sophia staggered backwards in shock. Her breath ceased and her brain shut down. She looked as dazed as someone that was electrocuted. Yes, she just survived an electric shock.

Molly sat in Tyler’s car staring at space. She didn’t know the car was no longer moving, and that the driver was looking at her worriedly.
Tyler turned her face so she would look at him. “What happened to her…” he trailed off. He cleared his throat and completed the sentence. “It wasn’t your fault. It wasn’t anyone’s fault, not even hers or her parents. Sometimes, life can be so cruel”
Molly’s eyes shifted to stare at him. She wasn’t being fair to this guy. He had taken her out for the first time to a place he fancies, and she let herself be drawn away by what happened.
“If I did see Justin again after that night, I would’ve punched him in the face. I didn’t know he was capable of that, I read in the papers that his father has taken over Sophia’s parent’s properties. I regret being friends with those three”
“I’m sorry, Tyl. The date ended like this because of me,” Molly found her voice.
“No, if I were you, I would have done more than end the date. Don’t think much about it. I know Sophia is a strong girl, she can pull through. You don’t have to worry about her” Tyler advised.
Molly smiled at him. She was really wrong about him. Tyler is a very good looking and nice guy, she noticed from her first day meeting him, but he covers his attitude very well especially when he is mingling with rich people like him.
She didn’t ever think he would find her attractive. There are many girls that befit his status, but she still can’t get over the fact that he chose her over them.
“Can I go inside with you?” He asked, looking over her head to the front door. There seemed to be no one at home. He could make it up to her if she let him.
Molly’s head became muddled. That’s an impossible task! He would see her tattered room full of the caricatures she pasted on the walls to mock him.
No one in her house understands those rubbish paintings of a wretched, young and naive school girl crushing on one of the top five richest kids in W/R international.
“I… You… I’m sorry, you can’t go in now. The house is unkept. Thanks for today!” She jumped down from the car immediately and ran inside.
Tyler shook his head and started his car to drive away, but he saw her schoolbag in the backseat. He smiled. “This is a good reason to go there!”
He took the bag, came down from the car and walked to the front door. He knocked, maybe she didn’t know it was him, the door swung open immediately and they gazed into each other’s eyes.
He lifted the bag to her face and chuckled. “You forgot this, I had to bring it.”
She reached to snatch it from him, but he pushed himself inside. Molly watched his expressionless face and knew he wouldn’t ever stand to date someone from the gutters.

Justin glared at the men and asked them where exactly they were taking them. They have been walking around for hours and they keep saying they are near to the place Sophia is, but they never got there until he became dizzy from all the stress.
“I think we should go back. These men are not leading us anywhere. I’m tired of walking around” Alex muttered.
“We are sorry, you can’t go anywhere!” One of the men said as some other men surrounded the two of them.
They had led them into an alley and now the two of them look like people in a trance.
“Come on, what’s this about? If you need money, we can give you all we have,” Alex started.
Justin was too angry to say a word. He knew that if he should speak to them, he would pvnch someone’s face and put them in more danger.
“Do we look like beggars to you?” One of them commented.
“Don’t worry, you will be safe. My men have already carried your bags and other stuff from the hotel. Just follow us and don’t fight, you can’t win anyway” The second man said and turned to his men, “Seeing that they don’t have a chance of winning, take them into the car now!” The second man put in as they dragged them into a car parked nearby.
“Why are you doing this? What did we do to you guys? Did someone send you to do this?” Alex refused to keep quiet.
Justin fought his anger. If he bursts, they will hate him. He hates himself anyway, so it won’t have any issue with him. The car drove down the alley to an unknown destination.

West and Sophia stepped out of his car in uniform as man and wife. He smiled at her and held her hand possessively. He can’t deny the fact that he is attracted to her and she saw he is making it obvious, otherwise, why would he be so confident that she would fall for him one day.
Sophia returned his smile. There’s no point fghting this guy, this might not be fate, but something brought them together and that is what she is determined to unravel.
“That’s the venue of the marriage. I did as you requested, a calm wedding with just a Reverend and two witnesses. Sophia, I promise you this… you will never regret making this decision,” he vowed and kssed the back of her hand.
She nodded. It felt like nothing was happening to her, even in dream or reality. She doesn’t even feel nervous and all the jingles that she is standing between torn and roses. She has two choices, wear the torn or grab the rose. Life is full of surprises. How would she know a day like this will ever come so soon.
She shut her eyes and imagined him to be Justin, and held his hand tightly as they walked to the secret garden where the Reverend and the two witnesses were already waiting for them.
They stood in front of the Reverend and faced each other to say their vows. Sophia found it hard to make those promises of eternity to a guy she feels nothing for, but she had to do the needful.
“…Till de.ath do us part.” She had looked up at him and saw the truth. Nothing will ever make her love this guy. Her heart is with her enemy and there’s nothing she can do about it. She’s lost.

They put a ring on it and sealed the vow. He kssed her as the Reverend said it was time for that, but it wasn’t as when Justin even stole a kss from her. She was just aware of a warm lip covering hers. She had moved away from him and forced a smile to her face as he kept grinning at her.

They didn’t plan for any honeymoon. They were to defeat their enemies together with their joined force and have honeymoons for the rest of their lives. He already mapped out their lives, but she knows that whatever plans he has for the future for them might not end as beautifully as he is imagining.

“The wedding party is set tonight. I didn’t invite a lot of people. We will take the jet back to America and stay close to our enemies. My men are also gathering information about Mr. Smith’s latest activity.” West said when they finally got into his car.
“Thank you” she whispered.
