THIRTY-NINE
RILEY
It was getting late when I ordered asian drink called soju for the four of us.
I cleared my throat before:
“I will help you”Daniel said pouring a drink for me,
“You don’t have to do that,
I’m leaving “Carson stood up against the drinks.
“Why?
I already paid for them! “I yelled but he didn’t want to listen to that as he came around to my side and grabbed my arm.
I wriggled a bit but he overpowered me.
“We’re leaving now! “He dragged me along with her.
He went to my car and dumped me into the driver seat.
He went round to the other side and came in banging it close afterwards.
“Drive! “He said loudly and I heaved.
I breathed hard looking back to the two of them who sat there looking towards my car.
“Carson I’m sorry he came… ”
“Its okay,
Let’s go to somewhere more bubbly than there “he said holding my hand.
I nodded,
“Okay “I concurred igniting the car engine and soon,
We zoomed off.
After thirty minutes,
He made me stop in front of a busy cheap restaurant filled with all kinds of people,
Sane and insane people,
Dirty and clean people,
Just all kinds of people filled the little restaurant.
“Is this where you want us to go to? “I asked as it seemed unreal to me until he climbed out of the car.
For Christ sake!
Its so cheap for me!
He should’ve told me earlier and I would’ve rented it before now.
Why here of all the places around?
I climbed out of the car,
“Are you sure about this Carson? “I asked as he grabbed my arm walking our way into the restaurant.
Almost everyone pushed into me staining my dress!
Gosh!
Someone pushed into me and I managed to balance myself until we came in.
Fighting for space was the new problem.
I rolled my eyes looking at him.
“Trust me,
You will like here soon”he assured me but I didn’t want that.
Eating in a local and cheap restaurant and then with all these cheap human beings is so new to me.
And the noise is so deafening!!
Never seen or went to a noisy and stuffy restaurant like this!
And he’s talking of liking it, how?
“Wow!
My favorite spot!!
Over there”he yelled happily pointing to a reserved area and then pulled me to that area.
He sat me down and then beamed before sitting down opposite mine.
“Carson… “I called covering my nose… The whole place is so stuffed with smokes.
I never knew there were bad areas like this in America.
I thought every part of this country have been developed.
Gosh!
“Yes??
Don’t worry,
Its going to be really cool”he winked at me and I shook my head.
“Let me send them away ”
“What? “He frowned at me,
“I mean all these people,
They’re making noise… Just a snap and they’re all gone! ”
He was silent.
“Why?
They’re couples too… Look around”he said pointing ahead of us,
I looked around and saw clearly that they were couples,
Guys, men held onto their women and girls smiling, laughing and feeding,
Even some were with families while some were with friends gathered around the table while some weren’t happy… Life was passing through them.
But what caught my fancy were those who were so happy with each other.
I didn’t stop looking at a guy who proposed to his girl quietly without a noise.
I smiled,
“And you still want to send them away?
How will they feel when you do that? “He asked me and I gulped.
Maybe I should manage,
I smirked.
“I wanted to make us comfortable ”
“I love it this way,
With you”he held my palm into his smiling.
“Let’s order for something “I suggested and he nodded.
He beckoned to the waiter who came to us,
Everything just stinks!
I have to compose myself cuz being here makes him happy.
“What would you like Riley? “He asked me and I smiled.
“Riley? “The waiter regarded me with his eyes.
He looked at me closely really surprised before he took off his glasses,
“Oh my gosh! “He gave a loud and deafening sound which got me covering my ears and making the whole place quiet.
“Dmn!
Look at Riley!!
The crazy dancer!!
The one who later lost her legs!! “He screamed and everyone gasped.
I turned to Carson.
“I told you about this”I whispered and he sighed.
I’m in trouble now especially when they began to cluster around me.
These locals will always be local!!

“Look!
Look at this brother!! “My sister Rudy yelled jumping into me,
She brought her phone to my face while I peered into it.
“What? “I asked as I looked at a live video of Carson and Riley… I think in our local restaurant probably out for a date.
“What about it? “I scoffed looking away from her phone and to mine.
“He’s dating Riley!
That rude pompous girl!
Can’t you listen to what she’s saying,
That they came out for a date! ”
I smirked bringing my gaze to her face again.
“Carson is in for a heartbreak cuz she’s rich, famous and talented and he’s got nothing to give her in return ”
She frowned at my reply.
“I don’t think so”
“You better do Rudy”
She scoffed.
“Well,
for now, am happy for him… Its not easy to get a celebrity as a girlfriend! ”
“Really? ”
“Yeah! “She hissed getting her phone and herself away from me and back to where she sat before.
Next day,

CARSON
I yawned before I felt a tap on my left leg.
“What is it? “I asked as my eyes came in contact with Ben.
”Whoa! You’re trending!!
Look”he sat down beside me and gave me his phone to read out a portion of the news,
*The fancy ballerina dates in a local restaurant.*
*She’s so shameful to have done that. *
*Why that low? *
*At her class… Oh no! Being a fancy ballerina have gotten into her head.*
*Fancy ballerina goes wild in a local restaurant where she eats out with someone we don’t know if he’s her boyfriend or not! *
I got fed up and stopped reading.
The whole news and messages doesn’t speak good of her at all.
I’m the cause of it all.
I grumbled digging my hands into my hair.
How is she feeling right now?
I never knew going there will be that famous.
I recalled how we ran out of the restaurant and straight into the car.
Her face as she dropped me off and didn’t stop or talk to me as she drove away.
Maybe I’m going to be a huge problem to her as we are dating.
“Mehn!
That’s a huge news!!
You need to see how… ”
“Ben stop! “I cut him short and he shut the h’ll up.
I need to think and not what he’s saying about being famous.
My girlfriend’s reputation is at stake now and not about what he’s saying.
I heaved.
I took hold of my phone and then dialed her phone number.
?Hey,
I cooed as it came through.
She didn’t reply me.
?Are you okay?
I asked getting nervous,
What if she suddenly says *let’s break up*… With what is on the net right now… She can say anything and am so scared!!
Am so scared of breaking up with her!
?Yeah,
I heard a faint voice speaking into the phone,
?What’s wrong?… You don’t sound good,
?Well…
?If its because of last night I’m sorry and…..
?Who is talking about that?… It was fun and don’t mind whatever anyone is saying on the news blogs… Its none of my business!!
I was too surprised to even speak up.
So all these didn’t even bother her at all.
?Ril….
?I’m just hungry and no one is here to cook for me.
?Wait for me… Am coming.
I slipped out of my bed and rushed to my wardrobe still with my phone.
“Carson, what are you doing? “Ben asked as I hurried into my clothes.
“To my girlfriend’s house now! ”
“Now?
You haven’t even brushed your teeth! ”
I hung up so she won’t hear that.
I frowned at him,
“Well,
Thank God Ben that the so-called teeth is mine and not yours! ”
I snapped rushing to the door already in my clothes and not my pajamas.
“Hey! ”
“What Ben! “I yelled as he tried to stop me when I held the door handle.
“You’re wearing the back of your trouser ”
“What!!! “I looked at myself and the stitches and hems stood out….
