Chapter 83.

Anastasia’s pov ?
“Mr Benjamin, your daughter and I are getting married.. what are you doing here with a gun?” Klaus said.
Benjamin turned the gun towards Klaus and I choked on my spit.. an instant fear gripped me as my blood ran cold.
Please don’t shoot him, please don’t shoot him.. I pray silently.
I really don’t understand this game, it’s too dangerous! Are they sure their plan is so perfect?
“I don’t have a daughter! She’s just a pawn to get what I want!” Benjamin said.
From where I’m sitting, I saw Claudia’s expression changed..she looked so shocked to hear her father say that.
“D-dad, what.. d-do you mean?” She asked in a broken voice.
Benjamin chuckled, he raised a file and waved it in the air… Klaus and Claudia furrowed their eyebrows.
“You see this?” Benjamin said. “This is what I want! I am now the CEO of Statham enterprise! I own all his assets now!”
Klaus stepped forward a bit, his eyebrows furrowed more in confusion… don’t tell me those papers are real.
“What do you mean? I gave those assets to your daughter….”
Benjamin cut Klaus off with a very loud and hysterical laugh.
“Do you think I’m a fool?! After waiting all these years…after all I have sacrificed all these years…you think I’ll simply let my daughter take the glory?!”
“Dad, what are you saying? This is not the right place to talk about this!” Claudia said.
But Benjamin ignored her, he continued speaking.
“None of you are leaving here alive, I might as well just speak the truth now!”
I gasped silently, nobody is leaving here alive?! I turned to Matilda, she doesn’t look like she’s panicking… she’s sitting as if everything is fine.
“Yes! I know many of you here are suspecting me for killing Richard! Yes! I did it!”
A surprised gasped filled the air, people started talking in groups…murmuring among themselves.
I guess this is what Klaus want, for him to confess to his crime openly.
“Back then, I killed Richard Statham to get the CEO position…but that bastard already handed over the company to his 14 years old son! How humiliating for me!” He growled.
He cocked his gun aiming at Klaus, my eyes grew wide and I gripped onto Matilda’s arm tightly.
“Which is why he’s gonna die today! Right here and right now!”
Claudia quickly rushed in front of Klaus and blocked him from her father…she shook her head.
“Don’t do this, dad…this wasn’t part of our plan” she said.
So…she was also part of her father’s selfish plan?!
“This wasn’t part of our plan?” He asked.
Claudia shook her head, her father laughed.
“I don’t care what’s part of the plan and what’s not part of the plan!”
From the corner of my eyes, I can see some people already looking for where to hide…but some still remained sitted on their chairs…maybe they’re too scared to get up.
“I have gotten the necessary documents! I own Statham enterprise now!”
He released a sinster laugh, Klaus just remained calm and was watching Benjamin.
“Step aside let me finish him up!”
Finish him up?! Where’s Klaus’s team?! What’s their plan?! They should act fast!
“No! No, dad! Don’t!” Claudia cried.
“We don’t need him anymore! We can get you married to another rich ba$tard! Step aside!” Benjamin said.
“No! You’ll have to kill me first before you kill Nicklaus!” Claudia said.
“I said move aside!”
“No…I won’t let you do it!”
“No?!”
“No!” Claudia replied stubbornly.
Benjamin chuckled.
“Foolish girl, I won’t hesitate to kill you… you’re my daughter, but you’re of no use to me right now! I can kill you without any care!”
He wouldn’t do that to his own daughter, he can’t kill her…I wonder what’s taking Klaus’s team so long!
“Dad….”
Without hesitation, Benjamin pulled the trigger and Claudia choked on her words…she stared at her father with a shocked expression.
Her hand moved to her chest, in an instant, her white wedding dress has turned red…as if it was soaked in a red dye or red paint.
“Nooo!” I heard someone screamed from the congregation.
I turned… it’s her mother, she sprint up from her chair and ran towards the altar.
The congregation became silent or maybe I am the one not hearing any sound…my focus is on Claudia right now.
“Benjamin! What did you do!” Claudia’s mother pulled Benjamin.
But Benjamin caught her by her neck and held onto it very tight.. choking her and she struggled to escape but there’s no way to escape from that grip.
I watched in horror as Claudia’s body fell down in a very loud thud…did this just happened?
If this man is heartless enough to shoot his own daughter, then he won’t think twice about shooting Klaus too!
“Matilda! Matilda! Why are you so calm?! Where is Marcus and Dr ghost?!” I shake Matilda silently… afraid that Benjamin might hear me and turn to me.
“Calm down, they’re gonna be here soon”
“Soon?! How soon?! Benjamin can pull that trigger any time! He already shot his daughter!” I said.
“They’ll be here….”
“Stop saying they’ll be here, call Marcus now! Tell him to hurry up! We don’t have this time he’s wasting!”
Matilda nod and quickly fetched her phone, she dialed Marcus’s number…his phone started ringing but he’s not picking up.
She tried again, his phone kept ringing and ringing but he still didn’t pick up.
“What’s going on with him?! I thought they have a plan?! Are they waiting for Benjamin to kill my Klaus first?!”
“Tasia, calm down…we don’t know if this is also part of their plan”
“Part of their plan?! Or they are bailing on Klaus at the last minute?!” I growled angrily.
When Klaus needed them most they aren’t here!
“Let’s keep watching, Tasia”
Klaus’ chuckling sound pulled my attention back to the altar.
“Benjamin, you think you can get away and be the CEO of Statham enterprise..if you kill me now?!” Klaus asked.
I frowned at him, why is Klaus provoking him?
“Yes! None of these useless shareholders can stop me!”
Then I heard a boom!
Screams filled the air as everyone started running around, looking for where to hide.
Matilda quickly covered my eyes and I don’t know what’s going on.
“Oh my God! Mr Statham!” Matilda whispered.
“What happened to Klaus?” I asked trying to push her hand away from my eyes.
“Quick, let’s look somewhere to hide!” Matilda said pulling me along.
“Where are you taking me?! What happened to Klaus?!” I asked but she ignored me.
She pulled me towards a corner and we hide behind a very big chair…the once crowded chapel has turned into a silent cemetery in a blink of an eye.
Everyone has ran to hide!
“What happened to Klaus?! Is he ok?!” I asked.
Matilda didn’t reply, she’s peeping…I also stretch my head to take a peek…but a gasp left my mouth at what I saw.
I paled as I saw my Klaus collapsed, my heart burst as hot tears starts running down my cheeks.
I started with a sob, then my mouth fell opened and I started wailing, but Matilda slapped her hand over my mouth…and muffling sounds came out instead of my wail.
“Shh! Tasia, bring your voice down… Benjamin will hear you and come for us!” Matilda said, trying to calm me down.
But my tears won’t just stop, I shake my head and point towards the altar.
“Look at my husband laying on the ground.. the father of my child… I.. I.. we should go help him”
“Tasia… ”
“I can’t just stay here! I must do something!”
“What do you want to do?! What do you think you can do?!”
“Anything.. a-anything to help Klaus… I… ”
Matilda take a peek again, before turning back to me.
“Tasia, calm down, that man is too dangerous and powerful for us”
“B-but.. we can’t just sit back and do…”
“Shhh!” She hushed me. “She listen!” She said.
Since the chapel is now empty, we can hear every sound clearly… Even a needle dropping.
“Ben… Benjamin, d-do you know what.. you’re doing?” Klaus grunt out painfully.
I shut my eyes tightly and balled my fist… I opened my eyes and see Benjamin walking towards Klaus, he’s pushed Claudia’s mother away…
She rushed towards Claudia and cradles her.
My eyes moved back to Benjamin, he’s squatting to Klaus’s level…blood is flowing down the small stairs at the altar.. about three steps.
“I know what I’m doing! Nicklaus, you’re such a handsome young man.. but I can’t let you eat the fruit of my labour!”
“W-what are you gonna do?” Klaus asked.
“I’ll do to you, what I did to your father 13years ago… I’ll send you to him!” He slowly pulled out a da.gger from his back pocket.
My eyes peered at him wide-eyed, the scene of Benjamin stabbing Nicklaus’s father flashes back to my mind…and I shiver in fear.
“No! I can’t let this happen again!” I got up and ran out before Matilda could stop me.
I didn’t make any sound as I run towards Benjamin, soon, I got closer to him… I jumped on his back and pushed him on Klaus’ blood.
His gun fell off his hand and I quickly jumped off his back, I picked the gun and aimed it at him… I took a few steps back.
“Who is that bast*rd looking for a death warrant?!” Benjamin growled.
Klaus stared at me with a frown, I know he’s not gonna recognize me since I’m wearing a disguise make up… I had took off the mask and sunglasses earlier.
“Anastasia! What are you doing here?!” Klaus growled.
Uh-oh! He recognized me! How?!
Well, I’m just gonna pretend I’m not Anastasia, I ignored him and turned to Benjamin.
His eyes dart around maniacally.
“You’re so bored! Huh?!” He said taking slow steps towards me.
I took slow steps back too, I’m holding a gun but I’m still shaking and frightened…
“You think you can scare me with that gun?!” He studied me and frown. “Can you even pull the trigger?!”
I can see Klaus talking to someone on his phone… I thought he was shot just now.
How can he still manage to speak?
“Come on, shoot me!” He said, spreading his arms wide open.
I held onto the gun tightly but I couldn’t pull the trigger, I don’t know if it’s because I don’t know how.. or if it’s because I don’t have to courage to!
“Oh?! Seems like you’re scared! I’ll have to teach you how I do my things!”
With that, he threw the da.gger randomly at me.. I saw it coming straight at my stomach, the gun fell off my hand and I quickly wrap my arms around my stomach.
My mouth fell opened as the dagger comes nearer, then a big figure suddenly stood in front of me.. blocking the da.gger from reaching me.
It’s Klaus!
“Argh!” He grunt painfully.
Just then I heard a gunshot, I thought it was Benjamin that shot Klaus… But Benjamin fell on his knees and grabbed his left thigh.
That’s when I saw the policemen flocking into the chapel, Marcus and Matilda rushed towards us.
“Fk! Nicky, you’re wounded!” Marcus exclaimed.
Wounded?! That grunt… I quickly rushed to his front and saw below his stomach gushing out blood.
“How did this happened?! You’re wearing a bullet proof vest, right?” Dr ghost asked.
Klaus nod, he removed his hand from his stomach and we saw the dagger deeply shoved in.. as if it was purposely shoved in.
“Gregory Lopez?!” Benjamin asked in a shocked voice.
Gregory Lopez?!
My mind flashes back to the credit card I saw aunt holding that day, it’s holder’s name is Gregory Lopez…is he Dr ghost?!
Is this Gregory related to me?!
We turned towards him, the police held him and his hands are cuffed.
“Yes!”
“You.. you were supposed to be dead!”
“But I’m not, are you surprised?!” Dr ghost growled.
“You’ve been hiding?”
“Yes, you were also hiding!”
Benjamin laughed.
“It’s no use having you here, I already won! I have Statham enterprise now… And if you want the CEO, you’ll have to beg me to sign the papers but I won’t!”
Dr ghost laughed at his words.
“Why are you laughing? Are you laughing at the fact that I won’t be handing the company to you?”
“No. I’m laughing because you’re stupid to think those papers are legit… you have no place in Statham enterprise anymore!”
Benjamin frowned.
“These papers are fake?!”
“Yes, Benjamin… And you’re no longer a shareholder in Statham enterprise.. your daughter already signed your shares to Nicklaus… ” Marcus said.
He paused and search his briefcase.. he pulled out a file and showed it to Benjamin.
“… this is it. Your daughter’s signature is already on it!”
Benjamin turned his gaze to Nicklaus, he glared at Nicklaus.
“You played me!”
“Yes! Just like you played my father 13years ago… Benjamin you’ve gotten too old and forgot the rule of the game”
Benjamin simply glared at Klaus more, I know he’s dreaming of $tabbing Klaus to death right now.
“Never believe everything you see!” Klaus concluded.
I turned to him and stared at his stomach, he’s loosing so much blood now.
“Stop talking, reserve your strength”
He ignored me and faced the officers. “Take him away!”
“Even if you put me behind bars, your days of peace won’t last… someone deadlier than me is coming for you!” Benjamin yelled as the officers dragged him out.
Klaus fell down and breaths heavily, I turned to Dr ghost.
“Dr ghost, do something, Klaus is loosing blood!” I said.
Dr ghost squat instantly, he slowly pulled the da.gger out.. Klaus is in pain but he’s not making any sound.. he seemed to be biting back the pain.
“Here, use this to cover the wound!” Marcus said and handed me a small towel.
Klaus snatched it from me and covered his wound by himself, he glared at me briefly and look away from me.
“Klaus, let’s take you to the hospital”
“Stay away from me!” He growled at me.
I frown.
“But you’re bleeding… ”
“Stop pretending like you care about me!” He snapped at me.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
I was worried sick and scared to death.. now he’s calling that pretending to be worried?
“If I was really shot and couldn’t move, what do you think would have happened?! Our child would have the one to take the fall.. right?!”
Our child? He knows about the baby?
“Ahem!” An officer cleared his throat.
Our attention turned to him, he pointed at Claudia.
“What should we do to Miss Benjamin?” He asked.
Klaus turned to her and stared at her briefly, her mother is still crying and hugging her very tight.
“Let’s take her to the hospital first, there might be some hope” Klaus said.
The officer nod, I doubt if there is really any hope left for her, she doesn’t seem to be breathing.
“Nicky, let’s get you to the hospital too, to get your wound treated in time!” Marcus said.
Klaus nod his head, I held his arm but he removed my hands from him.
“I’m mad at you, Anastasia.. but we’ll talk about it when I get home”
“Klaus, I… ”
“Matilda take her home!” He said and left without giving me a second glance.
I watched as he, Marcus and Dr ghost walked out of the chapel… some paramedics rushed in and carried Claudia away…her mother rushed after them.
Now it’s just me and Matilda standing here, she threw her arm around my shoulder.
“That was a brave and dangerous move from you, Tasia” Matilda said.
“I know but I couldn’t just watch Klaus getting killed.. I thought he was really shot, I didn’t know he was wearing a bullet proof.. I saw blood and…. ” I trailed off not knowing what to say.
“That was fake blood, that’s why I said we should sit back and watch”
“I was just worried about him, I didn’t…. ”
“Shh, that’s enough.. let’s go home, you need some rest” she said.
God! The blood… Klaus collapsing… It was all an act! I was so scared!
