Chapter Nineteen

GRACE POV

~~
I gulped down my saliva as my heart began racing. We stared at each other for long and it got to a point, water began filling my eyes. I took my glance away, coughing nervously at the awkwardness felt in the room.

He sat besides me and with shaken hands, I turned the funnels with distilled water upside down, noting the initial level before immersing inside the troughs containing distilled water.

He watched me do whatever I was doing and it got to a point where he began helping me.

I was surprised at his sudden aid but I didn’t try to stop him. Why would I?

The ringing tone of my phone left my fingers hanging. I checked the caller ID and when I realized it was Jeanann’s call, I answered the call without hesitation but I didn’t put it on loud speaker.

Because I didn’t want Dylan to hear whatever she was gonna say cause I knew it must be about him.

“Hey girl!”.I heard her say immediately I received the call.

“Hey!”I voiced out with a sigh. Although, the call was on low speaker but still, her voice could be heard clearly in the room.

“So, how is it going? You know what I mean, right? The project! Is Dylan cooperative? You know how hard he i….”.I cut her off quickly when I saw Dylan eyes on me at the mention of his name.

“I will talk to you later”.I said feeling a bit scared.

“What?! Why? Am not done talki…”.

“Good bye Jean”.I said and ended the call with a heavy long sigh.

I stared at Dylan but thanks fully he wasn’t staring at me anymore. I smiled a bit and proceeded with the experiment.

Two hours later, we were done with the experiment on osmosis, though we weren’t really through with it but by tomorrow, the experiment on osmosis will be finished.

I grabbed my phone and checked the time. It was 4pm, that means Mr Lucas must be here already to take me home.

Just like I thought, the woman who directed me to the study room came into the room with a small smile on her lips.

“Sorry to disturb but Miss Grace, your driver is here to take you home”.She said and a smile appeared on my lips.

“Oh! Okay”.I said and took a brief glance at Dylan, he was operating his phone.

I wanted to tell him I was leaving but being the easily scared girl I was, I rejected the idea and walked out of the room.

My phone beeped when I got to the living room, it was a message from Dave. I quickly check it out but gasped slightly when he realized he had sent six other messages a while ago.

The first one didn’t make me feel angry but when I continued reading the messages, I frowned angrily.

? Hi Grace

? Are you there yet?

? Is he being harsh on you?

? Hope you are comfortable there with him? You know what I mean, right? Is he making slight moves towards you?

? Okay, don’t worry. Am gonna call you right now, I feel like something bad is happening to you.

? Geez! Why aren’t you picking up your calls? Am so damn worried right now. Gosh! Am gonna tell mum you’re in danger.

? Grace, this is the last time I would message you and believe me, if you don’t reply then you will meet me at Dylan’s house in the next ten minutes.

I scoffed at the last message. Seriously, I don’t know why he is being too over protective, I don’t even know what makes him want to protect me every time but all I know is that, am tired of his attitude.

Yeah, am so freaking tired of his attitude and I must put a stop to this.

I clicked on the keyboard and began typing the words in my mind, thereafter I sent it to him.

The words were simple and not so lengthy but I knew it would help to keep his over protectiveness aside.

? Trust me Dave, this attitude of yours sucks! *with an angry emotion*

He saw my message but he didn’t reply. I sighed and left the house and when I got to the gate, I opened it and walked out but not without frowning at Jasper who was glaring at me.

I saw the driver, Mr Lucas leaning on the car. He smiled at me and I smiled back at him.

“How was it?”.He asked with his smile not leaving his face. It made his face look so cute and fleshy, maybe it’s good to smile often.

Well, someone should better tell Jasper that!

“It was fine. Thanks for asking Mr Lucas”.I said and he nodded, opening the backseat door.

“Get in Grace, we have to leave now so as not to arrive at your home late”.He said and I nodded before going into the backseat.

He got into the front seat and without wasting much time, he drove the car away.

?Authoress Prosper POV?
??
Dylan left the study room after Grace left. He didn’t expect her to come, he didn’t!

He walked to his room and went to stand at his half opened window sighing slowly he felt some refreshing wind pass by him but suddenly, he caught the girl, Grace walking out of the gate while frowning at one of his boys, Jasper who was in return glaring at her.

He watched the little drama with a little interest and instead of smirking, he did something he never thought he could do again.

His lips parted, forming a small smile.
