Episode 28
Lola looked around her, she had been surrounded, there was no escaping for her; she was as frightened as a mouse in a mousetrap and there was no point trying to run because she knew she would only get caught and possibly killed.
If only she hadn’t spent so much time eating and talking to Bimbo, maybe the messengers wouldn’t have caught up with her.
About half an hour later, Deji joined them along with two other cult members following behind him, they all saluted him in their usual manner and made way for him to walk down to meet Lola.“Well! well! Who do we have here?” He said, walking round Lola in circles, “the runaway girlfriend herself ” he added with an evil laugh, “did you think you could hidefrom me?” he asked in a suddenly sounding more serious, “haven’t I warned you in the past about trying to run away from your shadow?” he asked Lola while she stared at the ground with her head hung in shame; she couldn’t look him in the eyes because she was afraid, moreover, she knew she had betrayed him.“Why have you refused to see me or take my calls?” he asked suddenly stopping in front of her and raising her head by the chin, “I’m talking to you” he screamed in her face when he wasn’t getting a response, “are you tired of me or is there someone else?” he asked giving her a stern look, “answer me” he screamed pushing her out of his way, causing her to lose her balance and fall to the ground, “there’s no one else” Lola stammered, “I’ve just been really busy with exams” she added, “too busy to attend to meee?” Deji asked widening his eyes in surprise, “No” Lola replied shaking her head, “I’ve been taking care of my sister’s daughter as well, she was admitted in the hospital for mumps” Lola replied, “mumps?” Deji asked, “yes! mumps, a viral infection affecting the the salivary glands” Lola explained, “hmm” Deji said looking confused, he clearly had no idea what mumps was but he didn’t want to look ignorant so he just waived it off.
Mumps is a viral infection affecting the parotid glands which are the salivary glands located on the upper jaw on both sides of the face. It may cause swelling of the glands, fever, headaches, pain while swallowing, weakness and fatigue. It is caused by mumps virus which can be spread through infected saliva that can becontracted via coughing, sneezing or sharing utensils. It usually goes away on it’s own after about two weeks and it can be prevented by taking the vaccine againstit.“I’ll let you go this time” Deji replied, “but ifI ever find out that any other man has tasted from my honeypot, I’m going to make sure he doesn’t live to tell the story…and that’s a promise.” he warned Lola, ordering his boys to release her.
