ANDREA POV
We all sat down in the sitting room starring at one another.
It was quite quiet for a while but it all changed when the stranger who I now knew to be Daniel spoke up
“If am being a bother, I can just leave”he said softly
“Of course not! You were invited here by Mary and so you will be staying ” my mother said giving me a look
“I just don’t know, this will be the first time Mary will bring her friend home and it turns out to be a guy “I said
“I already told you mom! We are just friends”Mary said softly
I stared at her and then at Daniel who sat on the couch.
“You are scaring the boy with your face Andrea, he will just be staying here for tonight, his parents aren’t home and he didn’t want to stay home alone and so Mary offered him a place here” my mom said and I stared at Daniel again
“It’s just going to be for a night”Mary begged and knowing that this is a losing battle, I gave in
“Fine then, he can stay but he will be sleeping on the couch”I said
“Where else would he sleep if not on the couch “My mom said
.
“We already had supper, do you want to eat now”my mom asked
“I don’t feel like it, I will retire to bed now, good night guys and Daniel, I will be watching you”I said and then I went upstairs to my room.
I laid on the bed still thinking about Max and what he told me tonight.
I got a message and it was from Jack,I opened it and read it.
‘Am sorry that I couldn’t pick you Tonight
I was busy as work, I hope you will try to
Understand me, I will make it up to you
With what ever you want, let’s say a car,
It’s time you stopped going out in taxis’
I didn’t bother to reply and I put the phone down.
Am I being fair by keeping the truth about Mary from Max? I thought and just then the door opened and my mom walked in
“What’s wrong mom?”I asked as I sat up
“I should be the one asking you that”she said as she sat down beside me
“There is nothing wrong mom”I said softly
“I know you Andrea, I know when some thing is bothering you, just tell me what it is!”She said
“I found out the reason why Max left me Mom”I said
“And what would that be?”she asked and as brief as I could, I told her the real reason why Max left me years ago
“So what are you going to do about it?”she asked
“Nothing, we said our fare well earlier and this time,I think it’s for real” I said
“What about Mary, won’t you ever tell him about his child?”she asked
“Should I? I already told him that she is not his”I said
“Then you should make it right! The two of them deserve to know each other “she said softly
“Fine then! I will tell him about Mary tomorrow”I said

DANIEL POV
“Why do I get a feeling that your mom doesn’t like me?”he asked as we both sat out side starring at the stars
“That’s not it, she just seem a bit tired,she gets like that each time she is tired, so don’t think about my mom”she replied
“Why don’t you want to go home?” She asked suddenly
“What?”
“Do you think I wouldn’t know! I know that you asking me for a wish to stay at my house tonight is because you don’t want to go home”she said softly
“You caught me”I said softly
“You know it will be good if you just talk to your father about this, you shouldn’t be like this with him for the rest of your life” she said softly
“You know I spoke to him and he told me that he really wants to be close to you, if you will just give him a chance,he will Certainly make it up to you” she added
“And did he tell you that he married my mom even when he was in love with some one else, that he never concerned himself with me because he was so busy building his empire,that I had to grow up with out knowing what a father and son relationship is like “I asked feeling angry
“And did you ever tell him all of this! Am sure that if you tell him some thing, he will certainly work towards ……….”
“He wouldn’t, I know my father Mary, he is just as selfish as he has always been, don’t talk to me about him”I said and she nodded in reply
Slowly I turned towards her and held her hand.
“Am sorry for yelling at you, let’s never talk about my father, just by talking about him, I was about to quarrel with you”I said and she gave me a smile
“I know and I won’t talk about your father if you don’t want me to” she replied.
I moved towards her wanting to peck her but she pushed me away
“What are you trying to do? What if my granny sees us “she said
“But it’s only going to be a peck”I said
“No Daniel, you know our relationship is still a secret to my mom, I don’t want her to know “she replied
“Fine then! I will try to keep myself under control “I said as I moved away from her but she did some thing that surprised me.
She moved close to me and pecked my cheek.
“Hey!”
“I can at least do that, it won’t be a problem”she said giving me a smile
“What are you two up to?”her granny asked and quickly we both stood up
“Nothing grand ma…..we weren’t doing any thing “she said quickly but from the look her granny gave us, she wasn’t fooled.
“Come on in,it’s time to sleep”She said and quickly we both stood up and went into the house

MARY POV
I laid on the bed holding the teddy Daniel had won for me a while ago
Apart from being the perfect boyfriend, he is also the best, I thought as I kept on thinking about him
If mom should ever find out that Daniel and I are both dating, she will throw a fit.
She wants me to face my studies and have made it clear to me that my studies should come first but i will be failing her now, I thought
I like Daniel a lot and I don’t think I will be able to part from him If she ask me to and that is why it must still be kept a secret.
Just then the door to my room opened and Daniel walked in
“What are you doing here?”i whispered at him
“I just couldn’t sleep on the couch”he said as opened my covers and slept on the b.ed beside me
“Hey get off my b.ed”I said but he only smiled
“I like it more here”he said and though I know that it will be risky for him to stay here, I cuddled close to him
“You can’t sleep right?”he asked
“Yes I can’t “I replied
“Why? ”
“Because I was thinking of you”I answered
“Me too, I was thinking of you too and we couldn’t do this a while ago……”he stopped talking and gave me a peck
“Promise me that nothing will ever separate us?”he said softly
“Isn’t that too soon to ask, I mean we just started dating ”
“It’s enough time to know that we like each other a lot, I for one like you so much and am not willing to lose you”he said and that made me feeling good
“I like you too and I promise that nothing will ever separate us “I said .

THE NEXT DAY
MAX POV
“Heading to work already?”Rose asked as I got dressed for work
“Some one has to make money”I said stiffly
“Are you sure you are going to work or you are going to see that slut?”she asked .
“You know what! Think what ever you want, I don’t care”I said and began to head out
“Am sure that you don’t know that daniel didn’t sleep home last night?”she said and that made me stop
“What? Why didn’t he sleep home and where could he be?”
“At a friend house, I don’t know the detail but your parent might know some thing “she said
Nonchalantly
Quickly I left the room and head to my parents.
I was about going in when I heard what my mom said
“You know that child, what was her name again…..Andrea! I wonder what happen to her and I still keep on wondering if the child she was pregnant with back then belonged to Max”.
