Chapter 3

On hearing that Arabella ran towards her to pull her into the room while having a hand over her mouth.

“Why are you calling him?” She asked when the little girl finally stopped screaming.

“To let him know that you are perfectly okay”she replied as she yelled out Uncle again.

She covered the girl mouth but the danger has been done because Gerald himself walk into the room starring at the two.

“What’s going?”He asked as he looked at the both of them.

“She didn’t faint uncle. She is perfectly okay. I saw her with my own two eyes” the little girl replied and Gerald turned to her.

“Is this true?”He asked.

“It’s….it’s…..”Arabella was lost at words for once. She didn’t want to say anything that will ruin whatever future relationship she will have with her daughter.

“Fiona why don’t you leave us alone. Let me talk to her “Gerald suggested and she watched her daughter leave the room without giving her a back ward glance.

“What are you trying to gain by doing this?”Gerald asked starring down at her.

“To work here”She replied

“I already told you that you dont meet up to what I have in mind for a……”

“If it has to do with my looks. Then I won’t attend any social function. I will make myself scarce on that day just give me the job”She begged.

“I can’t give you the job. Please leave now”He said firmly and that got her angry.

How can he be so cold and ¢ruel. She thought as she stood up and went towards him.

“Now listen here. You have two option. It’s either you give me the job or I let the media know about how your girlfriend assaulted me today”

“Are you threatening me?” He asked looking at her in surprise.

“Call it whatever you want. All I can say is that I will make sure I let the press know what your girlfriend did and I might also say that you were involved in it as well.

You wouldn’t want to jeopardise your company name right? So choose wisely” She warned.

A while later two guards pulled her out of the Mansion.

“Let me go! Let me go!”She said as she tried to pull her hand away but they pulled her until they got to the gate where she was pushed out of the Dalton estate.

“Mr Dalton has given orders for you to leave and to never come back”One of the guard told her as they locked the gate while they went back in.

“Cold hearted jerk! How can he do this to me”She muttered.

Her plan to threaten him didn’t work at all. He didn’t even blink an eye to her threat. She should have thought about the things said about him before she decided to threaten him.

Her phone began to ring and she picked it immediately.

“How did it go?” Nina asked.

“Bad. He didn’t give me the job”Arabella said sadly.

“Why? Did he find someone better than you”Nina asked and Arabella was forced to tell her the ¢razy things she did just to get him to hire her.

“Your own daughter sold you off herself. That goes to show that you don’t belong there Arabella. So stop all this and come back” Nina suggested.

“I don’t want to”Arabella replied.

“This won’t make me give up Nina and am not coming back. I have been given a three months leave and I will make sure I get use it.

Talk to you later. Have got to begin my persuasion” Arabella replied as she ended the call.

Spotting a bench not too far from the entrance. She sat there waiting for Gerald Dalton to come out.

She won’t be leaving until she convince Gerald that she is the best person for the job.

Some few hours later Arabella was still sitting. Waiting for someone to show up which it happened.

The gate opened and a car drove outside. A car she knew belonged to Gerald Dalton. She watched the car drove past her without saying a word.

He will surely meet her here when he gets back. She thought as she sat down again while she checked on her post and status on her social media handle.

It was late in the evening when the car finally returned and this time he didn’t ignore her like she thought.

His chauffeur stopped the car while he got out of it. Immediately she saw him. She stopped playing the games she was playing to give him her attention.

“When will you leave” He asked.

“I won’t leave. I intend on staying here till you give me the job”Arabella replied.

“Then you will be staying for a long time because I don’t intend to give you the job” he said as he turned to leave but she pulled him back.

“Can’t you reconsider. I really want to work here”She begged.

“Why do you really have to work here?”He asked as he pulled his hand away from hers

“It’s because of my dau……”She stopped when she realised that she was about to spill the beans.

“What were you going to say?”He asked

“My mom. My mom is very sick right now and I need money. You are the only one hiring with enough salary for her surgery. So please help me” She lied as she took hold of his hand.

“Am sorry but I still can’t give you the job” he said as he pulled his hand away while the sky rumble. Giving a warning that the rain will soon begin.

“Just go and find something else”He added as he went back into his car while his chauffeur drove him inside.

Arabella went back to the bench and sat down on it wondering if she should just come clean and tell him that she is Fiona mom but the thought h©rrified her.

He could take Fiona away and make sure she never gets to see her daughter again. She couldn’t accept that. She thought as the rain began to fall heavily.

She sat where she was thinking of another way to go about things while the rain kept pouring on her.

She began feeling cold and knowing that it’s time for her to leave. She carried her bag and turned to leave.

It was the sound of gate opening that stopped her from walking further. She turned to see the two guards with their umbrella while Gerald stood in between with his own umbrella.

Immediately she saw him. Her face lit up in happiness and she ran the short the distance that separated them.

“Are you giving me the job?”She asked.

“You aren’t giving me much choice”He replied giving her a stern frown and feeling so happy. She moved towards him and give him a tight hug.

“Thank you. Thank you so much”She said even as the guards suceedded in pulling her away from him.

“First thing is first. Do not touch me. I hate it when anyone does that without my permission” He said.

“I will keep that in mind sir” She said glad to get the job.

“Well Peter will take you to your quaters. I have somethings to do ” he said as he walked off while Arabella happily went with Peter.

“Sorry that I kept you waiting” Gerald said as he went back to his seat.

“It’s no problem sir”Martin the manager in charge of his company advertisement replied.

“Where were we then?” Gerald asked.

“We were about to pick a model for the upcoming campaign” Martin replied.

“Have you chosen someone?” Gerald asked.

“Yes. She is Ara Blake. A well known singer and Model. She will surely make this campaign a great one”Martin Said

“Are you sure! I have doubts about her?” Gerald muttered.

“Trust me on this one boss. This lady will make this campaign a blast”Martin said and Gerald nodded agreeing to his plan.

“Contact her company and set an appointment”He stated.
